Amane glanced down avoiding the brief looks of the nobility unaware it looked almost as if she had bowed her head to them "Well I didn't expect there to be a sudden announcement to come the moment we arrived. Still thinking about it... is there any need to hide Merric? You are the king's nephew, surely they wouldn't dare stop you having him here" the thought suddenly occurred.
Mu laughed "I'm with Amane. Don't let your pet miss out on all the fun and who can really stop him but you" she agreed having bowed upon hearing the announcement having guessed that's what the elvish had meant. And even so it seems strange to bother making the rooms like this so big if theres no need to accommodate for anything short of a giant. Guess the original builder must have just been a show off heh "
Hebal curtsied with a small giggle "Yeah its really spectacular though might be a little hard to tune out of some of the conversations going around the room. Strange how theres no royals yet. If It were my party I would make sure to be first there though maybe the queen is unwell or the king is having to rush around after waiting to greet really late guests."
Alpha scratched his chin "Well that's some homework for you to brush up on. Doesn't surprise me since many people theorise that fiends may have once been heavily connected to the moon. Though you might have to tell me what I am supposed to do. That buffet looks great but I don't see anyone eating it" he whispered.

Felina laughed but stopped briefly "Hmm apparently Zadina is already at the party. But hey I guess you are being a bit of a bad influence on me for me to come out with a suggestion like that hehe or maybe could just settle on getting Hayate drunk instead as it would probably be easier than dad if plain asking him doesn't work. We could probably get Hebal to read for about ten minutes provided we make sure its a book with pictures and while Alpha can read it would probably take naughty pictures to keep him from getting bored."
Hayate sighed shaking his head "I know, I know the kitchen team did some great food but we can't eat it now. Its tradition for some reason that the king always takes the first piece of food off the table. Drove me crazy the one time as a kid I managed to get brought along by the family to this event. I could show you how to dance though you might end up receiving some funny looks though" he smirked.

Oassu sighed "I wonder how many ancient texts are picture books for that" he said imagining Hebal building a tower with the books "We'd probably never be allowed back in the library if they kicked up a fuss still lets go see Zadina then, wish him a happy dragon festival." he said.
Zadina glanced at Hebal curiously "Well any noble of particular note gets announced, Cousin Felina and the King will likely get the same treatment but you are probably right about Merric, still it's important to keep up appearances and I wouldn't want him running loose to annoy other guests" he said letting Merric pop out of his cloak a bit now that all eyes weren't on them" he said
Jeckhart smiled slightly "Well maybe they are just waiting to make a more important entrance by letting all the guests arrive first, I imagine that's what everyone is actually waiting for" he said "Though I'm impressed you can hear things so well to pick out specific conversations in a bustling place like this Hebal" he added.

Hebal scratched her head "Well that seems rude to me but ok I guess if that's how culture here goes. I cant hear all the conversations in the room as my hearing isn't that good even if viera are alert to sounds. It doesn't make a difference because you are one of the only people here not speaking elvish and I was curious since they mentioned Zadina. Though I can smell things really gooooood. You must try.. the pork with me soon" she added almost saying chicken wings but stopped in case she upset Jeckhart.
Amane smiled reaching out and petting Merric "Well look on the bright side, that little chocobo may make for good conversation or prove to be a nice little ice breaker when dealing with people. For who cannot smile at such a cute thing. And maybe we can find him food too for the party so he spends more time eating and less time trying to grab at other peoples shiny jewels" she suggested.
"Theres apples down the table and other green things though there doesn't look like enough of either of those two to accommodate for every guest unless you have one of them "bottomless bowls" that magically refills with stuff after use" Mu pointed out ignoring the next couple of announcements to watch the food.
Alpha snickered "They will probably be all jealous that they didn't get to dance with such a dashing gentleman like myself if they are going to be giving any funny looks" he joked back glancing own the table. "I cant imagine you having enjoyed this event much as a kid though out of interest... which guests is it that are your family? Point them out for me" he requested.

