I'm not really sure how it'd work though. You can't die from falling, the Portal's are one way only, and the most thing of a weapon that you get is that the Portal Gun has Gravity Gun capabilities. I suppose a race would be in order...
Now, if they incorporated it into HL2DM... twisted Think of a possible gravity gun upgrade.
I'm excited about the Strider Cannon too ^_^

I've seen Portals; I want it so badly. ;.;
And, I could think of a deathmatch-esque mode, involving infinite loops. XP

Strider cannon!
/me dives for cover.
You CAN die from falling. And if you manage to get someone stuck in an infinite loop, they can portal themselves out of it with a bit of portalplay. You could kill them if you picked up an item and threw it in their path, though.
It's bascially a Gravity Gun with Portal making abilities. Yay.
It would be INSANE in HL2DM. Even MORE insane would be strategic redirecting of bullets. Catch my drift?
Shoot an enemy from around a corner, create your own special cover, fall from the ceiling behind people, ETC.
Drop a car on someone :O!!!!
That would be nice. Very nice.
Now, if you only made one portal the entire time...Is it just black? I couldn't catch what happened in the video, but I think it's just black.
/me shrugs.

Typhoon_Omi I've seen Portals; I want it so badly. ;.;
And, I could think of a deathmatch-esque mode, involving infinite loops. XP I think it'd be fun to have the enemy walk into the room, possibly with guns-a-blazin', and then create a portal under them, with one strategically placed above it, then pushing a piece of wood in the way after they've gained enough momentum. xP It would be totally fun. And...It's all coded by VALVe and stuff...Why don't they do it! It shouldn't be too hard, especially since it all looks like it's on the Source engine.

Got a question for you guys. Doesn't this just basically say, "I did an action that got me pwned, do not want to change my next action due to me getting pwned by it again despite being given the chance to, and do not want to admit to the consequences of said pwnage" ? Quote: If Dreslin had been observing Ikibe's face, he may have seen that completely emotionless mask slip for a moment. For half a second, Ikibe smiles. Then his foot leaves the ground, arcing upwards as Ikibe lunges outwards to smash it into Dreslin's face. If he noticed the smile, the kick would be completely unseen. And if Dreslin took the kick dead on the chin, best case (for Dreslin) was it snapping the man's neck like a twig. If the other man couldn't raise his defenses in time the sheer force behind the kick would pulp his skull and continue right through. Even if he dodged, the shockwave-like backwash from the attack would be harmful as well. Block or not, before that one second finishes Ikibe moves. A blur would be the best any mortal could be expected to see as the cat-eared man distances himself from his opponent. "So..." Ikibe speaks, a rich baritone still loaded with contempt. "You can think after all, excellent. Now lets see if you can actually fight." With that he tears off the sleeve of his yukata covering the left shoulder. On it, the brilliant steel colored brand of a warhammer backed by a gear. Even as you watch the teeth of the gear begin to move, slowly at first, then faster, until they become a blur and the entire icon glows with golden light. The eerie thing is, the entire brand seems to be moving under his flesh. Ikibe stretches out the fingers on his right hand and lets the joints pop loudly while he floats. "This is the first God Seal, mortal, no more playing around." ----------------------------------Effects Notes------------------------------------ Dreslin's body should indeed stop the cannon fire. He would now be standing on the single remaining area of the arena proper above 30 feet. A strip of land as wide as he is and spanning a bit more than half the arena. The shield and the cannon worked perfectly in conjunction, likely because they were on proper energy patterns to cooperate or ignore one another or because they shield didn't prevent things from escaping inside, much like a living membrane. Of note, if Dreslin was still alive and in contact with the shield, for a moment he would still feel it even though Ikibe wasn't there. The cannon has three turns until it is ready to fire again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dreslin quote is to show the actual move that had taken place If Dreslin had been observing Ikibe's face, he may have seen that completely emotionless mask slip for a moment.
Whomever this guy was, apparently he had forgotten that the annulment stance was still in effect. A kick of this nature would have the kick be fully straightened out to avoid fumbling with the hands/arms. Dreslin noticed the kick coming and did a couple of things as the kick rose. His annulment stance was kept active on his body, however it was quickly turned off on his staff. While doing this, he quickly moved his head to his right a few inches and lowered it a bit. The effect? The kick didn't hit any part of the face, but rather the staff. Where the head formerly was. Normally, this would just be a normal block. However, this very happening would matter very much to Ikibe. For the staff it made of adamantium, known to be one of the hardest metals in fiction. The annulment stance ability was turned off the staff, which meant that anything that hit the staff would not have damage reduced by the ability. The damage would have to be dealt with the staff itself. In the force behind the kick versus the hardness of the staff, Ikibe stands a pretty good chance of having broken his own bare foot, if not several fractures within the bone. The kick would be stopped midflight due to not getting past the staff. The shockwave-like backwash from the kick prior to hitting the staff would be canceled out by the annulment stance still affecting Dreslin's body. The staff would normally have moved a bit from the force of the kick and would normally ******** up Dreslin's teeth from holding the teeth. However the annulment stance, would keep his teeth from being damaged. The rest of Ikibe's does not happen because Ikibe might wind of doing something en lieu of his now apparent ******** up bare foot. Ikibe As stated in the previous post, block or not, the rest of the actions happen anyway. And the author would like to note that he wouldn't have made the kick in the first place if it had had the slightest possibility of shattering his character's foot, Ikibe remains unharmed. I mean the guy ends up ******** up his foot, wants to blur back during said ******** up which would end up jerk the broken parts of the foot in other directions (lotsa movement in very short time), causing even further damage, doesn't want to admit it, and wants to ignore any damage done during the entire happening, and wants to come out 'unharmed'. I am not the best roleplayer around, but doesn't just scream godmodding?

