Tao wouldn't find himself alone with his thoughts for much longer. For time now something had been following him, lurking in the shadows as he traveled up the side of the volcano. She'd smelled the blood, that tinge of iron reminding her of the meal preferred by her species. Unlike those before her, she was not crazed for this taste. No, she was not like her father...
Claws scrapped against stone as the Pokemon clambered up onto a rock, her shadow casting down upon Tao in a heroic silhouette ">You who murder the innocent and laugh shall go no further!<" A strong, feminine voice called out ">In-i-i--in the name of love and justice your path of carnage ends here!<" The Heatmor called out, her cheeks glowing bright red. Either she was embarrassed by that line she'd spouted, or she was preparing a fire-type attack.
It would seem Tao was faced with the area's latest Guardian. There'd be no avoiding this fight!
It would take but a few seconds before Kin-Hua would find the Gourgeist grabbing her under the arms and simply dragging her into the appropriate chair and desk. The next instant a hand would push her head against the desk, the various Pumpkaboo following suit and closing their eyes. Each seemed to will their ahoge into an odd gesture while the Gourgeist known as Peek-a-boo gave Jin-hua a thumbs up. It would seem she was meant to do the same...wait....could this be....?
Sparks would fly as a tremendous flash brightened up the area. Deo's attack had been met with an equal force of sorts, striking just the edge of Vorpal, deflecting it into a nearby deposit of iron.
Twisting his cord like arms so that they were properly crossed, his legs snapped together as his posture became straight. The displeasure in this 'miss' was clear upon his face. Remaining perfectly still, the Deoxys would hover in the air, looking down on Vorpal from above. He'd no need to bring himself down to the level of a common blade; even one of a colour he had not seen.
Tao looked up at the pokemon, Tao's precense seemed extremely diminutive as he felt. Well, he'd fight fire with fire, he guessed. Fire that didn't use fire... He let Mawashi out of his ball. Unfortunately, he completely didn't understand what the Heatmor said.
The Pansear appeared in the usual glow of light stretching and grinned. ">Ah...Good to be let out!<" He shot his scrawny trainer a small accusing look, ">I don't exactly enjoy being cooped up in a small sphere, y'know.<" The fire-type stretched a for while longer and then noticed the Heatmor. He pointed at the area guardian and looked at his trainer, ">Hey, kid! Did you do something dumb again and made this beautiful lady angry?<"
Tao kept his eye on the Heatmor. He seriously wished he had more pokeballs but sadly you can't have everything in the world. He mentally sighed.

The personality of this Mudkip is very different from its previous incarnation. The Pansear seemed to hate pokemon trainers for some reason during their first encounter. Who knows if the Fire-type will have a change of heart. The Baltoy crashed down down onto the earth, perhaps harder that she intended. >WOOHOO! Didya see that?< she asked perkily. Though a move like this would have been detrimental to her in a normal battle, she was too psyched to care. And furthermore, this battle and this place weren't particularly normal. She spun on the ground, balanced precariously, and gave Fluke a nod. >C'mon, c'mon! Whatcha waiting for?< She'd dragged her body backwards, weaving carefully.

But she wasn't fast or high enough. Takeshi's teeth sunk into her small, frail body, and she could feel a couple of her ribs snap. With a wordless, incoherent scream, she pulled higher into the trees-- she may have been flinched into defense, but she wouldn't stop running.
Gin watched as his Charmander landed a strong blow. He was certain the battle wouldn't last much longer.
Takeshi felt something snap when he bit down and the bloodlust began to show in his eyes turning them a deeper color. The Charmander watched as his opponent once more tried to fly up into the air. Seeing her flinch, he lunged ready to Bite once more! More flesh! More blood! Maybe even a piece to bring back to his new buddy Mignonne?!

Takeshi gains 19 EXP!
The Tailow's body crashed to the ground-- not dead yet. No more meat for Takeshi to chew on... but on the plus side, he was free to move forward!
Gin had predicted correctly. The final blow landed and he picked up the oddly disappointed Charmander and placed him on his shoulder. Glancing around and staying alert, the shinobi and his Pokemon continued through the forest and onward!
No blood...no flesh. Disappointed he couldn't bring something to impress his new buddy, he let out a sigh. Well better luck next battle. Instead he would also follow his instincts as he watched the area when they continued moving forward.

It seemed that bird was the word. A Pidgey sat in a tree, watching the pair carefully. It wasn't attacking, however... unless they chose to. But why would they attack, when the world had just opened up?
Mystery Mountain
After making your way through the deadly forest, the next thing you see is a huge mountain looming overhead. The worn stone path that swerves in an S shape back and forth leading up to the top. The second is the great gust of icy wind that hits your face. The temperature begins to drop drastically after taking the first few steps upward. Further on, several igloos can be seen on the left side. Be careful not to slip. The walkway is slick with ice and the more you climb, the steeper the drop. The winter wonderland looks pretty but not all appearances are as they seem. Who knows what creatures lurk hidden in the dark corners.
They had just reached the end of the forest. In front of them was an icy mountain. A new territory...new Pokemon... The boy couldn't wait to see what could possibly lie in this terrain. That in mind, he stepped forward silently and carefully.

So far, so good. They were still at the bottom but making their way upwards. The wind picked up and the snow started. The boy pulled a cloak out of his pack and then continued forward. Shinobi were used to traveling in all sorts of terrain and weather. This was nothing new for him. Best to always be prepared.

The scrap of claw against rock would come as the initial response to the Pansear's words ">I do hope you take this seriously<" She stated flatly, running her claws against the rock once more. She wasn't just assessing her opponent, but preparing for the battle to come. Sharpening her greatest weapon, she was using Hone Claw!
Was the snow getting thicker? It was starting to increase and went from light snow to heavy snowfall along with ice falling. The boy continued to trudge forward, his footprints from behind disappearing as fast as they appeared. It would be easy to get lost in an area like this.

Besides the sound of the snow falling, the area was empty. There were no Pokemon sounds which were odd. Was this area really dangerous? Or was there a predator lurking around somewhere? Keeping alert, Gin would resume moving forward.
