Oassu sighed "It's fine out here, just needed the air" he said to Felina turning to Lord Tayu "It's a pleasure to meet you Onotarius, Oassu is fine I don't exactly have a fancy title like all the lords and ladies in there anyway" he grumbled looking out over the gardens.
Jeckhart blushed "W-Well yes, mating season is always difficult for the clan being mostly demons and all but there's precautions you can take" he said almost tripping over his own feet "But yes ideally I'd become an angel, I'd need to overcome my sin for that though" he said furrowing his brow in thought "It's meant to be something abstract and unique to each demon so it's not like I can consult an instruction book for it" he said
Zadina nodded approvingly "No no that's fine, and your fur is always nice and soft, I just don't normally touch it beyond the ears which is why I was so surprised" he explained twirling with Amane "And yes it is a bit, for this one at least. This dance is actually adopted more from Agralian and Mineerin styles, ballroom dancing isn't particularly elvish since we didn't have such big halls once upon a time." he added "I hope you like the music at least and are having fun at the party, I'm sorry I had to leave you alone before" he apologised.

Hebal scratched her head "Yeah I heard something like that which is why there are so few angels out and about in the clan. Though the only downside to the whole aging thing is that you cant always spend as much time with people you like. Take Zadina and Amane. They would have made such a cute couple had it not been for him being an elf. And sure you have precautions but its good to not need to rely on things like that and so much less hassle right" she pointed out watching Amane over Jeckharts shoulder.
Amane nodded unaware her ears were still swaying "Yep yep the music is really nice and I've never even seen some of these istruments before in my life though they sound great. And you and mum seem to just have a talent for making just about anything seem fun though after this dance maybe we could get a slice of dessert?"

"Quite the view out the gardens isn't it? Some say its the best view in Yithra. Though I bet to differ for my office at the top of the temple is also something to be seen" he continued despite guessing that Oassu wasn't in the mood for banter. If it is any consolation. I think you handled yourself rather well back there for being caught off guard. When I was your age I would be most tempted to set his undergarments on fire" he joked.
Felina raised her eyebrow "I couldn't imagine you doing something like that. Hayate on the other hand along with a good portion of your students... I could easily see it happening" she answered placing her arm around Oassu's waist. "You may not have a fancy title but ironically you are one of the most important people in the room right now" she smiled ruffling his hair slightly.

Oassu sighed smiling slightly as Felina ruffled his hair "Well thanks Onotarius, that's kind of you to say, I'd much rather have sorted it my own way as well but Felina was right in how to handle that, I guess I'd just convinced myself beforehand that all the noble-types would be so concerned about etiquette they wouldn't dare say anything like that" he said looking out over the gardens "Though it definitely is a nice view that's for sure, figured I'd enjoy it out here before it gets all crowded with people wanting to watch the fireworks" he added calming down slightly.
Jeckhart nodded looking over at them "Yeah it's a little bit sad, especially since I think they have a little bit of love for one another there but it's so difficult for interspecies relationships with elves these days, only a few demons can do it I'd imagine" he said smiling "But yes I suppose it is less hassle for humans, though demon season was a few months ago so still plenty of time" he added quietly with a little blush.
Zadina giggled watching Amane's ears swaying "Sure we can, I think I promised you a bit of one of those huge cakes as well but you make things a lot of fun as well Amane, I've not really had anyone to play with since me and my cousins were all little" he said pausing for a moment to adjust Amane's hands "Now you let go of me for a second, and I lift your hand high and I twirl you around and around" he said doing it slowly with Amane "Then you place your hand back on my side like before" he explained the dance to her.

