"They are," Lin murmured.
Much nicer than the bags she brought but they were purchased from the city and they were purchased in a large number so not a lot of thought probably went into them. With so many children sometimes buying in bulk helped.
"Some of them are even designed," Lin murmured, "And... some of them are soft."
She wouldn't have imagined soft actually supple but not soft like this. Then again it seemed like there was all kinds of leather here.

Leyenda reached out to touch the bags, and her eyes widened slightly in surprise. "They are," she breathed. "Incredibly soft ... softer than the clothes of Kelirahc's people, and that's saying something!"
Kelirahc blinked and looked down at his pants, then ran his finger over them. "I did not think they were anything special," he commented, puzzled.
Leyenda smiled at him. "Go over to Earendil, he'll show you what most leather is like." She shooed him off, and he went over to Earendil obediently, though his expression was still very confused.
Leyenda giggled and turned back to Lin. "I should get one for Kelirahc," she said, smiling mischievously. "He would never get one of his own. Not that he even has any money of his own, but he would argue that he doesn't have anything to put in it."
She ran her fingers over the bags, searching for one with a design that appealed to her. "He'll have things soon enough. He just has to get used to the idea of possessions."

"Well especially if you two do plan to travel before settling down, he is going to need a bag anyways," Lin replied softly.
Though she had to grin, she certainly understood what Leyenda meant by that, eventually Kelirahc would have possessions as well. Though he would just need time to adjust more.
"Hmm... it's tempting to get one."
A real good quality one and wait to get home for it to be runed.

Leyenda grinned. "And if he really doesn't want it, he can have mine and I'll use it," she winked. "Though I do need another one myself, mine is getting thin ... I use it too much. Of course," she added, "I could just ask Rhea to put a rune on it, like she did to her own, then I wouldn't have to worry about it so much."
She picked up a bag that had a bird on it, but she set it down again.
"One thing about the items here," she commented, "there are a lot of rocs ... this would be good for Haldia, but ..." She shrugged.
She didn't suppose there would be any dragons, though she wasn't going to give up looking.

Lin blinked and forgot that Rhea knew a bit about runes from her mother, that gift of hers. Well there was always that.... she thought absently. Though Leyenda was right, the roc theme was very common here.
"Out of all of the animals it is the most common to be seen, in fact I don't see a lot of other plant or animal imagines," Lin admitted.
And while Lin didn't mind the bird, she wasn't sure if that was the sort of thing she wanted on her bag. Though she just realized she had made up her mind on whether or not to get one.
"Then again rocs are very important to living here."

"They are," Leyenda murmured absently. "Alena said that without the rocs, their people would have died off quite quickly ..."
She looked through some more of the bags. There were some with trees, some with leaves, some with flowers, some with dragonflies, some with butterflies ...
"Pretty," she murmured, "but not quite what I'm looking for." She pursed her lips thoughtfully. "I wonder if I can get one custom made ..."

"Why not ask, after all we're going to be here for a while...." Lin replied eying the butterfly one.
All the while telling herself this little gift and later on fetish with butterflies was getting a bit out of control. Seriously she did not have a butterfly fetish no matter what sort of gift she has.

"I'll think about it," Leyenda nodded. "I can always come back, after all ..."
Still, if she could get the artist - whoever it was - to do a dragon design that looked like Kelirahc's dragon, she might actually get a pair of the bags, one for each of them ... though if she could get Rhea to rune it for her, then she would only need one ...

"Good thing we'll be here a while," Lin grinned.
She turned back at finally gave into the urge and picked up a butterfly and flower decorated bag. Really she was becoming like her mother, when she really thought about it wasn't a bad thing. Still, why was she so attracted to the annoying buggers?

Leyenda giggled. "As long as you don't buy something every single time you come to the city, you should be fine," she teased her. She smiled, though she was a little more serious all of a suddenly. "You really do like butterflies, don't you?" she asked softly. "I mean ... I know your gift, but ..."
Even her clothes were decorated with butterflies.

"Err...." Lin stared at the bag thoughtfully, "I have no clue how it happened. When I was little I had found them actually quite annoying."
Now it was all white noise to her, sometimes it was too quiet during the winter. If it weren't for Senka and the foxes and the people around her, she thought she might have gotten a bit lonely.

Leyenda laughed. "Well, it happens. It's like magic, isn't it? We don't know how it happens or where it comes from, but it does happen, and it's a part of our lives. A large part of our lives."
She smiled and ran one hand over one of the bags. "I would not be here if not for the suddenness and uncontrolability of magic."
If she had been able to choose her magic, would she have chosen breathing underwater? Possibly not, and if not then she would have drowned all those years ago. Sometimes the best things were the things that could not be controlled.
Not to mention the suddenness, unexpectedness, and unintendedness of her marriage. And that had turned out very well indeed. No, she was happy to leave things to fate, or chance, or whatever people wanted to call it.

Lin grinned at that, "That is true."
She looked thoughtfully at the bag this was probably one of the more girly things about her.
"I guess I just can't imagine being without them now," Lin murmured, "Even though with winter I only have them for a few months every year."
And the travel has made it very quiet as well.

"Look at the bright side," Leyenda pointed out. "On this island, the people are diurnal - whatever butterflies you see will have something to say to you."
That itself would be a large difference from Nauros, where the butterflies had been silent due to the nocturnal habits of the Night Elves.

She had to laugh at that, this was true for the first time in over two years she could get to listen to butterflies that weren't her pets.
"Good point, and as weird as it is I look forward to that."
She didn't know why it wasn't like she liked eavesdropping; in fact she tended to ignore most of what she heard.
