 Except even Aizen has to breath. Aurelius could literally close all of their windpipes, but I'm trying not to godmod here... And Aizen sucks d**k. Say what you like, I don't care, I hate that guy. And no, the city was not destroyed, the explosion was contained inside the barrier that doesn't stretch much further than the outside perimeters of St Peter's Square, which is accentuated by that round building in the picture.

Aizen had Hogyoku skills and Aurelius has mad erasing existence (Shakugan no Shana style) skills.

I've been thinking, it'll probably be the most epic illusion Aizen has ever created if all the events after the Soul Society Arc, were all just an illusion. And in reality they were all still at the Sougyouku Hill, looking at Aizen and co, exit via Gillian Negacion.