Felina shook her head "Not without compensation money anyway and the cost of damages covered. Still you are right lets not get too ahead of ourselves" she agreed putting Cyid on her shoulder before giving the guards a nod to let her in through the door. This is usually the main bit that makes me nervous all night" she managed to whisper while she grabbed Oassu's hand ready for the announcement and the turning of most of the heads In the room that came what felt like 10 seconds later.
Hayate paused unsure if it was worth introducing Alpha "well lets see...that oldish lady over there in the long fancy purple dress and hat would be the one I always referred to as mother. And the other one is across the room looking out the window" he explained turning to look at Oassu and Felina as they entered the room. "And poor Oassu probably now has the entire room watching him" he whispered.

Oassu swallowed hard squeezing Felina's hand tightly "Well don't tell me that, I'm kinda relying on you to not make me nervous" he whispered quickly as he tried to make himself seem as tall as possible and the doors opened onto the bright ballroom.
Zadina tilted his head somewhat curious as to what others would be saying about him hearing Hebal mention people were talking about him "Well I hope so because he's certainly interested in my clasp" he said watching Merric kweh and tap the golden pin in an attempt to draw Zadina's attention to it. Zadina petted him until he quietened down "But look see, my cousin is here" he said turning around and joining in the applause as she was announced.
Jeckhart nodded "Well it makes sense for elvish to be the most common but I can see some Viera and other races around the hall but I'm sure plenty of them know Agralian too if you wanted to go mingle" he said pausing to applaud Oassu and Felina "Though sure we should get something to eat though I hope they've got plenty of fruit and nuts as well, they taste better than pork" he said wondering why Hebal had paused slightly.

Hebal clapped her hands and cheered watching Felina and Oassu enter the room "Psst remind me why we are applauding all this again hehe" she whispered to Jeckhart under the sound of the clapping. "But I don't see why there wouldn't be any fruit or nuts in an elven feast since its what they are all famous for eating. Though it might be weird talking to them viera. I mean one of them is a male and the pretty grey one comes from Satoshi's country so we might have nothing in common"
Amane giggled at Merric but quickly quietened down and turned around to take a look at the entrance "Ooh wow your cousin looks very pretty tonight and not just because of that fancy looking tiara. And her little pet bunny matches her outfit pretty well... maybe that's part of the reason why they picked it hehe"
"Yeah Felina looks like she is used to this by now and looks greati that dress." Mu agreed with Amane with a small approving nod at the dress Mr Oassu on the other had couldn't look anymore uncomfortable if he tried not that I can blame him" she snickered.
Alpha sighed giving a round of applause making an extra effort not to be too loud "Ahh and there we go, another set of cheers about people being able to enter a door without tripping over or breaking stuff. Though I will say I expected your adoptive parents to have been older looking than that. And do they ever feel as out of place at these as we do right now?"

Felina smiled petting Cid while she waited eagerly for the rest of the party to stop looking at them "Sorry but even princesses are prone to self consciousness when being looked upon by so many though you look great dear. Glad I went to so much effort to get you all scrubbed up for sure" she assured him letting out a small sigh of relief when people moved away.
"Hey there you two, you look great together up there. Its also nice to see some more familiar faces around too" came the excited voice of Corella the moment the couple had room to move around. "I was actually looking for Zadina but you are also good company and more so than my bodyguard anyway" she quietly added indicating to a woman not too far away blending in with the rest of the guests.
Hayate shrugged slipping his hands back into his pockets "you just celebrate them being royalty and it really is who can suck up the most at times" he agreed turning back around. "Sure they do. If you know where to look, you can see a whole bunch of misfits. Bodyguards in the corner, some behind the guests. Servants and waiters. Then some of the guests like yourself though its often the partners of diplomats and other officials and a few of the lower class families who feel the most out of place. I mean the best example would be off the top of my head... General Vistai's husband gets invited as a plus one every year. Though the few times he does show up half of them wont go within 10 meters of him purely because he works as a journalist. Even his wife manages to clash with a few of the guests. Female military officials and noblemen don't mix well. It's not often they get challenged by women of no noble status" he laughed.