Hebal nodded happily spinning herself around "Yep yep. the only demon I have met who could probably have something with an elf is Sephy though she seems to have a preference for humans which makes me wonder how she will cope when Itaka will start to go old... anyway lets not think so morbidly at a party right. You never know you might find a nice human lady you want to settle down with one day and not want to change back hehe. Though if you need help getting more stable on your feet I can teach you some good exercises.
Amane laughed letting go of Zadina "Now spinning I can do. Hehe if I couldn't spin then there would be no possible way I could be related to my mother" she boasted demonstrating with a twirl as instructed "Easy peasy see! And yes I believe you did promise me a nice big slice. Though what would be the odds of me being able to take a little home with me for my friends and grandma"

Onotarius shook his head "Take it from someone who teachers children and young adults for a living. Noblemen can be some of the worst for manners when they think they can get away with it in front of people. The best thing to do is make sure they know that you are not the type to put up with it for the more spoiled 500 year old noblemen are worse than the 100 year old kids" he whispered. "But of course Felina has never been any bother or Zadina. For being related to the king, they were not spoiled like a lot of the people at this party"
Felina smiled happy to hear "Well if I was rude to you when you came over to tutor me, my dad would have scolded me straight after. Plus he gave us a weekly allowance to buy things and that was it. Though you know Oassu, there will be more than one balcony to view the fireworks and we'll probably be up on the kings balcony anyway with the best view"

Oassu nodded "I'm sure Zadina was always very good seeing how well behaved he is" he said "I'm sure you did well teaching them all but yeah, just a shame that nobles think they can pull such stunts" he said cuddling Felina "And that sounds quite nice, which one of these balconies is it?" he asked looking along the other ones on the outside of the hall.
Zadina nodded "Yep you sure are great at twirling that's for sure but yes lets go get a slice of cake, and I'm sure we can sneak some away for later, I'll have the servants wrap you up some to take back though it might not be quite as fresh as you wanted" he said turning to applaud the band at the end of the song.
Jeckhart smiled "Oh I don't think I'll fall for a human wife anytime soon but I wouldn't might you teaching me some exercises, that sounds like it could be fun, and it would let me get used to my legs that's true" he said

Hebal clapped her hands and cheered for the band realising they were about to stop for a short break "Well you never know. A lot of people don't think much of cross species relationships but all it takes is the one person to change that view out of nowhere hehe. Though dancing is a good start for the leg exercises. Swimming and jogging would be other good activities. Swimming especially builds up leg strength from all the kicking" she advised.
Amane copied everyone else clapping her hands, almost for too long "That would bbe great thank you. I am sure the cake will keep for a couple of days and be reasonably fresh also. Though Zadina you will be the cake expert here. Which one do you recommend?"

Felina turned around and pointed back inside the hall "The kings balcony is back into the ballroom and then up the stairs. Its above all the others so that you have the clearest view of the sky afterall. Closest to Bahamut also. Though most nobles grow out of being such tools. Look at my dad for example" she pointed out scratching her ear. "Does that sound good to you or would you rather somewhere further away?"
Onotarius nodded "That is right. Some grow out of it. Though from experience its the usually just the first sons who are to take over whatever title that are the ones that cause the bother. The Second and third sons make hard workers. But I am sure you don't want to hear me blab about the nobility. I am just glad to have the company of normal people. And about that I suppose I should be thanking you. Your decision to spend your time here for the festival allowed me to spend time of the festival with Hayate for the first time I a year of three"

Oassu nodded "Sounds fine to me, will be a little scary being up there with the royal family to be honest but I guess its where I belong now huh?" he said nuzzling Felina "Still sorry it took me so long to realise, you must be Hayate's adopted father then, it's a pleasure to meet you though I doubt Hayate's had much time since he got back to spend it in places" he said
Zadina paused for a moment "Well, there's a strawberry one and a lemon one, that one is a white and milk chocolate one and that one over there is made from mostly herbs and vegetables" he said smiling slightly "It's an unusual elven cake that one, but I think I'll have some of the chocolate cake tonight" he said thanking people in elvish as people moved aside to let them near the dessert table.
Jeckhart nodded moving back towards the children "I suppose so, I'll probably sleep well from all the exercise though I might not mind swimming though I don't really have a pool to exercise in but cross species relationships can work, they just need to love each other very much for it" he said

