Ok Nick, I'm going to rant abit in this post since I consider myself fairly knowledge in Final Fantasy VIII, I'll try to put up a fight about this issue since I consider Gunblades to be legal weapons, I don't know why people seem to ban the damn things.
No gunblade wielding characters? Why? Although it is clear that only Seifer and Squall use gunblades in battle during the course of the game that does not mean in a RP that others should be banned from using the weapon, it just ain't fair man. And as for the only characters using a Gunblade, what about Laguna? The Laguna Vs. Dragon mini-fight thingy showed that Squall and Seifer where not the only people with Gunblades and what he says leads people to believe that others would happen to know the weapon and actually used it, that would mean others could use the gunblade for there characters. Gunblades are not some mythical weapon that only a select group can wield, nuh-uh, if that where so Laguna would never have known what a Gunblade was when he was told to use it.

Graey_Kaminari_Shinobi True, Croix, but! but! For the moment, we'd do better to curb the number of gunblades, unless you'd like every other person who see this guild to try and post with one. Thats what profiles are for, weed out the stupid Gunblade users and bring in the good ones. Should we get abunch of stupid Gunblade users here we just nicely tell them that there skills with a Gunblade must be perfect and if they where to use the Gunblade as there weapon that it may ... impair there character. In other words, if they suck with a Gunblade they ain't joining, sample RP is a godsent.

Yes, Croix, if you'd read the edit to the char sheet, you'd see Nick put in the line "unless approved" or something like that. It's basically meant to keep there from being thirty-five gunblade users at Balamb Garden when obviously there are only two people there capable of using it. Unless Squall decides to start teaching Rinoa how to use one.
New kids can come in and start LEARNING how to use a gunblade, but they can't automatically know. There's a lot more to using a gunblade than picking it up and swinging it. Did you read Gunblade Saga? Somewhere in there, it talked about all the training Squall had to go through to wield his Revolver properly.

I'm not against having a small rule added for Gunblade using characters however I just wanted to let that all out, I've been playing through Final Fantasy VIII and had to address the fact that Gunblades where not some mythical weapon only two or three people can wield. Yes this was more of a rant then a discussion, but still ^^; Croix runs off to lunch.

Graey and Chris explained it exactly. In FF8, It makes it more or less clear that Squall and Seifer are the only gunblade users in Balamb. Thusly, No one else is a gunblade user. No one. As Chris said, one can be Learning it, but there won't be any new ones. NO ONE minus Seifer and Squall and Draven should be considered apt enough to be a Gunblade user.. And yes, they ARE a weapon that only a select few can use. Laguna used one in a MOVIE SHOOT. Not a real one, a MOVIE ONE. Think of it like Jedi with Lightsabers. Anyone can pick up a Lightsaber and swing it around, but anyone but a jedi who's mastered it, is likely to chop their own head off. And to be totally blunt, no matter how much you rant ot try to argue, I'm not going to change the ruling unless Chris and I discuss it and agree to. ^^
