Elegant Egotism

To sum this up because it's getting a bit old.

The Imperium could have far superior technology if they want, but they don't want it to be tainted by Chaos. Less Imperium-friendly planets often use new designs. The problem is that if it doesn't pass a 2-century Stress Test the Imperium is afraid it can be tainted by Chaos.

They Imperium has teleporters, the only ones that are allowed to use them are the Grey Knights though.

You have a very cocky tone and condescending tone for humans. Even the lowest Guardsman may be as intelligent as his Colonel, the only difference is that he was born on a hive-world to a lower class family and thus would have a difficult time advancing. Think of it as the world today. Are all say, Chinese people stupid? I guess they are because of you're arrogant attitude. All they aspire to is work in factories and nothing else.

Orks also don't have an effective way of showing knowledge other than just seeing something. They don't want to share what they know because by doing so they would possibly put the competition ahead of them. While you could argue humans are like this as well, there are centers of learning and people on the ground in the Imperium who will tell you the best way to do something.

I don't believe Orks really have their own R&D to the level that you describe it. The most common situation is a) A Mechanic finds something interesting b) The Mechanic recalls a previous experience where he saw something interesting c) The Mechanics attempts to recreate that. Orks haven't really created anything new. They utilize internal combustion engines manufactured by the Imperium, ballistic weapons from the Imperium, and I'll go out and assume their helicopters are from the Imperium as well. The Teleporting technology of the Eldar (Or humans, I'm not sure where they originally got the idea from), I guess would be their most significant advancement.

It's not that I'm so pro-Imperium. The Dark Eldar are my favorite race. But the Orks have had the most contact with the Imperium and in greatest numbers. Thus, that is where they derrive much of their technology. The Eldar and Tau are too few and far in between, the Necrons phase out, the Tyranids and Chaos offer no technology, and the squats [Removed by Games Workshops Group PLC, Copyright 2008].

If they really wanted to be creative, GW should have just gave you five sprues with a bunch of different combination for a bunch of different looking wagons. You could make a simple one like they had before, a complex one like they have now, or anything in between.

Though the old "wagon" that wasn't a GW product (armorcast I think) was just an epic vehicle in 2nd ed scale, but like said why complain, most (or all real ork players) convert their own battle wagons or buy something else and make a wagon, plasticard and tracks makes wonders I must say~<3

Plan A fer mah Battlewagon! Drawing on the picture Ein-style really helped me figure out what to do with what I have. I'll worry about paint when the whole thing's together.

What it also needs is plates and rivets! And of course orky glyphs~ Either make your own, order some from FW or GW online store.

The concept looks dead 'ard, the only negative thing I can think of with this way of building is the placing of the killkannon, since it's placed in the back you lose some of the range, since you measure range from the pipe, line of sight from the hull.

Also you can throw in both weapons in the same sponson on both sides, having a rokkit/big shoota sponson instead of 2 sepparate, that's what I did on my battlewagon with 4 big shootas~ Or 2 rokkits on one side and 2 big shootas on the other, could save ya some work unless you wanna have 2 sponsons on the sides.

Something awesome you could add it a banna' pole in the back of the wagon, and show your enemy the mark of your WAAAGH! or just show 'em who's da boss. wink

I have created an abomination! Too bad the camera's battery doesn't charge via USB... crying

My first time working with Plasticard is with .080" (not sure what it is in metric), which is pretty thick stuff. I intend to get some L-shaped rods to put on the edges, then drill holes in those, insert a rod and saw the rivets off. The sponsons I came out with turned out more like balconies, which I intend to put some Boyz with Gunz on.

Also, I guess moving the Killkannon up would be a good idea, seeing as the regular Kannon probably has longer range.

That BW is comin along nicely. Although I must say that a deffrolla would be better than the ram for a chassis of that shape. Nothing like unloading da boys and then flattening half of what they are there ta fight. Just my two cents. I dig the sponsons all over it, that's a rockin plan. Don' forget to load up on spikey bits And heads, lotsa skulls, cadian, and SM heads. that and the odd shoota or stikkbomb astray along the hull. Gork 'n Mork are in the details.

Just got my rhino in the mail, now I'm gonna go ape-s**t and make into a proppa looted wagon. Wish I had a camera.

I pretty much built it up without the side doors or top doors, and rigged up a skorcha with an old heavy flamer bit, half of the SM searchlight mount, a bit of wire, a few orky armor bits, and the tanks from the Landspeeder's multimelta. I gotta bulk it up with plasticard, and find a way to rig up these two guardsmen bazookas for the two rokkits I'm given it.
I think I'll either model the top doors open, or just built an armored wall around the hatch.

Oh man, you guys. I love hardware superstores. Why pay fifty bucks for a Battlewagon when you could build your own, completely unique one for less than twenty?

Just picked up a couple little pipe-thingies for like $1.25 and made me a Kannon and Lobba. Now I just need to find a Lascannon from a Razorback and turn it into a Zzap Gun.

I'm gonna guess... new Warbuggies, Wartrakks, Warboss, Deffkoptaz and Flash Gitz? Big Gunz, Killa Kanz and Deff Dreads would be nice too.

I'm pretty certain about the Wartrakks, as they already have a couple CAD pics on the tubes. I just wish they were closer to actual vehicles than Marine Attack Bikes, because that's what I've always thought they look like.

What I am allowed to say is: No, it's not any of those... Wait and see when the new year begins. >:3

Prolly the stompa, I know Mac has been going stupid over that one. rolleyes
PostPosted: Wed Nov 19, 2008 2:22 pm

A plastic stompa would be awesome, but yet maybe not, if all stompas looked the same it wouldn't be fun at all since that's sort of what GW do now... Which might be the problem with the comming battle wagon... D':

Hence why I decided to make my own Battlewagon. Guaranteed to be perfectly unique!

Now, what could it possibly be? I think we've already listed everything in the codex except Meganobz (which would be neat), Kommandoz (which would be neater), and Looted Wagonz (which would be... somewhere between awesome and pointless).
