[Cory .:. Dark Margin]

Cory grinned. It was a special occasion, after all. The first time he got to use his new technique, Maximum Bet. Cory held his free hand out in front of him, the blue and black fire enveloped it as he said, "Cataclysm Mk. V: Maximum Bet." In a flash, the three vanished from sight, the only thing left now being a small blue flame, floating at the center of where the ring of fire had been...

[The Betting Table]

Cory and the others would have reappeared in a grassy field with nothing to be seen for miles in any direction. While it was a well lit area, there was no sun, either. It was as if they'd traveled to an entirely new dimension.

Cory's image seemed to waver for a moment as he said, "Are you ready, guys?! Put ya guns on!" He burst forward, closing the distance instantly with a burst between Kyle and himself. The Revblade was high over the ronin's head, all revved up and ready to attack. "Engine Crusher!"

Sayrike::Train::Sleeping Car

Sayrike wasn't sure what she'd find upon entering the Sleeping Car--huge beds? Private flats? Cots?--but as if scorning her extreme expectations, the car just held a plain hallway lined with doors on either side. True to what Sora (or was it Kyle?) told her, there were curtains covering the windows on some of the doors. She walked past these and picked an empty room with an open curtain somewhere in the middle of the car, closer to the far end. "I think I'll take this one. It doesn't seem to have anyone in it." I hope it at least has a desk inside. Sayrike opened the door, and again she found something unusual for this magical train: a rather ordinary bunk bed and closets. And yes, there was a desk, just as she pictured it. It would be a good workplace for her later.

This brought her back to James' query. "Oh, this? Haha, well, this is a solar surfer I stole to escape from a bunch of pirates. I really taxed it, though, since I was riding it for a couple days straight, and some wiring went out right as I got to Port Royal. I crashed into the trees, and this is what's left. But the trees broke my fall rather well, and it didn't fracture the metal too much, so I think I'll be able to put this thing back together again. And, since this is Treasure Planet's Captain Silver, I think I could ask him for a bit of help. I'm really happy about that!" Sayrike smiled as she put down the pieces in the corner of the room by the desk. "And, not that it matters if I tell you, but I claim the top bunk." To emphasize this point, she took the main sail part and put it on top.

Her hands felt light and free, finally. She hadn't realized how tired they were getting. "So, shall we head back? And what's your story? What have you been doing in this world?"

{Kyle : Dark Margin -> The Betting Table}

Watching Cory, he was surprised to see the sudden shift in scenery. And there it was. Earth, rocks, ground, whatever you preferred to call it was right underneath him. He definitely had an advantage. As soon as Cory started to speak, Kyle got into a fighting stance. He would definitely be ready.

And while he had expected the sudden surge of speed, had expected the sudden attack, he hadn't expected that phrase. He almost burst out laughing, but he couldn't be distracted just yet. He had an attack to dodge. Or block. He could block it. But wasting all his mana on terramancy wasn't the best idea this early on. He had no idea how long this battle would last. Best to conserve energy where he could.

And then he still had to dodge the attack. He could back up, dodge left or right, but he had no way of knowing what kind of attack it could be. Because, as logic dictated, he hadn't named his regular strikes, therefore, this had to be a technique. Having no idea as to the power of the technique, blocking was out. And it could be something that would be able to strike to the left and right. But....

Pushing forward, he rushed just past Cory's right side, trusting that he wouldn't have a way to bring his blade down on him from that height. After getting past him, Kyle would spin on his heel and lunge towards Cory's back, aiming to cripple him instantly. Well that was the plan. Regardless, he still had to get in a bit of a taunt. As he lunged forward, he said "Put ya guns on!? And you insulted my hat, what the hell was that!"

[Alan :: Dark Margin -> The Betting Table]

And suddenly, battle was joined. Cory moved so quickly that Alan could barely see him strike at Kyle and Kyle dodge. From Alan's former position beside Kyle, his partner's maneuver had put Cory between the two of them. Ordinarily, in a fight, that would be a good tactic, but this was a little different. Regen required touch, and Alan didn't want his route to Kyle obscured. Besides, Cory was so infernally fast that he could easily escape from a pincer.

It was obvious to Alan that the main difficulty in this battle would be Cory's speed. He had fought fast fighters before, of course, back when he studied martial arts on Earth. The trick was to stay defensive, be patient, and look for an opening to end it with a single decisive strike.

No sense wasting much magic so early in the fight. Jehuti summoned, Alan gestured first up, than diagonally up and left, then up and right, et cetera, to make five points. At each point, a small fire appeared - just a humble Fire spell, to test Cory's reactions. The five fires spun outwards from Alan, toward Cory in a spiral pattern, attempting to surround and strike the pyromancer's foe. Meanwhile, Alan slowly circled around Cory's position, attempting to create a clear line between him and Kyle.

Alan said nothing, focused on the fight itself. Besides, he had nothing particularly witty to say at the moment.

[Cory .:. The Betting Table]

Cory grinned as Kyle and Alan attacked at the same time, unmoving as he let both attacks land... And pass through. The image of Cory gradually faded from sight like a cloud of smoke.

