(( hey I think I have a pep band game to go to tomorrow so I wont be able to reply but Ill be on this weekend. I have a mock trial meeting Sat but that wont get in my way. ))

Marienara smiled, Li's reaction was actually pretty mellow all things considered. Many mortals who have the opportunity to see a sidhe stare at them in wonder for a while. Li was able to speak. She was glad.

Marienara laughed at the question, not condescendingly, but thouroughly amused.
"No, see, fae is what we are. My duchy is called Two Moons. I don't consider myself to be its owner, I'm more like it's caretaker. We do have a queen, and it is definitely not me. Frankly, I'm relieved. I tried to avoid getting any rank for as long as I could. It meant I had to move around a lot because wherever I went they tried to give me some. I stayed here to long and ended up as the Duchess. Heh, that'll show me to stay in one place eh? I'm stuck here now."

"It is nice here, I agree, but it is also a lot of work. As duchess, people are always scrutinizing me. When the last duke left this duchy, he went to go join the queen's court. There was a competition held to see who would be the next duke or duchess. It was not a completely open competition, there were requirements that had to be met. There were six participants."By this time, Marienara had led them into the concert hall. "Just between us, I didn't really want to participate, but I felt like I had no choice. You see, one of the participants was a childling knocker who had a tendency to take things a little too personal, one was a redcap who tended to make rash desicions, one was a troll who was a little too honor bound as she could not take advantage of situations when it was nessisary, one was a count who had a tendancy to let people take advantage of his kindness, and the last was an emotional countess who was pregnant and had a temper. You can see the dellima that we were facing. I am pretty sure I would have one the contest anyway, but unfortunately, all the other participants screwed up pretty bad while it was going on and got themselves disqualified. That is why some people refer to me as the default duchess, they think I got my title just because I was the only one who didn't mess up. Kinda sad really, and don't even get me started on how stuck up most of the nobility I have to deal with is. It gives me headaches."

"Before, I could just wander around from place to place as I chose to. I only had to deal with people I liked, and if I didn't like any of the people around, I just left and went somewhere else. I didn't have too much stuff, because I was always wandering, and I was fine with that. There were always plenty of freeholds to stay in so I didn't have to worry about where to stay either. Things were definitely simpler then. I had already done the whole be in charge bit and I was content to stay a simple Lady, one rank above squire. Unfortunately, my past seems to have caught up with me. I can't get away from leadership no matter how hard I try."

((well I think now is a good time to move to stage one of my plan >.> Im just going to leave Li with you so Jaye can be by herself. But dont do anything to him!!!! ))
"SHOOT!" Jaye looked down. "I LEFT MY PURSE AT THE CAFE!"

"I just got a payday! All my money is in it! This months bills!" she walked toward the door. "Just stay here. Ill be right back."
Li let out a sign as she left. He felt so bad that her and her sister had to pull there money together just to get though but she wouldnt have it any other way...