You can die from falling in Portal? Sure about that? In the demo the same crew worked on for their final project at Digipen, you couldn't die from falls at all.
The portal itself...well...have you ever seen or played Prey? In essence, it's just like those portals, but a little rougher.
I love Valve though. HumanHead just releases Prey, which made everyone think "Holy s**t, 2 places at once omg!" with flawless portals. And then, Valve totally one ups them rofl 7 years for almost nothing. Prey's still fun as hell, though.

My character wouldn't've cared about that smile at all and would've sensed the foot heading towards his face.
With his weaponry, the foot would be sliced off, flying upwards, still at Ken's face, although the spin on it from contacting the blades would cause it to twirl slightly, at which point, the bloody leg-portion would end up in my character's mouth, at which point he would get the swords on his back to come around, which would slice that guy's head off while I chewed the bloody foot and portions of it fell onto his body, before consuming the rest of him.
Ahem..
But yeah, that whole "My action happens, regardless!" is like two posts. You should just respond to it as such.
In which you pretty much make two posts, also.
I didn't read all of it, BTW.
And if he moved after you hurt his foot, his leg would be in pain a LOT. Lest he didn't use the leg, or something to traverse to do his other move...

Seemingly, his other excuse for negating ANY foot damage beyond the broken foot is that he is levitating. Keep in mind, he doesn't want to admit that I ******** up his foot in THE FIRST PLACE.

Prey's still fun as hell, though. XD You can die from falling in a portal if that portal sends you somewhere. You can die from FALLS, though. Which is how lots of stuff will happen. If you strategically fall, you can pop out of another portal unharmed and just flying really fast. It'd be like sprinting X 2 or something, and you could use it to go REALLYFAST! if you needed to. Say, There was a cliff. I jump off the cliff and look really dumb. Before I hit the ground, I place a portal on the side of the cliff, pointing across the desert-area. And then I place one directly under me. I land in the one under me, and go to the one in the side and I'm propelled out with the same speed I had when I was falling. Thus propelling me across the desert, like a bullet, to the nearest oasis filled with hawt girls. /me nods.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smGDAS7iseAThen. Dreslin: Yeah, wtk. I wish people would admit damage more. I heffing took four bullets in my character, although they were all un-lethal ones. But for good reason. Why would you engineer something to have the same weaknesses as normal humans? Why? That would be dumb, wouldn't it? WHY DO GUNDAMS HAVE THEIR CAMERAS IN THEIR HEADS!? This questions has bugged me for a while. You wouldn't make the head of a gundam the same whole center of activity...And I don't recall which series it was that had everything head-based...Lots of the cockpits are placed according to their names, though. Which is semi-smart, but...How often do people get kicked in the crotch? A lot? And it's a weak point, right? Why would you do something so dumb X.x

As we're on the subject of Portal... clickyFor those who don't know, that's the original site of the team before Valve swept them up. On that site is a demo of what Portal will/should be like. It looks a helluva lot different, but the gameplay is there. Short 6 level download. Nothing much.
