Stephen was caught off guard for a moment, but held on without much of a problem. He nodded solemnly even though Quinn couldn't see, acknowledging his statement. The man's hair blew through the wind as they ripped away, not sure exactly of the destination other than Katie and some others were there.

While in motion, he quietly pondered to himself over many things. He sort of felt embarrassed that he'd done what he'd done, Max would no doubt give him a hard time about it upon his return. But at the same time... he just couldn't leave without saying something. He trusted that man with everything. If something were to happen... well, he didn't want to think about it. But Karin trusted Max and Max was a good man. He could watch from a distance and yet be right next to you on the field of battle.

It was eerie. But it was comforting.

He took a deep breath and tried his best to clear his mind or change the subject. Maybe he'd think over that cryptic statement Max said earlier.

"Everything dies. We see to that."

Stephen wasn't the sharpest tool in the drawer, but he did know a fishy statement when he heard one.

Tea.

Maximos wondered in all sincerity how many times tea had saved him. Not just the magical sort Life Leaf, but the regular herbal sort. Just a few sips and the world slowly began to fall back into place like puzzle being shattered, but in reverse.

He turned away from the counter and then leaned back against it. An elbow propping him up, then he turned and gave Raven a bright smile. She was looking a bit more sturdy. But he would hold her to that conversation. And he hadnt hid or moved the note from her sight when she peered over.

Lucind had been quite silent. And considering her situation it was troublesome. Max closed his eyes, reaching to the communication enchantment and spoke. Silently again, lips moving with no sound.

Is everything alright there? Any luck with our new "frie--

He was cut short as a scream tore from the hallway and nearly caused him to drop his tea. A few rather curious steps brought him to the edge of the stairway looking upwards and down the hall. His right eye ignited in a faint glow, and he saw deep red swirling around swarmy blacks. That was fear. Inside that cloud were leylines reaching up from the ground to a scared earth attuned individual. Nothing no other such formations in any of the visible rooms, he made an assumption, and called out down the hall.

Damion? Is everything alright?

Damion spun in place at the sound of Maxi's voice, wide eyes locking onto the man he counted as friend. It was a releif in and of itself to realise that he wasn't a monster, that he wasn't back in his home village, and was infact fine for the most part. Afew deep breathes brought him somewhat under control, enough to answer," Y-yeah....bad dream...s'all...." He called back, taking a pause between words to make sure he had them right. Maybe it was best he didn't go back to sleep just yet...better to be in the company of friends.

Damion disappeared for asecond, returning to the claimed room and reclaiming his book before hurrying towards the light of the main bar area. " Sorry." was all the earth elemental could offer really, not much more than that in the end. His heartbeat was atleast normal again. Damion couldn't understand why he had been so afraid, but he had been and couldn't change that. Better now atleast.

Rae had been a moment behind Max, delayed by the fact that she was feeling far too comfortable in the bar and had stupidly let her guard down sweatdrop funny how that always happened when she was trying to sort things out in her mind xp

She slipped past Maxi as Damion responded that he was alright, giving her former teammate a comforting hug as he left the room again..."No worries, this sort of situation is liable to have nightmares running rampant all over the place...it is one of the main reasons why I sleep as rarely as I can get away with!" wink

Cecil Hawthorne

+1 mana over time at rest.

And a moment behind HER would be the mage, Cecil.

... unless she was wearing a miniskirt while running up the stairs. Then out of embarassment, he would be a number of moments behind her.

((Hey, you never know with you, Hono wink ))

"Nightmare, eh? I can actually help with that, somewhat. If you'd permit, sir." he would address the islander Damion.

If permission was granted, Cecil would raise his want, weaving it in practiced motions through the air matching invisible arcane symbols, while chanting quietly. After a few seconds, his spell would be cast:

Quote:
CALM EMOTIONS - This spell puts the target into a sense of tranquility, preventing them from taking any strenuous or violent action. Lasts for 4 minutes or until provoked/attacked.

Mana: 8/10

This could be resisted with a force of will if it was not desired, though thats why Cecil had asked permission first.

"It won't get rid of the nightmares, but it will ease your mind for a few minutes and allow you to recover, or easily return to sleep if that's your desire. But..... it's the extent of how I can help him."

He opened his mouth to speak once more, but decided against it, and would leave with the others when they did so.

If permission was not granted for the spell, then ignore the second half of the above post.

