Are Tzeench any good?

I haven't heard much about them, and really like the concept of lumbering empty armors.

I'm kind of concerned about the slow and purposeful rule, as it means that I could get my flanks owned up like crazy, and be extremely bad for games where I need to take objectives.

also one thing that I have been having problems with... when it says roll a dice and select a power, does that mean that I get stuck with that one power all through out the match or do I roll each time to see what I get?

This was also a source of confusion upon reading the IG codex, and people at the store are like uhh... I... am... not sure

Tzeench Coffin Marines are some of the toughest units in the game, you can bypass the slow and purposeful rule with a couple of Rhino's actually..

Slow and Purposeful means you don't have to worry about flanks because you'll be laying down a withering hail of fire. biggrin

Well, after a bit of deliberation and multiple army lists, I've come up with what I think is a decent 1,500 point World Eaters force. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Daemon Prince- 185
Mark of Khorne, Berserker Glaive, Daemonic Flight, Daemonic Essence, Daemonic Stature, Feel no Pain, Furious Charge

Khorne Berzerkers( 8 )- 203
Mark of Khorne, Aspiring Champion with power fist and Talisman of Burning Blood, Furious Charge, Khornate Chainaxes

Khorne Berzerkers( 8 )- 203
Mark of Khorne, Aspiring Champion with power fist and Talisman of Burning Blood, Furious Charge, Khornate Chainaxes

Khorne Berzerkers( 8 )- 266
Mark of Khorne, Aspiring Champion with power fist and Talisman of Burning Blood, Furious Charge, Khornate Chainaxes, Rhino Transport with Dozer Blades, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers

Chosen Berzerkers( 8 )- 648
Mark of Khorne, Aspiring Champions(All 8 of them, one of which is free due to the World Eaters favored number.), Talisman of Burning Blood, Rage of Khorne, Feel no Pain, Axes of Khorne, Furious Charge, Rhino transport with Extra Armor, Dozer Blade, Smoke Launchers, Mutated Hull

Total: 1,505

My friends and I normally allow a five point leeway, so I don't feel bad about going over. As you can see, the main punch in this army comes from the unit of Chosen and the Daemon Prince. I tried to keep the Prince relatively cheap, as I can expect most big guns pointed at him for a while. On the other hand, I tried to protect my unit of Chosen as best I could. Hopefully, the smoke launchers should get me two turns of decent movement before the transport goes sky high. After that, a good Blood Frenzy, or even a shitty one in most cases, should see the unit hit even a static armies lines. And of course, the normal Berzerkers are nothing to be laughed at either. The champions carry powerfists, which should give me atleast a slight chance against enemy armor.

Theres 2 big flaws in this list, to the constructive mobile!

First off, your chosen arent legal, well, they are, but they are a bit more expensive. Quote Codex Chaos Space Marine page 48

Any favoured unit allowed Aspiring Champions may upgrade one model to Aspiring Champion for free.

Right after getting that out of the way, although I personally like to have more models, your blunt core of combat is quite alright, problem is though, you have no ranged anti tank support. Hence Id suggest downgrading some things a bit to put down a predator or a dreadnought with a lascannon, simply to cripple skimmers and what not.

Yup, I come up with 683 for that unit.

I'm curious where you got the extra 35 points from Flashback... perhaps you believe that I bought 8 Talismans? I only purchased one, seeing as you only need one.

As for the one free champion, I did only get one free one. The rest were payed for.

That aside, thank your for the advice. I had considered some ranged combat options, but the main opponents of this list are going to be Black Templars. My friend plays a list devoid of armor, save for one Dreadnought. Hence the reason a predator didn't find it's way into the list. Aside from that, I can expect to face an Eldar force composed highly of Acpect Warriors, with only a single Vyper and a couple Jetbikes flying. Oh, and an Ork mob. Guess I should have mentioned all that to begin with. sweatdrop

Blegh wouldve posted the same thing even if I knew, but Im just a stuborn person. Anyway, the list looks decent and with the models youll be getting you can always downgrade and do whatnot later, as youll still be using the same models. Just test run it smile

On Khone

OMFG...... did anyone else notice that a lord with daemnic stature can "feel no pain" a lascannon? I just realized that. Dont forget that.
You may want to put in a dread dedicated to korn, 1 he blood rages, and two close combat weapons 4 attacks. You now have a dread that on a 1 moves D6+6 to the nearest enemy unit and has 8 attacks!, of course, you need to give it, little goodies like mutated hul and parasitic hull. Mutated hull gives you A13 an front and sides and 11 in the rear. With parasitic, you repair weapon destroyed and immobilized on a 4+at the end of EVERY turn. Plus the destroyer ability from the khorn list blood rages on a 1 or 2 and you re-roll a missed hit every close combat. Killa.
Sadly, on a 6 you get to shoot two combi-bolters twice. thats not all that bad when you think of it, stable firing platform 2 shots at 24 and 4 at 12 on a six it doubles to 4 at 24 and 8 at 12, re-rolling misses thanks to to being combi, this effectivly replaces an entire squad with bolters. woot.
Between you prince and the dread it would be hard to decide which to shoot. However..... this config i came up with cost.....140 points. Actually not that bad for what it does. Chaos dreads are a resourse that can be very effective.

On tzeentch.

A good solution to the slow rule is to make them come to you. Defliers are nice. bolt of change, a few followers, warp focus are great as well. Be patient. as tzeentch, you have two wound marines and can always fire up to 24" and with warp focus on bolt of change you can get up to 30". and having a few defilers the enemy will be having s8 ap3 shells raining on them the entire time. AS the tzeentch you are suspose to posses legendary patience to watch as your plans unfold.
If you must go on the offense just walk up the field and since your favored number is 9 they have to cut through 8, 2 wound marines to get to the sorcerer casting bolt of change twice a turn with no test required. Eye of tzeentch is good to. Re-roll a single to hit, wound, and an armouur save once in each of there own phases. Rhinos are a bit to unpredicable so i would stay away from them. Instead go with screamers and horrors and icons on your daemon prince who would be hiding amoungst the crowd.

Fixed, its now copyright legal.

Not to bash or anything, but this is just my sarcastic way of pointing out copyright laws that GW has been hammering about.

Well appearently one of my friends was in the giving mood and gave me a whole bunch of unwanted space marine/chaos space marine bits, although there arent enough bases and legs to fit most of the heavy weapons he supplied me. He also gave me Chaos Space Marine Codex, and there are so many options for Chaos it gives me a headache, a whole lot more complicated than Tau.