There was no warning as Cory fell from above, his arm radiating intensely with blue and black fire. He fell down upon Alan, striking with all his might in an attempt to take out the mage as soon as possible. Can't let him actually participate in this fight... His magic and elemental alignment make him too much of a hassle.

[Alan :: The Betting Table]

Geh! I should've used Clarity! It just seemed too dangerous with the sword, though . . . I can't fight blind.

See, this is exactly why you don't commit heavily to your first attack. If Alan had tried a more demanding spell, he wouldn't have been able to defend himself at all.

That being said, it wasn't exactly his most dignified defense to date. He caught movement coming rapidly from overhead, and dove out of the way into an awkward roll, landing gracelessly in an unbalanced kneeling position. He did dodge the attack at least somewhat. Cory's blade missed his head but struck at his shoulder, cutting a deep scarlet gash across Alan's left arm.

"Ani-ue! Hang in there!"

Alan made a strange noise, like a weird guttural hiss. If Cory was expecting him to handle pain poorly, he was about to be surprised. Alan forced the awareness of his cut into the back of his mind as he shifted his weight onto his rear foot and pulled himself up and back in the same motion.

He couldn't raise his left arm, but it could clutch Jehuti as he brought his right arm to a guard. No . . . , he had to remind himself, don't fall for the trap of becoming enraged. Don't . . . he isn't open right now. You need to focus on defense.

Alan stepped back into a practiced fighting stance, and touched his index finger to his wound, casting Regen. This would make things easier.

[Cory .:. The Betting Table]

He's healing himself, and I still have the element of surprise.
Cory darted towards Alan, the moment between Alan's dodge and the ronin's pursuit practically non-existent. No hesitation. No remorse. He has to go down now, or this battle will go on longer than need be. The engine on his sword roared as Cory's attack speed came into play, the arm and weapon held in it blurring with a speed faster than even most Replicas were capable of. Over and over he swung at Alan, not particularly concerned about whether or not the last hit connected and more worried about the speed and power of the next.

Finally after a torrent of swings, the Revblader stepped back from his foe. The engine on his sword purred loudly as he lunged forward with a thrust at Alan, using the gap he only just made to build momentum. "Engine Rush!"

{Kyle : The Betting Table}

God damn, there wasn't even a pause to that chase! I need to be much faster than this! I need to be able to defend Alan so he can attack! He said upon seeing Cory's attack.

Kyle quickly sent out an Earth Fang at Cory, who had just started his attack. Rushing after Cory, he got to him almost instantly and while Cory was sending out his own attacks, Kyle began sending a flurry of thrusts at his back, each capable of inflicting the Sap effect.

[Alan :: The Betting Table]

Alan's instincts, born of a decade of having people shoving fists in his face (although with less hostile intent), came into play. Before he could even be consciously aware of it, he saw in Cory the countenance of someone about to abandon defense for an all-out attack.

And that . . . is an opening!

With a wide-eyed countenance somewhere between reckless bravery and primordial fear, Alan shifted his weight further back, just one more step. A small sphere of fire appeared in his good hand. Then, he pounced forward, right into Cory's flurry. Alan brought his arm forward less like a punch than a lunge. As he did so, the small orb of fire expanded nearly thirty times, giving the appearance of a miniature sun. "Solar Firaga!", Alan shouted, making up an attack name off the top of his head. It seemed like something he was supposed to do.

Alan would take many more hits from the sword, but Cory would take a massive hit from the fireball pushing him back into Kyle unless he changed his tactic drastically. Either way, the aftermath of the attacks meeting would leave Alan only a little above the margin that the duel considered 'in the fight'.

But Regen was still active. Cory would have to finish him soon or that would change. The endless cut marks on Alan's chest already gave the appearance of beginning to dissolve into unmarred skin.

[Cory .:. The Betting Table]

The ronin smiled, his attention on the battle-field far more astute than he had let on with his berserk-like attack pattern. As the attacks closed in on the Ronin again, he vanished, bursting around to Alan's opposite side as he slid into a new stance.

He switched the Revblade to his left hand, revving it constantly and causing the blade itself to glow red with energy. Three Bursts. Three left. Beating Kyle alone would be a simple task, even without Burst Movement. But I need to conserve anyway. Cory flipped the Revblade into a reverse style as blue rose petals seemed to float around his right hand, a show that his Blue Rose technique was active and ready to fire. One more, and the rest is for Kyle. Cory brought back his right hand back and clenched it tightly into a fist. "Blue Rose!"

Cory thrust forward with the fist... vanishing from sight as he did so, and appearing again in Alan's blind spot with the straight jab aimed directly at the back of the pyromancer's head.

[Alan :: The Betting Table]

It became obvious to Alan that Cory had dodged him when Cory's sword didn't cut into his flesh. In order to avoid Solar Firaga, after all, he had to abandon his assault, since they would have connected simultaneously. Disregard earlier comments about how messed up Alan's chest got.