Amane scratched her chin "I suppose I would rather have the chocolate cake. The herby one just sounds weird and I don't like lemons" she agreed edging over to the white chocolate iced cake "I think I'll have this one. Must be useful when everyone makes way for you all the time, would never have to queue for anything or have to wait when visiting elven places.."
Hebal nodded "Yep or they find some way to reverse aging or become immortal. Was all a lot of the dark association could ever talk about for a long time but its safe to say they are nowhere near getting anything like that. Even they had to conclude it was impossible. But you are right, there aren't really going to be any places with a pool that we travel to and the airship doesn't have one. It should but... we have too many crew members to merge two bedrooms together and convert into a pool. Wouldn't use it most of the time anyway because I don't like getting wet. Though despite that, we viera are taught to be strong swimmers" she rambled on almost forgetting what started the conversation off.

Onotarius shook his head leaning back against the balcony "He's had some time. Had a few hours with us earlier today but we're used to it by now. He's never been one to hang around in more than one place for too long if he can avoid it which is why I am not surprised about him continuing to travel with you despite being given leave weeks ago. Still a little time to relax with people you care about is better than nothing at all. But how is your quest going?"
"Oh he never told us he was given leave so thought he was still there on orders. Can't dislike you too much then Oassu. And you will be fine on the balcony. It's probably the only time tonight when nobody will be wanting to look at you" Felina joked while she tried to adjust her dress slightly.

Oassu nodded "Well he probably didn't want to derail everything so we'd drop him off when we'd be going here anyway soon enough" he said to Felina cuddling her slightly "I'd say the quest is going well, we've had a lot of help from people including some donations to our cause which will save us a lot of time" he said happily
Zadina giggled "The herb one really isn't all that bad and it smells nice like lavender, I might have a slice later on but sure" he said cutting Amane and himself a slice of the cake "I suppose it's handy but we'll need to get used to queuing places on the pilgrimage if we go to bigger cities and the like" he said moving aside so other people could have a shot "There'll be so many strange new customs to see" he said happily.
Jeckhart laughed as Hebal rambled "I sorely doubt Alpha would build a swimming pool on his airship anyway, he's a fire demon water is notoriously bad for a fire demon's health even just spending time in an environment that's not scorching hot is bad for demons" he said nodding "They are actually extremely tight controls on fire demons for coming into this world as they can be so dangerous to the environment if they used their full body temperature" he explained before getting back to the point "Why are you taught to be such strong swimmers though? You don't really live in an aquatic environment" he asked puzzled.

Hebal smiled kicking her leg up since they had the space "Well swimming is the best way to build up strength in your legs short of trying to lift weights with them. Also you know that viera aren't naturally bipedal right? Its easier to teach kids to walk on two legs in water cause the water keeps em up and then you move them onto their first good shoes. And besides, most viera forests have rivers either flowing through or nearby so there was always a fresh water supply" she explained.
Amane licked her lips and gave the cake a small sniff before taking a small nibble out of it "Mmm that is delicious. I hope all the cities are as welcoming as Yithra has been though I doubt they will be from what I have heard of some places. Though tell me, from your experience. Which people have the strangest customs"

Onotarius smiled hearing Oassu's report. "Sounds as if you gave made a fair few useful allies for people to be able to make such donations. You are lucky to know so many,willing to help. Though I doubt there is anything I can do for you as I am no expert at scavenger hunting. Where head you next?"
"Next we are heading north east to the desert in such of one item plus the possibility of finding someone who may provide us with more clues. But you have been there before haven't you? Was it and the desert elves as bad as we hear over here" Felina inquired in reply.
Onotarius hesitated forming a small frown. "I take it that is why your pilot requested a full crate of medical supplies for his airship. But yes, the desert is a rough place and perhaps harsher than any place you have ever been so be in your guard. And whatever you do, don't appear vulnerable or you will be a target the entire time" he warned.
