Kisa seemed to materialize in front of them again. "Come now, brother," she said when Shane slipped into a hunting crouch. "Give the girl over here and no blood need be spilt." She smirked and held out her hand.

Kisa smirked again, and her form seemed to waver like an illusion. At this same time, the real Kisa appeared behind the two and she slid a knife to Hope's throat and pulled her back. "Because," she whispered in Hope's ear. "You're important to Shane, and I need something from him."

"I need two things," Kisa whispered. "Now be a good little girl and shut up!" She pushed the knife harder into Hope's neck and tugged on her hair.
"Let her go!" Shane cried, slipping back, ready to attack. He waited for Kisa to give him an opening so he wouldn't hurt Hope.

"Give me my knife, brother," Kisa demanded. "And you'll get the pendant."
Shane couldn't argue with her. He threw the knife so it landed point down in the dirt at Kisa's feet.
Kisa in return reached into her bodice and pulled out the pendant, and threw it to Shane.
"Release Hope," Shane demanded.
"So fight me," Kisa said.

"Oh no I couldn'tve," Kisa said, tugging hard on Hope's hair. "He wouldn't give it his all, you see. And I think I told you to shut up!"
"Fine," Shane said. "I'll fight you."

"It's just something to succeed my father as the head of the family," Kisa said, pulling an ornate chain from her neck. She pulled Hope to a tree and fastened the girl's wrists to a low branch with the chain. "It'll burn you if you try to escape," she said, before turning back to Shane.
"Was that necessary?" Shane asked.
"It keeps her away from the fight," Kisa said. "You might thank me."

Hope made a face at Kisa. She glanced to Shane to see what he would do.

"We fight to a yield," Kisa said. Then she turned sharply around to face Hope. "Don't involve yourself in this fight at all, girl," she snarled. "Or I'll kill you myself, and it won't be fast or painless."
"Don't threaten her!" Shane screamed, and leapt at Kisa while her back was turned.
