And Earendil added in a few comments here and there, explaining about the Marks and how they were such a huge part of the culture, not just as marks of marriage but also for everyday life, and some interesting tidbits about his mapping and the island ...

Elros was just fascinated by all of it. He kept asking questions here and there, though for the most part he just listened: and especially when they started to talk about Amon Darthir he began to ask more questions, mostly about Alena and things concerning her.

Earendil was sort of half watching Miyuki while they were talking, and when she tried to stand on her own, he held his hands down to that she could pull herself up more easily. It was more reflex than anything, since he was actually quite engrossed in the conversation.

Earendil was still paying more attention to the conversation than to Miyuki, and when she pouted at him he didn't notice, but simply kept his hands down where she could reach them if she came over to him.

He was keen on hearing Lin's opinion of the town, and to see if she would mention anything about the fact that many of the shops had been run by women, and at times even children. At the time he himself had just assumed that that was just the way things were; but now that he knew better, there were other signs that things hadn't been quite right there.

Earendil added something about the lack of men in the city in general. He heard Miyuki thump her tail, but instead of looking at her he just extended his arms the slightest bit further. Yes, it had struck him that it seemed odd that there hadn't been any adult males in the city at all, but he had assumed it had something to do with the war, and not simple tyranny.

It was only when Earendil felt Miyuki grab his fingers that he looked at her, and when he did, he blinked with surprise to see her standing. He hadn't felt her pull on his hands to stand up ...

"How did you get here?" he asked her, bewildered. He picked her up and set her on his knee. "Did you walk to me?"

Earendil chuckled as Miyuki started to suck on his fingers - again. Well, there was no harm in that, was there? She was probably tired, it was very late, after all, far later than they had ever gone to bed at the ranch.

"Perhaps she's telling us that it's time to turn in for the night," he smiled at Lin and Elros. "Maybe we could continue this conversation tomorrow?"

Elros smiled and nodded, rising to his feet. "I enjoyed our conversation," he said warmly. "I look forward to continuing it. Good night to the both of you."

He bowed his head and headed once more for the door.

"She seems to be full of all sorts of energy," Earendil smiled, standing up and holding Miyuki in his arms. "But she's remarkably well behaved."

He chuckled softly. "Though we really should be getting to bed. Tomorrow is another day, after all."

He wondered how they were going to find their rooms - but just before he asked Lin, Amora stepped into the room. She had changed out of her day clothes and was wearing evening clothes, a dress with longer sleeves and a shawl around her shoulders. Her husband was with her, and they smiled at the visitors.

"I would imagine you would like to rest," Amora smiled at them. "Come, this way."

She motioned for them to follow and headed down the hall.