Groggily, a room to a second door would open as Damion would begin his descent back down toward the bar.

"Okay, what's all the yelling about? Can't a guy get some rest?" a voice called, and heavy footsteps, uneven from a slight limp, would near the top of the stairs.

A dishevelled mess from his white and blue hair down to his shoulders and sticking up every which way, and his clothes wrinkled from sleeping in them, Rain Yupa looked down at the bar, rubbing one side of his face with his palm. From his current perspective, he could see a woman he recognized from HoH, a teammate of the second person he recognized, Damion; a young man casting spells, and...

"... Maximos."

As long as Malice's pace didn't quicken, the Siren would just walk on. For now. And all the while, the low melody on her lips wouldn't ebb. Actually, the air arround her seemed to get a little blurry here and there, but only for a split second. It was to be assumed Malice noticed she was doing...something.

The message she sent back sounded rather casual.

Well, he claims to be immortal. He wants to know where the others went. Since I didn't tell he's tagging along like some undead, stubborn kid...or a puppet.

Oh and, I hope the helicopter can still fly with a pinky bone stuck in its front shield.

We're slowly walking towards the Firebrand. I suppose it can't be helped we have to do something. Meddling with his mind is no option - when I saw that guy in the forest, he was more a skeleton than anything else, means he very likely doesn't rely on a working brain I could influence. I'm not in the mood to directly go for his soul, bit exaggerated for now, plus, he's probably bugged.

I started thinking I should get a replacement for my eshaton and...ah, I'm rambling.

Anyway. If I can't present this guy something huge to eat like a wale or whatever once we arrive at the beach - he'd love to have the dragons or one of us - he might just go to pursue his original plan: getting Sun.

Really weird fellow, he is. But there must be something to him that Viktor and Ra'kar send him alone like this. Or they don't care.

So, we should arrive in around ten minutes...unless you have a better idea.

Still singing - and so still accumulating sound waves all around her -, Lucind walked in the direction of the tavern.

He'd also hear someone begin to snore, then start awake.

"...Huh?"

Yeah... he was about to snore so loudly that he woke himself up.

"Oh... we're still here..."

Lazenca rubbed his face. The hadn't left... this was good and bad. What if Teira was in trouble? But then again, they hadn't left HIM while he had fallen asleep, so that was nice. The powernap was nice too... it cleared his mind, and had him thinking better. Now, to see what all he'd missed with that...

Rae was peering at the groggy newcomer, using all of her restraint to keep from asking if he had anymore bugs in his head sweatdrop she was practicaly bouncing in place waiting for her turn to try and catch a bug since Hono had messed up that task earlier in the day...

Maximos stared blankly for a moment. He still had concern on his face, but something of an emptiness in his mind, like it was currently elsewhere or like something was distracting it.

And something was. A voice. Lucind's voice. She seemed to have quite alot to talk about and yet not much to say.

For instance, Maximos now knew she needed a new staff. And where she was headed, which he summized on his own by the increasing strength of the transmission. He also knew the mans mind could not be messed with...not that he was able to do so to begin with. And that the person, was wierd.

But.

He did not know who the name of the individual following her, which may be able to tell him what they were dealing with, if not from his own memory than by asking the denizens of the tavern. He did know why there was a pinky bone in the helicopter. He did not know if that would effect its flight. He did not know why the individual wanted a whale or a person to eat, though that seemed a most pertinent peace of information. Though Lucind seemed to have left out a good portion of the pertinent information. Maximos was left with...nothing, to strategise on. Nothing to expect. Nothing to plan for. Only that "something" was coming with her in 10 minutes.

The Shadow thought to inform her of this, but instead his only response was.

Yes. Well.

Followed by an automatic adjustment of his glasses. Needless to say, Rae, and Cecil had the time to speak first before Maximos chimed in.

Maybe its that.

He said, gesturing to the book Damion had gone back to retrieve.

In my youth, I've read things that have kept me up for several nights.

He reached out an open hand, and said with a small smile.

May I?

He would take the book of course, Maximos was no thief, he offered the hand so Damion could offer it freely, if he wished. If he did, Maximos would take it, and turn it about in his hands. He'd spent a good time with books, and had learned to tell quite a few things from their cover. Age. Origin. Even sometimes subject. If Damion kept it, Maximos would simply withdraw his hand. Either way, half way through whatever process he had begun, Rain's voice struck his ears.

