"We shall." Io replied, grinning at him. Then she headed for the temple ruins, taking the stairs slowly. "Be careful. These stones are crumbling..." She stopped then, looking up at the domed area where the doors still stood, barely hanging from their hinges.
"When I was a kid... I trained and trained just to be able to budge these doors. I even had the palace guards just stand there, watching me. They were supposed to open them, you know."
Then she reached up, touching the doors gently. "And now..."

Trivii Cinderfae Sani looked out at the water again, uncertain. 'I'll try, if its too deep, I'll just come back up.' Looking up at Kasai, 'If your there I shouldn't drown.' Setting her bucket down Sani pulled her hair back and began to loosely braid it like Trivii had the day before. A little nervous but not allowing it to show, she knew Kasai wouldn't let her drown. 'I think we can get the lillies after the weed... do you think Mycroft could figure out the best way for us to do this?
Let me check with Mycroft about how to transfer the plants. Pulling the remote he had put in his pocket earlier he started typing things into it.

Sani nodded, studdying the placid water, starting to control her breething, no reason to be nervous.. She tied off her seafoam braid with a rubber band from arround her wrist. Then self consciously Sani started looking for the seeming shollowest place the lillies were growing trying to map how she would get to them. Looking back at Kasai she knew he was starting to get uneasy, 'Its alright, I think there's a patch only about ten feet from the shore by where Galilee and Zahar were teaching me to fish. I should be safer there right? We can take that boat you pointed out.'

Kataio F Zahar shivered, it felt like someone was calling for her but she couldn't quite hear. 'Of course I may show you.' Her eyes were bright and happy. Zahar sipped her tea to the end this time. 'Everyone should know where it is just in case. I believe that they should make a sign. Kataio seems to be good with wood working.'
She listened to the light breeze for a moment before talking about her sister. Zahar took in a deep breath. 'Io is my sister. Everytime I met her she seemed to look at me as if I were a curse. I understand now, but I really wish things had not have turn out the way they did.' She paused and her eyes when a bit dull and saddened. 'We used to have a bit of fun when we were kids. Of course we took seperate specialties. It made us a bit more distant, but she was still there for me if I needed and I was with her if she needed me. We knew that we had different strengths.' Zahar smiled into Kenshi's eyes. 'I messed up and caused some big trouble in our past life and I think she remembers. One of the few I know who remembers that. I really doubt Io will forgive me.'
So, Io was her sister? That was news to him, although he hadn't really spent much time around the others, so probably everything one told him would be something he didn't know. He felt very, very small and alone for a moment then, left out of the loop, so to speak. It was his own doing of course, he was the one that avoided this place and was uneasy in someone's presence, but it still brought upon a dull ache deep inside him. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his wings opening a little and then closing, but didn't say anything about it. He would have preferred to be doing something other than simply talking; talking was nice, but he had never been one for lengthy conversations. Though Zahar's words left him curious, so perhaps it was more endurable than he first thought.
I did not know that Io is your sister, He said softly, a small frown etched behind the black and white masque. But... these masques, are they really a curse as I have heard? True, we cannot talk, but we can communicate with each other and we can still eat and drink. We are still alive, and we are able to function almost exactly as we would without them. I suppose most do not see them this way though. I tend to look for the flaws in things, but these masques are not as flawed as some might wish to believe. Or perhaps I am not seeing something that the others do.
He shrugged his small shoulders slowly, turning his azure eyes up to Zahar's, I am sorry that things done in the past must now come between you and your sister. I must ask though, we are all going to regain our past memories sometime, correct?

Sighing lightly Zahar nodded. 'Yes, most of us regain our memories. Not all but fragments of them. My ex-fiancee, for example, he did not regain his memories of the past.' She shook her head and looked into Kenshi's eyes again. 'I do not know how or why certain masks are effected differently. Io, Kasai, and myself were closest to the point of original cursing. Io and I regained our memories, but Kasai... he does not remember a thing.' Pausing she took a breath. 'I am almost happy he did not.'
Taking a moment to think about how to explain how the masks were a curse, she began to nibble on a day old muffin that Kataio and Aricin had left. 'The masks do not really effect us too much now. It gives us a chance to almost start over. It decreases our powers though, and unfortunately a lot of masks were lost with time. Broken by the elements, rades, and errosion of the buildings they were in.' She ran her fingers over the table absently. 'In by cursing us I have made it so some have lost family, friends, lovers, and memories.' Zahar held up her hands and waved them about indicating the masks around. 'We are the lucky few. Maybe we can find more in the ruins. I tried to go out there last night but only caused more trouble.'
Taking a deep breath she half laughed. 'I am sorry if this is not quite a pleasent chat. I just recently regained my memories and I have had a lot of this on my mind. I have only told one other mask about what happened, and I guess I just felt like telling someone else.' She knew that Kenshi had asked about this, but she was taught to entertain guests not frighten them.

