It was really really good. It stuck to the story well and in some ways made it better. I think it would have been better had I not read the books just because I knew what was going to happen but it was still good.

Just saw the Hunger Games, and I thought the cast was really well chosen. And I agree, it did stick to the story well, and even when it didn't, I thought the scenes were all good choices on the movie's part. It was kind of cool being able to see things outside of Katniss' perspective.
But what pissed me off more than anything was just about the first third of the movie when the camera was pretty much constantly shaking throughout, and nothing intense was happening. It was giving me a headache, and I kept sighing in relief for the short moments of stability. The shaking made more sense in the Arena, and I didn't notice it as much then, but the whole beginning really did not need all that.

Yeah the shaking kinda bothered me too but I'm sure it was put in there for a reason. Maybe to make it seems more realistic or something.
I'm glad they toned down the whole romance part.

:/ Its "artistic-ness" definitely felt overdone.
Me too. I'm glad they didn't try to make it another Twilight.

In some places it was really good like when Rue died but I think it just wouldn't have been as good if the movie didn't have the shakiness.
I also kinda wish the fight scenes weren't so quick, even if it would have gotten an R rating for violence.

I completely agree with you about that. The arena certainly merited it.
I guess they were trying to make it more accessible to a broader audience.
But I did think Thrush's scene was kind of anti-climatic compared to the book, and that was a little disappointing.

Yeah, I had hoped Thresh was going to seem more like he was going to kill Katniss before he goes off.

I knew I'd seen Peeta before somewhere, and it turns out he was in Bridge to Terabithia!

Mhm, and Journey to the Center of the Earth (if you've seen that). I actually watched The Kids Are Alright just because he was in it.

I didn't see Journey to the Center of the Earth, but I think I recall a trailer with Vanessa Hudgens?
He has the most honest-looking face I've ever seen. Very Peeta.
On the other hand, Gale/Gail? did not look at all how I imagined.

You probably saw the trailer for the sequel, Journey 2.
Yeah, I've heard Josh Hutcherson was a lot like his character.
How so? In my opinion he could have been more hunter-like but he was alright.

I guess I expected Gale to look more brooding, more "world-weary," I guess.

I guess that makes sense for Gale's character. Maybe he'll be more like than in the 2nd movie. I can't really saying much without there being spoilers.
