"No, I was emergancy draft. But, I have solved those puzzles before. They are very interesting to say in the least." Fin wondered about the halls, feeling information. He held up a hand and tried to use a light spell, but it didn't work. Worth trying each day. " Trial and Error."

"Both of you quit bickering. lets get abck home, get everything situated, and be prepared for the next disaster or Piper's return. is that really too much to ask right now?"
A slight shake of his head.
"Alright. we're leaving now. if you need us, you know how to ocntact us. preferably try a less invasive method. lke a zephyr note or something similar."

"Well there's no use in speculating, let's just see what we can get done here...personally I think a lever would make it all too easy so physical force movement sounds best to me. I suppose we should...just try to line everything up. Or it all makes one giant scroll like mural that gives us an answer." If she wasn't so worried about the potienial for flammable gases and such in these types of places she would of sacrificed an arrow to turn it into a torch. "Just try to line up grooves...I can see everything clearly so it shouldn't be too hard to make sure things are set right once we have it moved a little. Onto work then."
Sevilin shrugged. "I stopped bickering, he has to keep having the last word. But I agree...I'd rather be back at the fortress than sitting in the open, let alone on a horse." Which he still hated by the way and thus gave a tug on reins to turn him and a kick to get him going. "We still have plenty to do back at the fortress to keep us occupied."

Leaf started to fiddle with one pillar, spinning the block that seemed about chest high took a good bit of force, as the gears were long caked with dirt. She pushed hard, the gears creaked and screamed. She was able to move it about an inch before she had to step back and try again. The more she turned it, the looser it got.
"It looks like there are several places it can be lines up. Perhaps there is a corrisponding pillar?"

Fin twisted the blocks until they matched the symbols. He felt each side. It was very much like a block puzzle. "I hope we don't have to do this to all the pillars." He could tell it was a large room, and he guess that there would be alot of pillars. Why on earth would the ritual be easy to complete? It would have been finished by now it was.
He thought back to the Etheral Temple and shuttered. "Leaf, let's make a promise never to talk about the Etheral Temple."
Aschellaeon stopped and looked back at the gas. "I know that the top soil is corrupted for about fifty meters, that suggests that the ground water would be poisoned too. I don't think you should use water striaght from your wells anymore."

Piper was working on her own pillar...though had hurt herself already, not that it was visible. Usually she pushes with her left shoulder...which was a bad idea. So he was a little behind in her solving having to switch up to get things going. Oh that injury wasn't going to be happy later. But back to lining things up...which was very very easy when you could see things. "I sincerely hope you're right about that...this room is far too big." Taking a look at what lined up patterns made...yeah that was little help right now. A look over to Leaf. "That's an idea...should see if we can find identical columns...and that we don't trigger something that will, crush us or something. "Anyone want to take a guess and what we're making on these things anyway?" Come on, there had to be more to this...it had to be read a certain way or something...there was always a catch.

Leaf coughed. "That temple never happened. I have no idea what your talking about." She blushed deeply, the first expression of any emotion she had shown since she met Piper. Thank goodness it was so dark.
After fiddling some more with the pillar with what seemed reckless abandon, Leaf had made it pretty far down the hall. The pillars she had lined up glowed faintly, and the carvings looked to be in the form of letters when seen from this distance.
"Piper, that pillar to the left of you is wrong. Bring it a few inches to the left."
She squented. "The carvings spell soemtihng out in perspective. But I can't read it with the minimal light."

"We can make a makeshitf torch from some cloth, wine and any straight object." His empty scabbard would do that trick. "Tinder..." He stuck a light for them.
The raidance of the touch was soft enough to illuminate the entire area. What they saw then was truly unexpected. It was like it was taken from some alternate reality and placed in that temple.

Apparently they were traumatized by some temple or something, right. Then again a lot of things in the underdark did that. But a look over to leaf before going about correcting the little mistake and stepping back as well. "Leave it to someone to make a whole chamber a message.
That too, that was why she forwent that idea...Piper had to throw her arm over her eyes and shade them, squinting slightly as well. It was a small amount of light but her ability was horribly sensitive, especially when it sought out any light to use. "Ow...okay so what does it say then while I'm momentarily blind?"

It was freaking kreepy. Above them was a wlakway fo sorts, but lights (that they couldn't see) were set up everywere with long trailing snakes attached to them. Large white u,brellas and sisks seemed to be reflecting that light down into the chamber, but again they could not see it before. Large....Leaf didn't know how to describe the,. They were like boxes, someone was sticking his eye o one end of it, and pointing the other end of it around at the chamber. There were all kinds of people wearing odd clothes. Those weird, unmoving black snakes were everywhere, epople were shouting, and someone kept yelling 'cut! cut! cut!'
Then, someone shouted "marker!" and a man clack a checkered borad, and everyone got quite again. There was a strange buzz in the air,
"It um....it says....um..." yes, shocked.

