La Belle Isolde LadiSilverfox So far I think my boyfriends parents spent more on me than my real parents normally do... heart
But they do what they can, my parents are by no means well off. It was nice to feel a little spoiled today though.
They got me a hot shot (almost instant hot water dispenser for single cups) and a 50 dollar gift card to Kohl's so I can buy some new clothing (hooray!).
I won't find out what my brother and parents got me until tomorrow. But all I asked for was money for rocks and anime. mrgreen I'll do you one better, my EX's parents got me more than my real parents did. Lin, I know almost EXACTLY how you feel then.
We never have really had much. And now, the family got larger...my dad is engaged to a lovely woman. But she has two girls and one of them is married. I have my daughter...and an older brother.
Mom is a lung cancer survivor with only one lung (the smaller of the two)...so she can't work. Any stress at all and she falls ill fast and ends up in the hospital. Dad just got a new job a couple months ago after suffering a heart attack, which caused his old job to lay him off.
...so...I don't want you to think it is because they don't care. If they had the money they would buy us the world... sweatdrop

Oh its the same here. Its moreso the embarrasment I felt that they spent over 200 dollars on me for christmas. Like... 0_o... why? I was so embarrassed. They make so much more money, I felt ashamed to open that in front of my parents.

Sentama Lin Bass20XX The best bit is that it has Windows CE 5.0 on it, I just can't get to it.
Google doesn't bring up anything relevant, so I can't find a guide on how to bypass the navigation software and go straight to OS.

*potters off to C&T* Christmas Bass is Christmassy! biggrin Are you even capable of getting to the OS? And what can you do with Windows CE? I'd assume that there's not too much commercial software you can install. But then again I'm not too familiar with Windows CE. For all I know there's probably a great embedded hacking community. I get brief flashes of the operating system, that I discovered by accident, But I don't get any real access.
I've got it hooked up to my PC, and I can see all of the Windows CE files, I just can't get it to ignore the Navigation software. I've sent an email to the guys that developed it, hopefully they'll take pity on me and tell me how to do it.

Bass20XX I get brief flashes of the operating system, that I discovered by accident, But I don't get any real access.
I've got it hooked up to my PC, and I can see all of the Windows CE files, I just can't get it to ignore the Navigation software. I've sent an email to the guys that developed it, hopefully they'll take pity on me and tell me how to do it.
xd Christmas Bass is Christmassy! biggrin Hrmm... Do you know if the operating system is ROM? I'm not well-versed in embedded OSes like WinCE, but it might be on ROM and that would make it somewhat hard to fiddle with.

But my boyfriend's family is just...out there. I wouldn't call them rich, but they are definitely upper middle class with a hand full of really successful people. Both he and his brother got college graduation presents from their aunt. His brother got a 2000+ dollar laptop and he hasn't "cashed in" his gift yet.
On one hand I am really happy for him that he has people in his life that can do that kind of stuff for him. But on the other hand it makes me burn with anger and jealousy. Which I know isn't right...he can't help the family he was born in. I know his family has their problems (actually pretty similar to mine own) but there are just little things like his house was never once without food, or the fact he has well off family members that are willing to drop 2-3K at the drop of a hat for him... stare It just makes me really mad.
I get the same feeling when I read some of the things other people got for the holidays in that present thread...
