Bast looked between Ayame and Petrel as she got volunteered to handle the negotiations, then up at James as he arrived. She felt a measure of relief that the medic had returned, but Ayame's response was doing a pretty good job of summarizing any feelings she could've had on the matter, so she didn't bother greeting him at this point. Instead, she addressed Petrel:
