[sorry, always found present tense more interesting, makes things feel like they're happening and not ancient history...]

Hiru's short attention span stroke again as without even waiting for an answer he simply assumed the punch was poisoned since something else had caught his attention in the doorway.

"BATOSAI!", Hiru practically yelled from across the room. He ran straight to him and grabbed him by the shoulder "How've you been? I was afraid we'd lost you back there!", Hiru enthusiastically said.

Hiru dragged Batosai to the new kid. "Hey I'm Hiru! This is my best buddy Batosai! Who are you?", he asked.

((Hey everyone... nice to be here!))

Triskal awkwardly began his decent down the stairs. After sending his life in the great outdoors, such enclosures like this felt like cages to him. Not that he didn't enjoy the city. All the wonderful dumpling stalls and shops selling their wares, it was overwhelming.

His mother, on the other hand, seemed like she was even more overwhelmed. She was always mumbling to herself and reminding him not to look into stranger's eyes.

On the trip from their estate, she had been explaining how he would be taught jutsu and train under some of the greatest Shinobi in the Village! Imagine that!

All this excitement spurred Triskal on, and it wasn't long before he had forgotten about the strange tunnels all together. Soon, he semi-dramatically burst through a doorway, into people loitering all around it. Triskal tried to remember his manners, and shyly moved towards a table with punch on it.

It had been about a week since the festival, the day that Karake moved to Hidden mist. He had finally gotten settled in but still didn't know any students besides Batosai. It was finally the first day of the new term of the Academy, time for him to at last begin his training as a ninja. He walked into the Academy with an empty backpack, save for pencils and a notebook. He saw the single door and entered it. Down the gloomy stairs he went; first walking, then crouching, and finally crawling. He was beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic when he at last emerged into the cheerful classroom. "Whew! Bit of a tight squeeze there." He then began scanning the small crowd, trying to decide who to talk to first.

Triskal was glad that someone else had come, he hated getting people's attention. He turned to the person who had just come in.

"Yeah, it sure is." Triskal said boldly, which was odd for him. "So, when do we begin? Have you been here before?"

And there Hiru went. Why wasn't Andou surprised? He glanced at Batou, a wry smirk on his face. "Rei-san," he greeted her, nodding back. After months - no was it a year or even two now? Whatever. - of training her, he could safely say that she was the student he knew best out of all of those here. A few moments passed as he watched Hiru and Batosai go meet up with Hitomi, and he leaned back against the wall, waiting for the room to fill up. Batou had gone off somewhere to talk to some curious parents, so Andou just stood there sipping his nonpoisonous punch. He watched as two new students entered and found solace in each other, well not yet, but Andou supposed that they would soon enough.

Looking at the time, Andou decided to give this little happy party maybe half an hour more max. Time was short and he knew that most of the students, especially the ones returning, were itching for some proper instruction. But of course this thing was a little publicity thing that the Council and parents insisted be held every single term.

Karake looked in the direction of the questioning voice and found Triskal. He walked over to him at a quick pace and said "Sorry, I wouldn't know. This is my first time here." He then smiled, put out his hand for a handshake, and said "I'm Karake, by the way. And you?"

Some of Hitomi's nerves were settled a bit with Andou-sensei's greating. They had spent so much time together after she had approached him so long ago. She had asked for his help to become the ninja she was today, even if it was only a genin rank. For her it meant the world, and she felt as if she owed Andou-sensei all her dedication for going out of his way to teach her everything she knew. She let out a slow breath just as a very energetic boy came up to her, dragging someone along with him. As he introduced himself, Hitomi smiled wide and nodded to the boy, "It's a pleasure to meet you Hiru. My name is Rei Hitomi." She then turned to smile at the boy she had met just a few days ago. "Batosai."

Triskal felt like he could understand what this guy was going through. "Yeah, me too, I just moved here myself. I'm supposed to get an apartment or something, I dunno." Triskal said. "Its nice to meet you Karake, I'm Triskal."

"Nice to meet you, Triskal. After we are done here I'll be happy to help you find your apartment. Who knows, we might end up living pretty close to each other." Karake smiled at the idea. "So, where did you live before coming here?"

Kiketsu had made his journey to the academy later than he usually would. His mind was slightly lazy this morning. The festival of the night before had taken a lot out of him. Mostly because a busty scarlet eyed woman made sure that she was his chaperon for most of the night. Not to the boy’s approval either. The woman had made sure to treat him like a doll or an action figure until the wee hours of the morning. The snake like boy was just happy she did not decide to try and play dress up with his small frame. With a small yawn the boy entered the academy. He was never one for much talk or association with others so his frame stayed away from the others near a wall. Lime eyes scanned around the room taking notice of all the new students. How the times have changed since before the war. He thought the crab chucking girl would have been there, but it seems she did not survive the war. What his eyes did recognize was a certain blood eyed youth and another with tiger shark like features. There was no denying who that hyperactive fish was. “So he did survive…”.

"Hmm, I used to live out in the open, by the Mountains, in a cabin near the Island." Triskal smiled, "Where did you come from?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:43 pm

"Natsu Island. Its at the far south-eastern corner of Water Country. I live in Arashi Town, its kind of a big town, but fairly small compared to Hidden Mist. It actually used to be a Hidden Village a hundred years ago." He smiled a bit more at the memories of his rainy home. Most people would be depressed at the sight of such a waterlogged rainy island as Natsu Island. Arashi Town made it altogether different. The buildings and streets were lined with a rainbow of lights. People were quite lively and things were rarely dull. He then shook it off and asked "Are your parents ninjas?"

Triskal smiled. After all this time, he still really didn't know himself. It was something he had gotten used to over time.

"Well," he began slowly, "I know my parents make up part of a squad, though I'm not sure what kind, or even what they do for that matter. Actually, I'm new to this whole Shinobi thing myself. My parents decided to send me here just recently, and I only just started my own personal training." He stopped, and looked at his skinny frame of a boy, "I just hope I can get strong enough to help in times of need." Triskal admitted. He admired Karake's easy going spirit.

"Huh, interesting." Karake said, not entirely sure ho to react to that statement. Then he heard the part about training and mentioned "You know there is more to a ninja than just strength. Ninja can fulfill a variety of roles from front-line taijutsu users to rear-line ninjutsu users to genjutsu and medic support ninja. Not that I'm saying that those muscles of yours don't need a workout."

Triskal thought about that. "Yeah, I guess I could be one of those things too. Not that I actually know how to become one, although, I guess that's what we're here for!" Triskal slowly scanned the rest of the room. "So, what kinda ninja are you? Are you one of those magical illusion persons," Triskal said, waving his hands dramatically, "Or one of them front line fighters." This time he took a mock defensive stance. "Or are you one of those nurse Shinobi? With the healing and stuff?"
