Sayrike::Train

"Oh, no, I don't want to inconvenience you..." Sayrike began to protest, but it was too late. She once again felt a little guilty about having others help her out, but James and Dawn were too good hearted, it seemed. "I apologize for this. I'm guess I'm getting into trouble already! Are you sure you guys wanna keep me around for that?" she smiled politely as she stood up. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the last bits of the solar surfer leaned up against the wall. Oh, so that's where Dawn left them. "Err...how about I take what you have, and could I ask you to get those last pieces against the wall over there? I think Dawn left them there after she came in." Sayrike turned slightly and motioned with her head in the direction of the metal parts. "Thanks a lot for the offer and helping me out! Hopefully this will take just a minute." She stood slightly to the side of the door, leaving James to lead the way into the next car. Sayrike felt that it would be too forward of her to just barge from one car to another, much like when a friend just starts walking around your house without invitation and looking into your fridge for a snack. No, it would be better to wait for him.

[Alan :: Halloween Town -> Dark Margin]

Alan's scowl became obvious as the Heartless approached. This was really starting to get on his nerves. Sighing wordlessly, and at least somewhat glad that the interruption had eclipsed the earlier tension, Alan ran through the corridor after Cory.

All of this running through paths of Cory's making was impressing on Alan how much he had placed himself in Cory's power by consenting to talk - especially once he saw where he emerged. Unless Jon's group suddenly were to bust through with guns blazing (Alan wasn't sure how he'd feel about this possibility), Cory was pretty much his only ticket out of here - especially as he had given up his communication device.

Still, he didn't regret it. The conversation with Cory had proved fruitful, regardless of what path the future was to take. He now felt that he understood the nature of Cory's relationship with the Earthlings, and he had a fresh lead - Hades.

And, the tantalizing suggestion that Death was meaningless in this world.