Oassu sighed and slumped slightly once eyes were off him "Well that was certainly a pain, probably would have been gasps if I hadn't scrubbed up after all" he mentioned to Felina before Corella hopped up "Yes we'd heard Zadina was here too, bit of a surprise to us as well but I'm sure we'll find him, if he's with Hebal I'm sure she'll stand out well enough" he chuckled glancing past Corella to the crowd where her bodyguard was "Do you really need a bodyguard at your age in your own palace?" he asked surprised.
Jeckhart smiled "I figure it's just nice as everyone applauded for us after all" he said glancing at the grey Viera "Is she pretty in your culture? I wouldn't say she's any prettier than you" he said tilting his head in thought "Is it the colour of fur? I've not seen man pale Viera like that, wonder why there's one from Satoshi's country over here" he said ponderously.
Zadina nodded "That's little Cid, though I wonder how they got a bow-tie on him didn't think they made them for rabbits" he said wondering if he could get a similar one for Merric "Still lets go over and say hi then get something to eat yeah?" he asked somewhat excitedly.

Hebal nodded her head catching another glance at the viera "Oh yeah light coloured viera are seen as highly attractive in most viera cultures. The grey is really pretty but they have nothing compared to the ones from the far north. They have beautiful white fur almost the same colour as the fresh snow that they hunt upon though they are the least common of us all. You might see them from time to time. I hear your clan has a lot of bases up there because of how uninhabited the lands are. I've visited one of them"
Amane smiled "They gave Cid a bow tie? I didn't even notice but I bet that will look so adorable and I would love to see it. Then maybe we can introduce you to her Miss Mu. I'll bet she has heard a load about you from your dad" she suggested
Mu smiled back at Amane and nodded her head "Well that sounds like a plan to me. It's this way to Felina. The good thing about her having bright blue hair is it makes her stand right out through the crowd. Though if she has heard a little about me then it might make a few things easier. Not wanting to be glared at by a few dozen guards"
Alpha raised his eyebrow "Well they are probably just terrified that if they are not careful some kind of scandal of theirs might end up in the paper within a couple of days of the party. Don't have any sympathy for the staff here though as I bet they are paid well. I mean, how much is Adohand getting paid for his work tonight? Must be enough to live comfortably for a good while"

Corella shrugged "I don't know. It was mother who insisted that I should have one keeping an eye on me. Something along the lines 'of now both Felina and Elithana are spoken for we are going to have to be extra careful with you' was what she told me when I protested. And Hebal is the viera with the funny looking esr right?" she whiepred for confirmation.
Felina gasped "wll you picked the right one but I think Hebal has wonderful looking ears" she defended her friend trying to see what she was wearing. "You get used to seeing bodyguards after a little while and if need be can always send them away when you really want private time. Sounds exactly like how I can picture mum scheming" she quietly admitted.
Hayate nodded "Well he is getting a nice 20k per hour but he's just been cooking for a lot of guests. The other staff not doing things like that wont even get half of that for the nights work and before you think of getting a job here I will tell you now that you would fail the background checks. It's harder than people think to get a job here."

Oassu cringed slightly "You probably shouldn't say that about her ear, she's probably a little self-conscious about it, though your mother is probably just looking out for you, doesn't want you charmed away by just any random noble" he said shrugging.
Jeckhart tilted his head surprised "You have? When did you get to go to one of our northern bases, I knew we were looking out for you and you'd escaped from the...Dark Association" he said quietly "but I don't really know that much else about your past to be honest as fascinating as you are" he said hanging his head a little in shame.
Zadina smiled "Actually brighter coloured hairs aren't all that uncommon in elven culture, might be why people think we are a little weird at times" he said greeting a few elves as they bowed to him as they passed "Oh look Cousin Corella is with them as well!" he said excitedly speeding up as he moved towards them.