"Okay, what's all the yelling about? Can't a guy get some rest?"

Of course Maximos wasnt surprised, Lucind mentioned Mr. Yupa earlier. And he had no misconceptions about the idea that the business between them was even almost finished. Or rather, that Rain was finished with it. Maximos had played his part. So, he simply looked up the stairs. His mismatched eyes, and foremost his white and faintly glowing right eye seeking to meet Rain's. And then he'd offer a grin. A grin soon followed by a small wave. And followed yet again, by nothing, as Maximos turned back to Damion.

Damion would graciously offer over the book, his mind at peace with the casting of Cecils spell, giving the man a head nod to go ahead with the spell. He supposed being exhausted and this whole business was getting to him, and affecting his brain. " It was good...but I don't remember seeing anything from my dream in it....Though there is something in there I wanna talk to you about." Maximos did magic, or something like that, from Damion's memory. He would have continued on, explained what he was going to talk about, until Rain spoke up.

" Old man?!" Where did he come from?! More to the point why was Damion so suprised?! Well let's just end that now, hmmm? that's better. With Maximos's examination of the book, he'd learn fairly fast that the cover was of old leather, older than it should have been. The words on the cover were some form of Elven, like an offshoot. The contents, well...he'd have to open it up to see that, and if he went that far he'd find himself on the same page Damion had last been on, the Dragon's staring up at him and the Draconic Shaman image seeming somehow more important.

Scarker hadn't been sleeping too heavily. He just needed a little rest to get his stamina back from using so much magic so intently today (gods only knew what he'd been up to before hitting the Firebrand), so the quiet snooze he'd taken had been enough.

With Rain getting up, he figured that it must be morning or something, so he got out of bed, threw his coat over his shoulder with his swords tied up in the sleeves. He gave brief consideration to those that were there and unconsciously locked the spell pattern Cecil had used away in his memory. Sliding out through the same door Rain had just come from (he did buy the room for two after all), he stretched a bit for show and turned to face Rain.

"Well, looks like you're feeling better. I believe we get food included in the cost of the room if you're hungry. I'm off to make use of that offer myself, I think."

With that, the mage half-bounces down the stairs, freshly cleaned hair waving behind him while the tapered steel slabs he calls swords slap against his back, not cutting into him only by the grace of the good leather of his coat.

Groaning, Rain rubbed his face with both hands, before turning to face the wizard Scarker. He stared at him for a moment, trying to place a face with a memory.

"You..." he addressed him, before pausing again. Why was everything so hazy? "I think you helped me, right? I think I recall... thank you very much." Rain would say, bowing slightly yet respectfully at the man, before watching him go.

The main question is, where was he right now? He looked around, and it seemed familiar, but where ever he was, how he got here was a bit cloudy.

He began his march down the stairs, not really addressing anyone else, but smiling and putting a hand on Damion's shoulder as he walked by, just briefly. He looked at the people gathered here, most of which he recognized, but... the location... was he in the...

"... Firebrand?"

He paused in the middle of the room, looking down at his hands. Feeling how his body felt. Why did it...

"!!" Suddenly, a flood of memories came back, first his body recalling what it endured, then his mind shortly thereafter. The battle in the Dead Forest. Bits and pieces came to him, but things still seemed unclear, jumbled together. Who won that battle?

That's when it hit him. He whirled around, staring at the people in the Tavern currently.

He would rush back up the stairs, and the sounds of several doors opening, before Rain would rush back down stairs.

The black-haired songstress Lucind.
The orange-haired soul reaper Ichigo.
The demonic warrior Kain.
The valiant warrior Kael.
The green-haired swordsman Rage.

... why was Rain the only one from that battle here?

Was... was he the only one who made it back?

And then something came to mind. The presence of one with a very particular supernatural job. One to guide the souls of the departed to their eternal rest.

Turning to Maximos, Rain's brow lowered. "Where are they? I can't possibly be the only survivor."

Malice would continue following Lucind, the only sound coming from him besides his footprints was a tightening on the grip of his blade.

Gradually, ever so gradually, be would begin quickening his pace just slightly, closing the distance between himself and the singing lady as they travelled. Every minute of travel would yield a few feet closer. Was it paranoia? Was it impatience? Was it hunger?

Otherwise, as they closed the distance to the Firebrand, he wouldn't make a sound.
