(Thanks Serethiel Maerukai)
That actually sounds kind of gross. I'm not terribly fond of honey though, so my opinion is a bit biased.

Please excuse my b***h rampage. But if you want to use artwork in this guild, it needs to be yours, and you need to have permission.
Am I a nazi? Maybe, but a copyright is a copyright is a copyright. Keyword there, copy.
Which means if you copy it and repost it somewhere, you're using it. It doesn't matter if you're making a profit or not, you're knowingly exploiting someone's creation.
Which is stealing.
Have some ******** respect for people's livelihoods and buy your own damn character art. Aglo's done it, Valatar's done it, Romanov has done it. If you can't afford it, there's a freebie forum. But don't use other people's s**t. I don't care if everyone on google has made a copy of it, it doesn't make it okay for you to do it too.
I rest my ******** case. Have a nice day.

No.
But I don't agree with it. It's stealing, unless you get permission. Period.

Serethiel Maerukai No.
But I don't agree with it. It's stealing, unless you get permission. Period. This reminds me of the that issue. You know, one of those issue being looked over. You know with the whole stolen films and then them being put, not sold on the internet. Law enforcers are still worried how to create a law that protects the creators, but doesn't cause the mass arrest of millions of people. I'm sure we've all something like use Limewire or something like it. So I can understand the call to not steal artwork, but not the anger. Not in total, anyway. Some artwork has been out in the internet with no attachment or names. Which makes it hard to give credit, when it due. Other has been used everywhere and one has stepped forward to claim it. Is it possible that we could work on that part of it?

With that kind of logic, you're saying that if someone made a copy of my art, and posted it it somewhere without me knowing about it or used it, that because I didn't step forward, it would be okay for them to use it? As far as music goes, I buy music from every artist I like, but a lot of the industry is controlled and distorted by only a handful of big name labels. I would get into more of the logistics of it, but that would take me all day.
You're starting to make this sound like the Orphaned Works Bill, which pretty much would make it okay for any dumb ******** to steal my work just because they couldn't get in contact with me or figure out who the owner of the copyright is. Fortunately it has seen violent opposition since it was proposed.
No, I'm sorry, but if you all want to do that, you can do it outside the guild. Otherwise, you draw your own pictures, pay your own artist, find someone in the freebie forum, or ask the artist permission. There are plenty of creative people in here. I know a lot of you are fans of Todd Lockwood's work; I am sure if you asked him he would be happy to let you use it so long as you weren't making a profit off it. He really is a nice guy. Same goes for my work, or anyone else's. We have a right to be defensive over our livelihood. It's not that hard to ask permission. There are millions of pictures out there, and if you can't use one, I'm sure you can find another.

But, the MAIN reason that I hate seeing copyrighted work used for roleplays is the lack of creativity involved. It shows me you didn't put much thought into your character and pasted in a coincidentally similar image to go along with it, you slapped your skeleton together based on someone else's picture, or you couldn't be assed to write a simple description.
I would rather see YOUR creativity and YOUR character, whether it be your art or someone's you paid to draft out your idea or your OWN writing, not someone's purloined handiwork.

There are freebie forums. And I know there's decent artists in the AR that are pretty cheap.
You don't need a picture. I'd prefer you write your character description. I wrote mine, even though I drew art for my character.

Anyway, let's drop the subject. I'd simply prefer you all don't, because I would rather see your creativity than someone else's.
