MiyokoxClarinetti nooo copland didn't....I don't think liszt did either...or tchaikovsky.... DD: eeks i'm stupid =_= kill me kill me now DD: Hmm maybe it might work, you can talk to the other people trying out too? :/; It sounds pretty though ^_^ mm...honor orchestras and stuff like that are usually gonna look for technique and musicality, so if it has all that then I think it'd be alright... You're not stupid; I only know this because I'm doing a book report on his biography. I should be considered the stupid one; I don't know the other two composer's names you mentioned. He(my BD) posted the list of who made it for tri-county orchestra today. (He said we would have to try out, so I'm like what the crap.) There was about 6 people who made it, and I'm pretty sure the only other girl who made it was this horrible flute player that I don't like (horrible as in personality, she plays flute pretty well) so I'm probably gonna be stuck with the same host family as her, unless the family has two spare bedrooms and I can get one of the guys instead. And I'm not making her stay in band, I'm telling her that I'm gonna cry my heart out without her and I'll be all alone on our 5 day beach trip.I think the trip might make her stay. Oh, my friend Shinraa asked me to advertise her art shop for her, so I'll post the link and vouch that she is an amazing artist. (It's at the top of my profile, check it out.) Updated: And in my sig

awee <3 congrats nevira!!!! ^_^ I'm proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
flaming- ahhh :O; copland's musc is pretty smile . ^_^ no your not stupid, my tenor sax friend rushed up to my friend and I after school asking me to help him with theory [it was on minors] I felt so stupid because I didn't know >_<;
ew DD: that sucks well if theres something bad coming try pulling something positive [somehow] out of it?
XD bad things happened to my friend and I when I wanted to her to stay in band, I found out the only reason she wanted to go to NY was to have fun and be a selfish adkgljdlfjfa >_>; ::sighs:: yeah enough about that biggrin
my clarinet has a leak, the first time ever, I must say...ITS TRAUMATIZING! ;_; I know all my scales like that [okay I used to know all of them, NOT ALL 48 like that...now only 10...] and while we were practicing seven of our major scales I couldn't play my B and had to use the other fingering [I use the B key on the right, just one key, its so much easier] and I ended up playing C's and c sharps and I would stop, trying to figure out how to get around [its hard to slide your fingers especially in E major] and mr. a is just staring at me fingers and I'm doing it all wrong. scream gonk
DD: theres like 120 clarinets trying out for all southern, it may not seem like alot but it can still be rather competitive...>__<; the flutes have it worst, they have like what? 170 people trying out o.O
::dies::

And actually for the B you only have to use one key on the left side too. Many people put down that key and the C key on the other side, even though they don't have to. Maybe if I room with her I'll find out she isn't such an [insert impolite name here] after all. And how can it not seem like a lot?!? I think our whole band + auxilary barely reaches that amount! My clarinet leaks. mostly out the thumb-hole and the little key on the bottom part (not sure what it's used for, you would use your third finger to press it). And sometimes the bell. But leaking is unusual on my clarinet. And don't force yourself to be some musical prodogy who knows everything. We love you (and so should you) just the way you are.

mm yeah but its hard for my hand to stretch there.. sweatdrop my hands are utterly small and my pinky's are deformed [in some odd way o_O] so I found the other B the easiest :Sweat:
Yeah biggrin ; who knows XD but if she is...you can just make her life miserable in some way that won't make you feel bad? o.O
sweatdrop I don't know, I guess it was the fact that I'm used to hugeeee stuff? O____O; i mean coming from a band with 200 people...makes things small... sweatdrop gonk
how long does it take to fix a leak anyways?
gonk I know I shouldn't be stressing too much on it, but I just hate it when people come to me for help thinking I know everything gonk >_<;

Every instrument has its little quirks. That's what makes them fit to your style. (Dare I even say, the relationship between instrument and instrumentalist is similar to the relationship between dogs and their owners-the instrument becomes like you and vice versa?!) For my clarinet, it's the B key on the left side. Every six months or so (usually with the shift from marching to contest season and vice versa) it needs to go in the shop for a new spring. And no, it's not because I have a death grip on my instrument! I fixed that in seventh grade. 3nodding
Anyone have something you absolutely loathe about other clarinet players? For me, it's the sound when people suck their spit out of the instrument. Not the action, just the sound. I'm not sure why I hate it; I hear it and I start writhing in agony. confused

hmmm what I loathe about other clarinetist? mm...their cruddyness in tonguing [atleast at my school...] or the fact they don't try adding any musicality, I just hate it when I have to sit there listening to them @_@; either that or its the horrible blowing away on thei instrument....

What I loathe about other clarinetists...probably the same things as the rest of the band members. Like never practicing, lack of ability to follow simple instructions, especially when they are given like 5 times, purposely damaging an instrument, lack of proper instrument care (such as mold growing all through the clarinet burning_eyes ), people who get music lessons but never improve any, even the slightest amount, and the rest of the things I would hate about regular people, such as girls popping out of their shirts (AKA S.O.S. music video burning_eyes ), people who cheat on their boyfriend/girlfriend, backstabbers, and people who break really important promises. And some other stuff, of course.

Random factoid I'm sure you guys will love to hear
After marching in a 3 mile parade in the rain, I got a wart on my thumb from holding my clarinet
That was in June and it just went away
So let that serve as a warning... or something pirate