Alan would return to that last thought later. For now, he was focused on the situation in front of him.

~~~
Alan's face softened as he stepped out of the corridor. "The Heartless follow you? That sounds like a pain. How do you sleep?"
Then, Kyle responded. "Well, there you go." Alan was painfully cognizant of the fact that all three standing here had different philosophies about this. It was his job, he thought, to mitigate those differences . . . to find common ground. Fortunately, there was at least some. "We're all committed, for . . . different reasons to this world. No matter how this ends, you have that assurance, at least, Cory. If it comes to that, I, at least, will fight beside you unequivocally."
Alan crossed his arms and began pacing again. It was time for him to make a decision. "But, y'know, there's a lot going on with the other group. Seyomour, for one thing. He at least thinks they're worth keeping an eye on, and I think it's worth keeping an eye on him." Alan smirked a little. "Plus, I get the feeling that they're about to be delivered a giant bucket of exposition. I want to be there when that happens." Yes . . . pragmatism. The tactical course of action. That was why he wanted to go back. It certainly wasn't his guilt over how Jon would feel.
It certainly wasn't the fact that the others would hate him otherwise.
It certainly wasn't that he was afraid of the Darkness.
Alan held up a hand, as if to answer Cory before he began. "I know that's probably unacceptable to you. I certainly don't expect you to deliver me back to them freely. So . . . how about a wager? If I win, you return me (and Kyle, if he wants) to that group and agree to a one hour armistice. . . enough time for us to return without you attacking all of a sudden. Otherwise, " he paused, "I'll agree to follow and serve you for a period of no less than one day."
Alan's eyes were positively glittering. The earlier bitterness had completely dropped off Alan's demeanor. Adrenaline was coursing through his body at the mere promise of strife, revealing a somewhat unexpected quality: his love of battle.
"And, y'know," Alan grinned, "I really want to fight you."
"Are you sure about this, Ani-ue?" The blaze was nervous. Alan could almost feel her panicked wing-beats in his heart.
"Don't worry! All we have to do is win."
{Kyle : Dark Margin}
Listening to Alan, he could say he was shocked. He hadn't been expecting the sudden desire to fight. Or maybe he should have been expecting it, if he had been paying attention to Alan. Had he missed signs that Alan wanted to fight Cory? Or had he just hid them well?
Well, it didn't really matter at that point. Alan wanted to fight and Kyle doubted that Cory would deny him. Still, something bothered him. "Ya know, I appreciate what you're doing Alan. Really. But I don't want to just be a term to the agreement. I will fight for my choices. So I'll be participating in this little battle too." He said as he stood up and walked past Alan and Cory, going to stand along the shores again.
He could feel the soft waves lapping at his shoes, feel them get wet, but then instantly dry off. He wondered what it would be like to swim in this strange sea, a sea of darkness. A sea that promised power. A sea that promised to, if you just indulged in it's power, make all your dreams come true.
Kyle, if you choose to use the Darkness, then I'll be right there to help you. But now isn't the time to be focusing on that. You just declared that you would take part in the battle. You need to focus.
Yeah . . . .
Turning his back to the sea, a strangely painful act, he summoned his katars, getting into a defensive stance. Granted, if Cory didn't desire to fight, he would return them. But he didn't think that would happen.
[John.:Angel Grove:.Outside the Red Rose]
A small gesture, but one that seemed to go very far. John brightened with Amy's comment and looked to her for support. He then remembered that it was not only Amy of whom he shared a bond with, but with Alan and the local Kyle fella as well.
"Alright then, I'll be right back dear ho-hoooooooooo..." John said as he bounded away from Amy superhero style.
In his search to find Alan and Kyle, John slowly began to realize that they were no where to be found... at least not in the current proximity. The sake bond that they shared would not be soon forgotten. Therefore, he tirelessly searched high and low outside the Red Rose for the two little shamramblers.
[Alan :: Dark Margin]
Alan glanced over at Kyle. "Of course. Sorry, I didn't mean it that way - you can do what you want. Is two on one really okay, though? It seems a bit unbalanced. But then," he faced Cory again, "He does have the Power of Darkness going for him. Maybe it's fair." Alan wasn't taking into account Cory's weakness to fire, which he didn't technically know about.
It was pretty clear that Alan wanted to fight Cory alone - to test his strength as much as anything. Bu~t, he didn't have the right to supersede Kyle. Plus, refusing an ally would be really stupid. Maybe he and Cory could duel later, just apropos of nothing. . .
{James : Train : Lounge Car -> Dining Car}
"It's no inconvenience at all, I'm happy to help out." James replied with a smile as he handed her the pieces that were in his arms and he made his way over to where she said the last pieces were. Again, he looked at them curiously, trying to figure out just what they were for. The corsair couldn't help but chuckle somewhat as he picked them up, with all of her apologizing, she was reminding him of Dawn.
"You're not getting into any trouble, better we stick together then fall apart don't you agree?" He asked her as he headed into the Dining Car to lead the way to the sleeping car.
When she entered behind him he turned to look at her and then looked back around the room.
"As Kyle said, this is the Dining Car."
He worked the freight crew back at his job, for him hauling heavy objects by hand was just part of the job, so this was no real big deal to him at all.
Sayrike::Train: biggrin ining Car
Sayrike heard the man give a slight laugh as he picked up the metal bits. A part of her began going on a mental runaway train: Oh no, did I do something funny? Did I make a weird noise? Is there some kind of inside joke going on? They're not planning on doing something to us, are they?
Stop this. You're fine. Worry about this later. Just keep doing what you're doing.
Above all, Sayrike valued politeness, although it usually resulted in a lot of deferential talk and apologizing. (I was born in the wrong culture.) Maybe James was laughing at that? It drove her mom insane when she did it around her.
