unfortunatly, my BD had put me as 2nd chair and last depending on the songs for the holiday concert and he has never once given me the chance to play in Wind Ensemble.. the better band. he has put me in concert band for 4 yrs in a row and doesnt seem to realize that i have been becoming better with each passing concert... i hate him.

Maybe you're not fulfilling another requirement to get into wind ensemble? Over here, you have to try out for CODA or All-State to get in.
I've been thinking about running for lieutenant section leader at the end of this year for next year. Why lieutenant? It never fails in my section that the lts. get all of the power and none of the responsibility and the chief section leaders get none of the power and all of the responsibility. rofl

I love my clarinet steve very much! heart Just to say this but I hate the flutes because our band instructer favors them! scream I can't wait to march though! can some tell me what it's like? Aha... fresh meat a new marcher! Congratulations! blaugh Marching band is probably some of the most fun you'll ever have in your musical career. BUT it demands a lot of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. Don't wimp out! Follow instructions, learn to march well, and don't rouse the ire of the upperclassmen. If your marching band is a competition band, then you'll have a lot of 2+hour practices in the morning, in the evening, on the weekend...marching band proves that band takes over your life. It hurts, it burns, you want to scream and kill the band director, but when you find out your band swept the sweepstakes for your category... ...yeah. It's all worth it. Just be sure to wear a hat, sunscreen, and drink plenty of water at band camp. 3nodding And here I named my clarinet Lakshmi, after the Hindu goddess of wealth and beauty... stare

i think I'm almost ready for all southern!
Just gotta fix my chromatic a bit, the arpeggios in my song, my site reading and then W00T!
i gotta break in one reed tomorrow and another one today [i mixed that up....] so just incase anything happens..and I'll have one ready on sunday [the day of ze audition] since weather affects dear reeds greatly...and its cold here [duh] santa ana winds are coming or so stuart says...
do new reeds really work better in weather like this? my teacher said that at the audition if my reeds fail on me, get out a new reed and just shave it a bit...soo yeah
^_^ I'm gonna practice with my bass clarinet friend biggrin yay!!!! XD I'd feel more confident if I got rid of my nervousness by laughing like hell...he'll probably call me a new name and end up making me laugh..
i think O___o; AHHAHA! ookayyyy
YAY! i'm too lazy to read anything right now......

In solo and ensemble, I always get the nice judges-the ones that compliment how nice you look, and thanks for coming, and all that. That's probably why I always score so highly. sweatdrop I have a feeling that it's not going to last, though, so I'm getting started on my solo early. It's looking like I'll do a Mendelssohn (sp?) piece; I'll try to get some scans up soon.

Hello, I'm Aoki! I'm a sophomore at Santa Rita High School, and I've been lucky enough to try out and recieve the title of clarinet section leader for this years marching season. During concert band though, since the drum major plays clarinet, I drop down to the title of second chair. oh well. He's a senior, so when he's gone next year, I've got first chair in the bag. I wanna take his place as drum major though. he's been my one and onyl drum major for the past two years and as a stupid freshmen, he befrended me, we've become best friends, and I devoloped a love interest in him. Unfortunately he's chosen a pit player, Christina, over me...Three times...After we both confessed our love to him at seperate times on a band bus ride to a competition last year. Note to self...Never do that one again...So anyways, enough of my love life, after all, this is a band guild! Anyways, like I said, I am a member of the marching band, wind ensemble, and pep bands at my school. I am also learning to play the baritone with my concert band at school. I know, I know *ducks flying tomatoes* I'm a woodwind player all the way, I just had a free class period this year and decided to try something new. I also play the piano and am pretty good at picking out stuff on the keyboard instruments. I also danced for eight years before high school and so I am captian of the dance line for my schools winterguard. Now that I've basically given you my lifes story...How is everyone doing this fine evening?

u have done alot. i have done very little in my life...but make a mess of it... but i dont think i can mess up this year. its my last year in high school and i will not make a fool of myself. lol..... i usually get very excited for solo and ensemble... but this year i dunno. we have to do it in our chamber groups this year if we do go to solo and emsemble. people at my school dont seem to understand. they make fun of me for being in band and then they look at the music and go what the crap? that is so confusing. but then when i say its easy they make fun of me.... its funny in a way and not at the same time... my b/f plays the clarinet too and im trying to get him to teach me Indiana Jones on the clarinet... he memorized it... its unfair but he says its easy... so i have to make him tell me.. lol

santa rita high? that sounds like its in cali...is it? o-o??
Well, i finally know how to not mess up and not be nervous, be prepared biggrin , today at my all southern audition I walked in and I wasn't even nervous O_O before it I was but when I walked in...I just felt absolutely calm O_O;;.
People don't hate us at my middle school thank god, they have no reason to since atleast one of their friends is apart of our program. XD;;.
my all southern audition went...rather well i must say, I had a few things I messed up on such as site reading [nothing much besides that...though there might have been a slip in my scales somewhere] since she commented my tone three times...it probably was good O_O;;;;
i hope I somehow get first chair D: i've done those absolutely boring scale exercises all summer to memorize my scales like this...I've actually done my long tones unlike my teacher's other students...and all those exercises...every single one DD: that'd suck if it all went to waste
but! whatever I get I get! I'm happy enough I got to try out!

Obaa-chan Hello~! XD I'm a freshman at Firestone High School[Akron,OH], and I play clarinet for marching! Yaaay. Uh... I whack myself in the nose with my mouthpiece while doing horns up/down drills at Band Camp... o_o OH! Story time~! Well, in 7th grade our band director told us to get new mouthpieces and ligatures, to help our sound... so, I did, and it worked, and I was happy especially cause my old one sucks.... but then one day, my clarinet was gone from the cabinet! O_O I looked all over, and found it in the trumpet section.. it was fine, except for the fact that they BROKE my new mouthpiece! crying It made me very sad. I'm still playing on my old one now, cause I can't get a student discount anymore. Well, that was a fun story. Who here chews on new reeds?! *raises hand* biggrin I do,they taste kinda warm..like paper. I eat paper too, but not if it has ink on it. Who here is going to the BOA thingy in Indianapolis? We're planned to go, but I really have no idea what's going on. sweatdrop YAAAY *CHEER* *too enthusiastic*Trumpet-players are always so rude, but BREAKING A CLARINET MOUTHPIECE?!?! They're definantly plotting something...lol

Sheesh, am I the only one here who's been playing the clarinet for.....1.5 years?? Probably because all you people are in High School, and I'm over here in Junior High....I think....I don't know.....
I discovered something weird a few weeks ago.....if you wear flavored chap stick and play the clarinet, the reed tasteslike the chap stick after just a few hours/minutes! I was so happy the day my reed was watermelon-flavored 4laugh !
