Kimyanji Eccentric Iconoclast That makes it an abjad, no? Abjads are cool. Yep... it is! Hebrew, and Farsi are also... What makes Abjads special is that they don't always need vowels. The previous sentence would look like this without short vowels: WT MaeKS 'BJDS SPCL 'S ThAT ThY DNT 'LWYS NeeD VWLS... ACCRDNG T A WKPDIA 'ARTCL ThAT 'S CoLD "devowling"... SAWNDS A LTL GRoTSQ, DSNT 'T? (According to a Wikipedia article that is called "devowling"... Sounds a little grotesque, doesn't it?)Personally I'd call it "disemvowelling".

LOL! At least It makes sence to me, seeing that all I did was transliterate the sentence below into Arabic, then Latinized it... This is what a speaker of Arabic, Hebrew, or Farsi comprihends when reading their vowelless scripts... rofl Actually, I think your definition is correct... btw, right now I have the worst case of dejavu you could imagine...

Also, I used to have a sligth but brief infatuation with the Russian language when I was studing the Revolution.