Nika was careful as they walked up the crumbing stairs. There were so many memories here. It was kind of difficult to take in. He knew but he couldn't properly remember that once, he had walked through these doors on a daily basis, but then, the doors had been in perfect condition and the stairs hadn't been falling apart.
He listened quietly to Io and Shiva, and then reached out and gently, as if he they were as precious as glass, tried to pull one of the doors open. Alright, so he was being a bit too gentle. Nika sighed and put a bit more effort into opening the door. It budged and swung open, creaking as it went.

Birds inside the room went flying, flapping loudly and sending a wave of dust through the room. Io coughed, covering her face. "First time I've actually missed the mask." She said, stepping in. Light came down in small patches through the ceiling, so she looked up, sighing at the large holes in the roof. There was even a tree growing inside the building, brushing the high domed roof with its limbs.
A shaft of light hit the throne, throwing its fallen status into stark relief. Tangled vines held it, and one leg was broken, leaving it tilting slightly. The padding covering it was faded, light and rain taking their toll over the years. The room taunted her, as if shouting "Behold, King Time, your throne."

*Time has run rampant...* Shiva noted softly *with no king at it's head, it rages and conquers indiscriminately those rich and poor.* She let her fingers run along the tree's surface. *Has it truly been this long we slept?*

The dust merely caused Nika to blink a few times, as the mask didn't protect his eyes. When the dust cleared his eyes romaed around the old room. It was enchanting. Enchanting in the same way an old and once treasured storybook is found hidden in the basement, with ripped, stained and weather-worn pages.
There was a tree? Nika's eyes widened and he tilted his head backwards and stared upwards. Oh Lord. What were they going to do with that? Of course, they were going to clean this place up and return it to its original state, eventually. Right?
He blinked again when he saw the thone. His throne. It was kind of hard to imagine him sitting there, straight-backed and proper. A lump formed in his throat and he quickly swallowed it.
He nodded when Shiva spoke and cleared his own throat, 'How long has it been?'

"I'm not sure." Io replied, almost helplessly. "But this tree could tell us... if we chopped it down." She sighed, wondering how many birds and animals called the tree home.
"Even if we recover... even if we all remember..." She asked softly. "Will we want to return to what we were?"

A horrible thought...destroying this tree. *It should stay.* she replied softly *Always this strong, always this powerful. Destroying it to satisfy our need for trivia is base. It was a long time, for it to grow this proud. I guess that is really all the answer we need. It has been a long time.* she rubbed her hand again against the tree and sighed. *Such was my own question. These our OUR memories...to have and keep. They were taken against our will, I imagine, though I do not know...and for that reason alone we have rights to them. But I worry too what the added knowledge could do.* She looked at Io steadily. *It does not appear that knowing has eased you much.*

Kasai nodded and grabbed the boat edge of the boat by the shoreline pulling it toward them. Ladies first, he says smiling. For the lillies we just have to keep them in the water and they should be alright. For the plants on the bottom of the lake we will need to put some gravel and stuff in the bucket. When we transplant them we need to put the gravel and stuff in with them so they can stay anchored and have time to grow into the bottom of the pond. Kasai took one of the buckets and added some stones to it with sand and gravel like Mycroft's information had said to. Then he placed the bucket for the lillies in the boat and got in once Sani was ready.

Sani nodded and would have blushed at the gallant gesture, though fortunately her mask hid her embarassment and slipping in ahead of Kasai, she replayed the instructions silently to herself. 'So I just have to find the root mass.... that shouldn't be too difficult.' Straightening her skirt she crossed her ankles, then in a slightly unsure way, 'Which should we get first?' deferring the decission to the fire masque.

Kasai looked at the lake a moment and then at the boat, We should probably wade out to get the ones in the shallows first. So when you go after the lillies we will be able to get you dried off and not have to mess with the water anymore. With that said Kasai unlaced his boots and slipped them off, so we don't need the boat yet, sorry about that. Stepping into the water Kasai let his fear rise a moment before gathering it under control. He had been in water before but again it seemed like this huge expanse of lake would suck him in, as an after thought he tossed Mycroft on one of the towels on the shore - Cin would kill him if he messed up Mycrofts circuits.