Stupid teleportation! Yeesh!
"Aww! You almost got him!"

Cory was targeting Alan. That was obvious. When Cory disappeared, then, Alan didn't hesitate to dodge the attack he knew had to be coming. The lingering Firaga became transparent and seemed to fade out of existence before contacting Kyle, but Alan continued forward, dodging past Kyle and leaving Cory striking at the air.

It looked like he had won a bit of reprieve. The wound to his shoulder had almost healed. Perhaps it was time to change tactics. . .

{James : Train : Sleeping Car}

James remained silent after explaining the lay out of the sleeping car to her, and waited for her to pick a room for herself. He followed her into it and set the metallic pieces of the solar surfer down as she explained to him what it was. He narrowed his eyes at all the pieces yet again, as if trying to visualize what it looked like.

"Ah I see, and I bet you Silver could help out, handy cyborg that he is." He replied with a slight chuckle, remembering the scene of Treasure Planet where Silver's arm became a needed tool at the right time.

He laughed as she claimed the top bunk of the room, placing a part of the sail on it to claim it.

"Fine by me, since this isn't my room. Yeah I guess we should head back." With that, he turned and left the car, figuring she would follow, "As for my story... I wandered the forest near Disney Castle for a day, I was nearly killed by Heartless when Riku showed up and with his help, made it to Disney Castle. After learning what had happened and a good night's sleep. Myself and a few others, my wife included, rode the train to Agrabah where we met with pretty much everyone else here and left. Our destination was Narnia, where we fought a giant army of these beings called Geists which steal your memories, that was being led by Ursala, all while finding and protecting Prince Cor and returning him to King Destin." He explained as he kept walking down the hallway slowly, making sure not to get out of her hearing range.

"After that, we departed from Narnia to Halloween Town, which we found to our surprise, had fused with Beast's Castle. Our objective was to help the Enchantress break the spell of Halloween Town, so it no longer effected Beast's Castle. The effects of Halloween Town, had turned Beast back into well Beast... It turned out Belle had been kidnapped, so we went into Halloween Town to save her. When we were about to save her we were attacked by evil replicas of ourselves only much stronger... and after rescuing Belle, we were forced to retreat after the beating they had given us. After a chance to rest, we were confronted by them yet again... and Oogie Boogie kidnapped the Enchantress right after she lifted the spell on Beast's Castle. We followed after them and ended up dealing with Oogie Boogie in a nasty maze of mirrors and electric wires, we finally managed to rescue the Enchantress, and after resting for the night we came here..." He concluded, just as they were about to re-enter the Lounge Car.

"Sorry, that was probably more information then you really needed. That's a summary of everything that we've done since I joined this group. If you have any questions just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them, alright?" He apologized for his long explanation.

He knew though that wasn't all, there were many any things that he hadn't mentioned. Not because they weren't important, but because he was sure her head was already going to be swimming after all he had told her.

{Kyle : The Betting Table}

Watching Cory disappear, Kyle shook his head in frustration. That damn ability! This would have been over then if he didn't have it!

Don't worry about that. He'll be coming around. Focus on the next attack.

And Midgardsormr proved himself right. Cory was coming around for the next attack, and, rather conveniently, right in front of him. He could have attacked him head on, but that would have been silly, what with him charging an attack. Kneeling down after Alan passed him, he slammed his hand against the earth and watched as a stone pillar shot out of the ground at the quickly oncoming Cory, hoping to stun him.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:32 pm

[Cory .:. The Betting Table]

Annoying.
Cory sidestepped the pillar and rushed in at Kyle, switching the Revblade back to his right hand. I'll just have to pick up the pace. As the ronin neared Kyle and Alan, he jumped high into the air, flipping over the two. A flurry of Engine Forces rained from above and down onto the two as Cory passed overhead, serving to at least distract the two as Cory touched down on the ground opposite of where he had jumped.

He turned and rushed in at their blindside, throwing more Engine Forces as he started formulating plans in his head. Indomitable Will covered the Revblade as Cory neared the two, swinging diagonally at whoever happened to be in his path.

[Kyla: Outside Red Rose: AngelGrove/Hawaii]

It was interesting being in the presence of the first team of heros that really got her playing on the schoolyard as a kid with the boys. Kyla remembered those days she'd argue about how it was perfectly fine for a girl to get to be Tommy. How Billy was the smartest and therefore, the most likely to survive if Rita would suddenly pull a REAL good plan to get rid of them. How there should have been at least one Girl Red ranger... aaah, those were the days.

So it would be, they were about to be teleported to the command center and good grief, she felt EXCITED. For a moment Kyla wondered if she teleported, would it be colored coded to her uniform? That sea-blue-ish-cyan color.
It felt a little better thinking about such mundane things like that, it distracted her away from her real problems. Besides, it was hard to feel worried in the presence of Tommy and Billy. Funny how childhood nostalgia worked on your nerves.
Now that Kichi had sent out the message there was nothing left to hold them back from leaving.

Alan. Kyle. At least Seymour and Axel were wiating back on Hooks ship.
