Amy Plum Acutally, that's what I've been doing. Never actually put the ramen in the mug through, 'cause that means I'd have no place to drink my tea. Well so long as the mug hasn't exploded or anything...

Tangled Up In Blue Okay, here's what we're going to do... We're going to boil the water in the mug... No, wait... scratch that. Bad idea. If you have a coffee maker, try taking the filter out and just running the water through it straight. Gets it to about the right temperature quickly and without needing any dishes you don't already have available.

On the subject of comparative ramen, I've always been partial to the Asian kinds that come in a larger bowl. They're more expensive, but are still usually under a USD each, and they taste much better.
May or may not be better for you, but I've never been one to care overmuch about that.

Well, if I had a choice... ...BBQ spare ribs... ...yes, that's it, Any meal in the world, ribs with a nice smokey, thick BBQ sauce, some fresh coleslaw... How's about you, any meal in the world right now, what would it be?

Amy Plum Well, if I had a choice... ...BBQ spare ribs... ...yes, that's it, Any meal in the world, ribs with a nice smokey, thick BBQ sauce, some fresh coleslaw... How's about you, any meal in the world right now, what would it be? Sushi, no question. A big platter of nigiri, leaning on the more obscure fish and things that don't have a backbone, plus a few rolls, a bowl of miso soup, and a bottle of unfiltered sake to go with it. No uni, though. That stuff has the texture of rose-flavored phlegm. Edit - DYB worked as of yesterday, but the recent threads listing is still borked, so I can't easily access it. I think there's a link somewhere in the Kitchen Table but I can't remember where.

Since thinking about sushi invariably gets me thinking about sashimi, have you ever had squid sashimi? Worst. Texture. Ever.
