Well, they're definitely not going for the true ending in DS2 since they've started killing people already. It doesn't seem to follow the game's route either. And I've a hunch that we're actually watching an NG+.

Maybe...having Byakko to start out certainly gives it that feeling, but at the same time, I think they just gave him a stronger power to start to show why Yamato sees his potential as being superior to the others' the way he does at the start. Making it a bit more clear than it was in the game.
But yeah, definitely not true ending...my guess is they're going Daisuke's ending. Otherwise, it's hard to justify what they've been doing to Daisuke so far...he's utterly useless. Which is sad, cause I like him. But if he ends up leading the MC's final day route...that would be an interesting turn.

True, true. The way they did it would make it easier to determine who the MC was to people not familiar with the series. But, when he beat Dubhe, you can see the amount of maccas he has is way more than any starting player should.
Yeah, that would be an interesting twist. He's pretty useless so far, his demons are weak as hell, which is disappointing. I hope that they don't kill Jungo though, oh god no.
Also, my theory is that if this is a new game +, they'll release an OVA like P4A's Factor of Hope showing a new game ++ and he'll get the perfect ending there.

And Hells to the no, they better not kill Jungo! That's a deal-breaker for me...kill Jungo, and I'm officially cashing out on this series.

They kill Jungo or Yamato, and I'm done with the series. Those two are my favorite characters.

It is. Maybe he inherited a demon fortune? Or maybe there was a huge reward for the first battle he fought. We don't know the answers to these things...