Mom...
The absence of her parents and everyone else hadn't really hit Sayrike. She had stayed away from them for a lot longer than 6 days before. Nothing felt really different. Well, besides the whole fantasy adventure thing. Still, she wasn't one to mourn things like this. There was no evidence to say that everyone had died, and even if they had, Sayrike knew that, if she never saw them again for the rest of her life, she would probably only cry twice or thrice about them. She trusted that, wherever they were at, they were happy and living their life (or death) as they wanted. And so, she would be happy too--happy for them, but most of all happy for herself.
You can't live your life for the sake of others. In the end, you can only make yourself happy.
She didn't think this out of selfishness. For her, it was truth; it was up to the individual whether to be ultimately happy or sad when life threw something their way. And with this thought, Sayrike stopped the worrying thoughts and turned herself back to her conversation with James, giving him her own tinkling peal. "Haha, well, you haven't been around me long enough to see the trouble I can get myself into!" As they walked into the Dining Car, Sayrike pivoted her head back and forth as she looked around, again marveling at the impossible size of it. Yep, like the TARDIS. "Wow, it looks very nice in here. Where do you get your food from anyway? Do you take turns cooking and doing the dishes?" If Sayrike was going to be a passenger on this train, she had to know more about the daily ins and outs of their micro-society.
[Tommy .:. Angel Grove .:. Coast]
Tommy nodded as Billy chimed in above everyone else, notifying them that Alpha would essentially take care of everything. "If that's all squared away, let Alpha know we're ready whenever he is." He was, of course, worried about Alan and Kyle, but they had made their decisions on their own. That aside, Tommy had to think of the general population before he could think about two people specifically. It wouldn't be right to jeopardize the entire city because they had to wait on two people. "We'll just have to trust those two to be able to take care of themselves."
[Cory .:. Dark Margin]
Cory grinned at the two. He couldn't help it, really. Here they were, on the precipice of the Realm of Darkness, getting all fired up for a fight. The ronin got up from his rock, summoned the Revblade and thrusting it into the ground before him. His smile seemed to be one of an all-knowing deity, watching as mortals make a mistake without realizing it. Like he was better than them.
"You guys sure are thick."
Indomitable Will burst out around Cory as he cracked his knuckles, the ring of blue and black fire circling them. "Getting all fired up this close to the Realm of Darkness is just plain old stupid. Surely you've noticed it? The pull darkness has on your hearts? You've used 3 corridors and spent a few minutes in on the Dark Margin, all within a relatively short amount of time. Darkness has already found your hearts, and you've yet to fully comprehend it." As the ring completed itself around the trio the threat of Darkness was pushed away, isolating the three inside the Bet's Barrier.
"That's the tricky thing about Darkness. You don't realize when it has sunk its teeth into you. Only those who have confronted their inner darkness are gifted with the ability to sense and resist those dark urges. Those such as Riku... And myself. Darkness has no sway over my heart, I'm just as messed up now as I was when I first awoke in the Underworld. On the contrary, I feel as though I have a better grip on my emotions." The Revblade vanished from its spot in a burst of blue and black fire before reappearing in Cory's right hand, again accompanied by the Will. He rested the weapon on his shoulder before adding, "Darkness is not a source of power. It is a tool. Draw your power from your own heart and use Darkness where applicable- That is how one is meant to use it."
The barrier around the three shot up to the sky as Cory stated, "The wager is as follows; Under the condition that I am unable to continue battle, both Alan and Kyle shall be returned to the rest of their group and be allowed a one hour armistice. Should both Alan and Kyle become unable to continue battle, however, they shall both join the Flock for no less than one day. The conditions of the 'Betting Table' will not allow Drive forms or Limit Breaks. Once your health has deteriorated below 5%, you will be deemed unfit for battle and lose consciousness automatically. The chosen terrain is a simple field with ankle-high grass." Cory grinned before adding, "These are the conditions of Maximum Bet. Do you accept?"
[Alan :: Dark Margin]
Alan pursed his lips. Cory's statement made sense, but Alan couldn't help but feel like he was deluding himself about how much of a pull Darkness had on his heart. The idea of confronting his inner Darkness, however, had promise, but did one really need to draw on Darkness as power to do it?
Alan didn't like being spoken down to. He had to interject. "But . . . Riku lost his ability to open corridors at the end of KH2, which is to say once he had it under control. He 'didn't belong to the darkness anymore'. Can you really use Darkness as a tool without falling into it? And doesn't Darkness exist in all hearts? Why would it need to find them? What is Darkness, anyway? Just negative emotions?"
Alan shook his head. This can wait. Let's get the fight over with.
"Well, whatever. If I lose, you can explain later. If I win, I can ask Riku. I accept your conditions."
{James : Train : Dining Car -> Sleeping Car}
James couldn't help but laugh lightly as she told him that she had a knack for getting into trouble. They were all very susceptible to trouble in this universe. He assumed by now that she had been brought up to speed at least in regards as to where they were, so she would probably know of some of the dangers they would face. Not even the corsair knew all that they would have to contend with though.
"You're not the first one we've had to work with who gets into trouble, believe me, I would also be very surprised if you were the last. As for the food... it comes from the cabinets and the fridges and it never seems to run out. This place is an interesting mix of magic and technology, just think of a food and open the appropriate location and it'll be there, it's really cool actually. As for cooking and the dishes, Captain Silver does a really good job with both tasks." He replied, turning his attention back to the path to the Sleeping Car.