Hebal froze her ears twitching suddenly at the mention of her past. "Oh umm theres a lot about my past that I really don't want to talk about though I thik your clan probably has a really big public access file on me somewhere now about me if it really interests you. Though in that case I was badly hurt and Miss Hikari took me there for treatment. The less you know the better. I don't want to make the mood all sad at the party with sob stories. I'm happy now and that's all that matters" she assured him.
Mu shook her head "Yeah that's true though the most common ones are just blondes and white and silvers and light browns. Blue and Pink hair like your own is really rare even with you elves. Theres only like one or two other blue haired people in the room not related to you. Though I guss your hair colour must be rarer still. Not seen many elves with hair as dark as yours" she added to Zadina.
"Well I think all elves in general have really pretty hair. Though Mr Hayate could probably do with looking after his better" Amane whispered slowly shuffling after Zadina. "Umm... happy dragon festival Princess Felina and Princess Corella and Mr Oassu. You all look really good today In those party clothes" she shyly greeted them bowing her head.
Alpha rolled his eyes "As if I would want a job here. You and I both know that I don't respond well to authority even if I could work my way up to the higher paid jobs within the palace. Still let us move for the kids are moving and the rest of our party are here. And with pay like yours, you're buying everyone drinks next time we are near a bar"

Corella groaned shaking her head "I would like her to give me a little credit that I know how to take care of myself without someone being there to chase off anything male that comes near me" she complained glancing up in time to spot Zadina edging towards her "Heya cousin, it's a great surprise to see you dropped by!" she greeted him having to lean forward in her dress to hug him. "Happy dragon festival, I'm guessing you must be the Amane I have heard about?"
Felina smiled but hesitated before she reached out to pat the young viera on the head "Happy dragon festival to you too. Now don't you look adorable in that dress. Did someone buy you it for the festival?" she asked before giving Zadina a hug to greet him. "Was certainly a surprise to see you guys in Yithra for the festival.. and you are.. Miss Mu right? Alphas daughter? I heard the announcer earlier" she guessed releasing Zadina seeing an extra person. "And who is that guy with Hebal" she whispered failing to recognise Jeckhart.
Hayate nodded "Yes I could see you get fired pretty easily. You don't exactly have much class either and would probably eat all the food. Good thing we don't plan on going anywhere with a lot of bars soon then if you can enforce that one" he quietly added moving around behind Zadina. "As you can see, we ended up with some extra visitors. Good thing your dad is so welcoming to your strange looking friends like Alpha" he told Felina.

Zadina nodded "That's Mr Jeckhart, he's one of Kimino's friends who looked after me when I was ill, he's a bit poorly himself right now so Mr Kimino trusted him to us to look after until they've figured out a way to heal him" he explained before he happily hugged Corella "Hi Corella it's great to see you, was hoping I could make it a nice big surprise, figured I should probably have fixed a few things back home since I'd been away so long as well" he said giving Felina a hug as well "And yes this is Miss Mu and my friend Amane, she's a summoner!" he said excitedly nudging Amane forward to talk "Though I suppose my hair is quite rare amongst elves Miss Mu I've never really thought about my hair too much" he lied.
Oassu grinned "Nice to see you Zadina and you too Amane" he said looking over the children at Jeckhart in the background "Well so long as he doesn't cause any trouble for you Hayate I guess it's alright" he said greeting Hayate and Alpha before turning back to Amane "Well you must be fair excited about being out of the forest for the first time eh?" he asked
Jeckhart paused nervously "Sorry to have troubled you and no I've not read all of your file Hebal, I'd rather you tell me only what your comfortable with after all and it's rude to pry" he said patting Hebal on the shoulder "Still forget about it for now go say hello to the others I'm sure the King will be here soon" he said
