With sweat slowly moving down his face and his posture slumped again, Ruuvan couldn't do anything to accept her words but smile weakly and stagger backwards another few feet, quickly catching himself and getting into position. "I didn't come this far to give up, Guardian." Another weak smile and a hoarse laugh followed. He couldn't bring his weapons up in his stance, as he would need all his speed and strength to stop whatever attack she was about to do, so he kept both blades low to the ground, the tips resting on the stone floor as he waited, "Let's finish it..."

She grinned and still held the sword up in its high position... before just plain throwing the thing at him, hard and fast. The sword looked more like a circular saw as it headed straight towards him, a blur of sheer, concentrated water energy trailing from the blade as it whirled. Moving at around the same speed as the cresent blade attack she had tossed at him.
With that, she shrugged, smiled softly, and vanished into mist.
What the hell?

Ready... here it comes... the hell? Three simple thoughts crossed his mind as he saw the woman throw the sword and disappear, but that didn't stop the fact he had to get out of the sword's way. As he was already tipping over to his left, what with being tired and worn out, Ruu used this to make his mind up. He was already mid-tip as the sword was thrown, so he simply had to push himself from the crouching position in a short leap to his left where he rolled into another crouching position. He wondered for a moment where the woman was, but he waited patiently for her to appear again so they could finish the fight, watching the sword continue past and waiting for something.

But wait! What was this?
She suddenly appeared just behind the sword and caught it precisely when she should, before turning on her left heel and... BOOM! The speed was befitting of one of the "Battlemaidens of Odin", though there was something substantially different about this charge. Her eyes were no longer green. They weren't even eyes anymore. Her entire eye, from the iris to the very coronea had turned white. Not that pearl white that the eyes usually have... but white. That kind of white that Ruuvan's light had shone.
THIS WAS IT.
She said nothing. Did not smile. She simply charged forward and within the space of a breath, she was upon him, her sword arcing downwards toward his left shoulder in a flash of pale blue. The sword moved so quickly, it had become light instead of steel... a blue blur of death.
At his current strength, could he do it? Could he counter it? Certainly it was a simple move... a simple move that had her full force and speed behind it. She had stopped playing now. She was a Valkyrie, through and through, and this attack was a true test against the divine...

You're done now, Ruuvan. Use the shadows! As always, in times of need, a helpful voice came into his head. It was the voice of his ol travelling companion and friend Maximos, getting his mind back in gear and helping him finish this fight. Of course, being dead and all. Max wouldn't be able to help physically, but that little voice in his head would help things along.
The Guardian was almost on top of him and Ruuvan needed to act now, and act he would. In one final burst of his speed, strength, agility and shadow magic combined, he would make his dodge and counter. He commanded the shadow to his right to form into a ball and crash into him, sending him on his way to a roll to his left. Alongside this, he used what strength he had left, already having the speed, and leapt to the left of the sword. Once clear of the weapon and collapsing towards the Valkyrie, he used his left hand to support him and struck out with his right sword, slashing it towards the armour joint at her right knee.

CLANG
The blade impacted with her right kneeguard and she stopped cold, the katana having finished its path. Her eyes reverted back to their normal color, though a bit dazed. He dodged it! He evaded her strike! She wasn't so surprised at this as she was pleased. Then, the pain caught up with her from the reverberations in her shinguard... and she collapsed forward, falling to her right knee again with her left foot still braced on the floor.
Her right leg still hurt. The adrenaline was wearing off. She winced and hissed in pain. Then she smiled again. "Excellent! I was actually serious that time, and you still dodged it! Well done." The sword re-formed into the three-inch wide gemstone, which fell to the ground... before it was quickly caught by her left hand.
"You know... I just might stick around with you for a while. I need a bit of sleep, though..."
She closed her eyes and began to shimmer, then turned completely into a liquid form before seeping into the sapphire slowly. When she was finished, the Rune Stone dropped to the floor with a tap-tap-tap.
Success!
Congratulations! One of the Rune Stones, the sapphire, is yours! But there are nine to go...

Ruuvan could do nothing for the time being, save lay there and groan in response to her words, but he was slowly coming back from the bring of unconsciousness. He let go of both swords and started to pat around for the gemstone with both hands, his face still resting against the stone ground, but then he fround it. A strange tingling sensation went through his whole body as he brought the stone closer, his head turning to gaze into the sapphie. "My prize... no fame, eh?" Ruu slowly hefted himself to his feet, slipping both swords back into their sheaths, and putting the sapphire into the left breast pocket, opposite his necklace. So, with his prize gained and nothing more to do, Ruuvan turned and started to head out of the caverns, backtracking the way he came.

Hey, hey now!
A voice in his head. He already had one of them... why did he have to recieve another one? But this was the voice of the woman that he had fought. She sounded concerned about his now drained state, and him moving after that.
Come on, don't go out like that. Here- let me help.
A flash of light from his pocket... a feeling of disorientation... blurry eyesight... and when his vision cleared, he was outside the cave again. Not entirely well and hale, but standing and safe. He would hear the voice again...
That's all I got... I'm going to sleep now. But before I do, know this... if you want fame and glory, you're going to have to die a glorious death. Let your name echo in history not because you died... but because of how you died. How many you took with you. Your last words. Only then can you be reborn... that is, if Valhalla still exists these days.
She giggled again, and went silent.

Upon the appearance of another voice in his head, as well as the fact he was still in the cave, Ruuvan spun around in an attempt to find where it was coming from, slowly coming to the realisation that she was communication telepathically. A smirk crossed his lips as she mentioned dying, which he had done before and is appearance definitely showed, but he appreciated her teleporting him outside so he wouldn't have to fair the crabs again, though they were most likely full up from eating their fallen comrades - disgusting.
Ruuvan was fiddling with the Sapphire even as he entered the tavern he had been in before, smiling as he saw the old man still sitting in the corner. He walked to the barman as he had done before and put some money on the counter. "I would like a room for the night and a drink for that man over there. Tell him the Guardian is alive and well." The barman held a blank expression on his face, but Ruuvan smirked and took the room key he was offered, quickly retreating upstairs to get some sleep before going after the next stone.

He wiped the sweat off his brow. The hammer in his hand was extreamly heavy at the moment, so he let it drop with a satisfying "thump" at his feet. The building was made entirely of wood. In the back was the blacksmithing area and on the inside was where the objects would be put on display for sales. "Finally, brother, our dreams are coming true!"

Evan White, wearing mostly black, drove into town in his black Dodge Viper SRT 10 Roadster, the huge engine block purring and the white feather motif on the hood and side doors gleaming in the sunlight. He had not been out of Durem in quite a while since most of his business contacts had opened up and the search for Red had resumed.
Though things were hectic, he still had time for people watching. So he got out of the car after parking it next to a curb, turned on the security, and headed towards the nearest cafe.

"Hn?"
He turned towards the young-looking woman and smiled. How she knew his name was anyone's guess, but... wait. Those ears. Blue eyes, same smile... but as he superimposed the image that was fresh in his mind with this one, two things were different.
"You cut your hair- that beautiful hair of yours. And what's with the black color?"
He said all this with a fond smile as he sat at her table.
Nedyfay Darkchild. Gods, how long has it been?