[Nick :: Outside of Red Rose > Tortuga]
As the group left the shadowflamed guy who Nick hadn't really given half a damn to figure out who he was, the blonde decided to run off from the main group while they blathered on about how cool or evil he was. Nick, you are a pretty crappy spy. the boy lamented to himself. He had been avoiding most of the group as it was, and now he's basically running off to do what, exactly? He wasn't sure. But right now, he needed to think. He needed to get away and plan out his next move. But he wasn't going to do it here, no way. Not with all the damn goody two-shoes around ready to bother him and ask why he was brooding.
Making sure he was out of eyesight of the group, the Lanista opened a Corridor to Darkness and stared into the empty void for a long moment. It was frightening, opening this doorway that could end up leaving him in the middle of nowhere. Nick didn't have time to self doubt. He closed his eyes, took two steps forward, and was gone from Angel Grove.
He appeared in a dark alley, the hustle and bustle of the city as lively as ever. He was back, alright. Back in the pirate city of Tortuga, the land that the black cloaked woman had found him in. The woman who had taken him in and granted him power. This city had given the Lanista new life, and he wasn't about to waste it. As his clothes changed back into his more darker persona, a low gutteral sound echoed within his mind. He couldn't help but notice a mysterious feeling burning within the back of his head.
Chaos, what is that feeling? It's really anno-
Hush, boy. I think I sense...her.
Her? Who is he-
It -is- her! ULTIMAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Nick fell to his knees writhing in agony, Chaos' fury raging throughout his entire body. He began bellowing, and one of his eyes changed from a delicate blue to a wrathful green, the white of his eye now pitch black.
"ULTIMAAAAAAAAAA!!" Nick screamed again, releasing powerful wind blasts all around him. Glass began to shatter as windows were busted in, lanterns falling from their perch and spilling their oil all over the ground. Chaos was taking over the boy, and all Nick could do was go along for the ride. A dark and sickly aura eminated from his body, a presence that would be noticibly felt by the Disney Train inhabitants.
Sayrike::Train: biggrin ining Car-->Sleeping Car
It really was a fantasy world, and for a moment Sayrike felt like she was Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole (to use a well-worn simile) and into a land of nonsensical and fanciful wonder. Although, if this is a Kingdom Hearts world, Alice is actually around here somewhere. Food that never runs out? Someone who cooks and does the dishes? "Goodness...don't tell me that someone cleans the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the lounging area, and the stable! Or, better yet, it does it magically by itself!" Sayrike exclaimed. As a child who had to do all of these chores (minus the stable) starting from middle school, this was definitely the life of luxury. She hadn't had it this good since living on the college campus! These were truly privileged people.
As the passed into the Sleeping Car, Sayrike began to put two and two together. She had to ask, "So...when you say Captain Silver, do you mean Captain Long John Silver? As in, the Treasure Planet version, or the really old Disney movie live action version?" If this man was the former, then she'd have a good chance of getting help putting the solar surfer back together. It was a matter of paying back a favor, of sorts. Sayrike felt horrible that she had broken the machine that had carried her so far. She had to fix it so that it could be whole again.
[I have no idea what the Sleeping Car looks like, so did you want to describe it, James? Or should I just ask Kyle? Note: I will delete this comment after a few days.]
Jacob ║ Port Royal ║ Lounge Car
Wonderful. Lounge, Dining, Sleeping, Training, and Stables.
Just as Jacob had stared to ease his mind and relax, a loud clattering of metal scraps made him bolt upright. Through the dark tinted goggles, he saw Sayrike fumbling and drop all of her solar surfer. Normally, he'd be right there in a flash, but just as he stared to get up James was already picking up pieces. He and Sayrike started to walk and talk as they left the train car. "Cool. Final question from me, I guess...Do you guys have any food or water on this magic train? I'm starving." Jacob groped for the dress sphere in his pocket but it had vanished into thin air. Odd.
{James : Train : Sleeping Car}
James made sure to give Sayrike enough room behind him to enter into the car so she could see all that there was to it. Though there really wasn't all that much to see. Just the doors and the curtains that covered the windows that looked into the rooms.
"I don't know if anyone really cleans those areas... I wouldn't be surprised if they were cleaned magically though. As for Silver, yeah it's the Treasure Planet one. Anyway, here is the Sleeping Car, there are bathrooms for both genders on both ends of the car, as well as rooms that can hold two people on both sides. Just pick a room I guess." He said as he looked down the hall, he didn't know which rooms were taken except for his and Noelle's.
"I guess just pick a room... by the way what is this thing?" He asked, referring to the pieces of metal that they had hauled half way through the train.
{Kyle : Dark Margin}
While he could indeed tell that Alan wanted to fight Cory alone, he wasn't going to let that happen when he had been made a term in the agreement. They could fight on their own time, in a battle without consequences. Then they could beat the crap out of each other as much as they wanted. However, when Kyle was involved, it wasn't going to happen. Besides, if they lost, then Alan would have plenty of time to fight Cory himself.
And then Cory began to talk. Spilling more information, although he might not have realized it as such. At some point in the past, he'd confronted his inner darkness. But when? He'd left out that part of the story. And there weren't many blank spots in that story. So it just came down to filling it in. And he could do that later.
"Well, I suppose that those terms are acceptable. So, Alan, Cory, shall we begin?" He asked, not yet moving to attack or defend. After all, how would they get to the chosen terrain? Another dark portal? Or something else? Well, wherever it was, he pretty much had an advantage. Unless they were fighting high up in the sky, he could use the earth to his advantage.
