The boy smiled warmly at her and bowed his head at her politely, then turned his attention to Leyenda, who wanted to ask him about a custom bag.
Earendil had decided against making a purchase this time, and he wandered over to Lin to see what she had gotten.
"May I see what you bought?" he asked her with a grin.

"A new bag," Lin took it out and held it up for him to see.
She was sure it would last her a long while especially if she got it runed before using it.
"See, and it's a lot softer than what I have so when I get it runed it'll be really nice to carry around instead."

Earendil whistled softly, taking the bag and holding it in his hands. "Soft," he murmured softly, his tone filled with awe. "I've never seen such supple leather ..."
He pursed his lips thoughtfully. "I should see about getting another pair of boots made, mine are almost worn through and I didn't bring a second pair ... perhaps foolish on my part. But I would love to have a few pairs of this quality ..."
He turned to the boy, but seeing that he was in conversation with Leyenda, he decided that he would wait to ask about it.

"Huh... I wouldn't have thought about that," Lin admitted.
She disliked boots and most footwear to begin with, so they had never been high on her list to get. Though Earendil had a good point, with it being as soft was it was, maybe it was worth getting a pair of boots made with this leather.
Actually that brought the question, what animal's hide was use to make this?
"It is quite amazing, I haven't seen anything like this, and I've seen leather products before."

"I've seen a great many leather products," Earendil replied, still running his hand over the bag, "and of high quality, too. But this surpasses them all. It hardly feels like leather at all."
He wondered if it would be possible to learn their methods from them, and bring them back to his own people, and have the same quality of products there as here.

"It doesn't does it?" Lin asked looking back at the leather.
The only thing she had seen that was close to this was artificial but she didn't mention that as she felt it would be hard to explain.
"I don't know much about the leather process, so I wonder how it's done..."

"I know there's something about soaking it, and working it," Earendil shrugged, handing the bag back to Lin, "but that's about the limit of my knowledge. Shiro would know more I'm sure."
It seemed that Leyenda had finished speaking with the boy, and Earendil smiled at Lin. "I'm going to ask about the boots, I'll be right back."
And he headed off to talk to the boy.

"Okay," Lin murmured watching Earendil go off.
Tucking the bag back into her travel bag Lin wandered over to Leyenda to see how requesting the custom bag went.
"So, how did it go?" Lin asked.

Leyenda smiled. "He wants us to come back in the morning so that his mother can see Kelirahc's dragon," she replied. "She's the one who makes the bags, so she has to see the reference in order to be able to copy it." She shrugged. "I could have just asked for a dragon, but I think it would be neat to have it actually look like Kelirahc's."
She still hadn't been able to summon her own dragon, so she had no idea what it might end up looking like.
"And as for the cost," she added, "he's asked that I bring an assortment of items. As it's a custom piece, his mother would ask more than the regular price, and of course it's up to her how much it would be."

Lin nodded at that, it only made sense actually.
"That sounds perfect," Lin murmured.
More so since it could look like Kelirahc's dragon, so that was something special.

"I kind of wish I could summon my own dragon," Leyenda murmured softly, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks. "I just think it would be so amazing ... and I have to admit, I'm curious to know ... would it look like his? Or be different? Or will I ever be able to even summon it? He grew up in that culture, it's so natural to him ... but we've been married two years now and I still haven't been able to even start to summon my dragon, not even a sparkle."

Lin tilted her head for a moment, "Those are good questions."
She also wondered if part of the reason why Kelirahc could summon his so easily was because he grew up with the culture. The idea was probably as natural as breathing.
"Would Kelirahc know?"

Leyenda shook his head. "He just says that sometimes it takes people years to learn how to do it, though he does admit that even the youngest and most inexperienced people can always get at least a shimmer or something. I don't know, maybe it's because we're of different races, or because we just have different abilities ... I just know that I haven't been able to get it at all."
It was disappointing to her because she wanted very much to have something like that between them - it was after all the very symbol of their marriage, and she had received it from him in the first place. She couldn't help but be afraid that somehow it meant that their bond was not as complete as it was meant to be.

Lin looked thoughtfully at Leyenda, "It's based on a pact, I don't think it has to do with races or abilities. I think it's just a state of mind."
It might sound odd to say, but she was use to the whole mind over matter thing. A lot of things back home was based off of that.
"This whole concept of summoning is as natural and normal as being born with a gift," Lin murmured, "The only difference is, they need someone to grant the marks, a gift giver hasn't been needed in centuries.. more than that but my history on the matter is shaky."
She tapped her hand against her thigh as if to think about it.
"What I mean is, don't worry about it so much. The more you worry about if you can do, the harder it is to do it. Sometimes you have to just not think on it too hard, just believe it will happen."

Leyenda smiled ruefully at Lin. "You make it sound so easy," she laughed. "But yes, I know what you mean. I'm sure it will come eventually."
She knew Kelirahc had every confidence that she would get it someday, and that helped her feel more confident as well. She also knew that while he would like it if she would also be able to do it, he would not think any less of her if she were unable.
Earendil joined them again and smiled at them. "Everyone set?" he asked brightly.