The small community of Riverscross was located in the ruins of the former kingdom Gartia. This desolite place was once a thriving kingdom, until the drow legions marched upon it. Gartia was never prepaired to fight such armies, and was quickly overwhelmed.
This site was the prefect place for renegade drow to hide. Secluded, cute off from the rest of the world, and already destroyed by the Drow who would want to do them harm.
Riverscross extended across the docks, and into the old barracks (what was considered a barracks by the Gartians). It was a community of houseless rogues numbering 87 total. They were all former legionaries, and fought countles times for their homeland, but during the times of trouble since the fall of Dominia, they found themselves without houses, and against Lloth and her minions. They settled here mostly by accident. Most of the rogues were gathered in the heart of Triel Spire before setting out for some romote location to bury themselves. It was a hard life, but for the last five months they had sucessfully managed to create a new life. A new village, a new life, a new god.
The demon-drow sneared at the sight. A hapless village full of infidels. They would bring him great honour and prestige. He gathered together his mana, and chanted his spell, but nothing happened. He merely shrugged. It was common for Drow villages to errect strong anti-magic barriers around them to protect them from the numerous dangers that lurked in the dark.
He would do this the slow way. He more or less, walked right up to the sentries, who were stunned by his presence. They always suspected that someone would come after them (thus the sentries), but they never knew that one of his calibre would find this to be a suitable hobby.
They were ******** and they knew it.
Without too much time to think, one alerted the whole village to the intrusion. The other, charged him blindly.
The legionary was a prime example of the prowess gained from serving Dominia. He could spare with the best knights and swordsmen, but stood little chance of victory here and now. All his hard trained skills were but childs play to the man he fought. The soldier knew it too. The battle was quick. Three parries from the man, then the legionary was dead. His body torn assunder by the force of the hit. The second legionary sentry had finished raising the alarm by then, witness the horriffic strike.
No magic, pure force. The blood splatter across his face, and he stared in fear at what beheld him. His sword arm could not move, his feet were frozen where they were. This legionary fought against the beast masters of Tarathia, and stood toe to toe with one of the most fearsome creatures that inhabits the underdark. He did not hesitate a moment then, but now he knew fear. He knew the horror. Then, he knew death.
One by one, each of the Infidels fell to this man's onslaught. The weakest of the lot simply frooze when they looked upon his horride form. The strongest tried to fight him, only to cause more fear for the weaker. The blood that stained this man's armour glistened in the lights from the cooking fires. His piercing red eyes were the source of many hideous tales, his grim expression was a measure of the most vivid nightmares.
While he walked, the sound of his grieves bombarded the minds of the heritic drow. They could never imagine a fate worse that what beheld them now...
Some of the villagers attempted to flee, they ran into the crevices and hoped abord their makeship boats. This did not stop his relentless assault upon them. He tracked them all down, no matter how far they tried to flee, and he ran them through with his sword. It must have been three days since he first gazed upon the infidels when he killed he last one of the 87. He would have done it sooner if they ran in larger groups, or stayed to fight him.
For the soldiers, victory was not an option. They had the worst luck any heritic drow could have. They crossed paths with a psychotic warmonger who sought the appriaciation of his god.

Which ment Malik and his forces simply vanished, arriving back at the Twilight Lands...except the lizard calvary, which were only starting to trickle in. they hadn't made it overly far before the return call was issued. So malik rentered his home, and looked around.
"The menfolk are back, none the worse for wear."

Malik's words got a glare. The menfolk, as if all the women had to stay at home and take care of the fortress. Just had to rub it in didn't he? But just like that card game abandoned as children went rushing to respective daddies. She chose to stay where she was with her glass of wine, leaning against the couch and busying herself picking up the cards. Didn't take long to get them all back and settled though she was dying to know why there were no injured and why it had been such a quick battle. Slapping the cards down on the table, she stood and grabbed her cloak. "You're back, I'm leaving. Zykariel's with you. Malikhai's with you. Enjoy boys." And to the front door with her. Oh wait. "Keely! Come on, you can help me."
Zykariel heard Malik and sure enough jumped up and ran to find his daddy. A few seconds later he was latched to Daddy's leg and lifting his arms to be picked up. "Daddy! Was it fun fighting the big lizard thingamajiggy? You didn't get hurt did you? Mommy said if you did I could help take care of you. And Mr. Malik too."

Piper sighed in exasperated fashion. It sucked when you couldn't see anything and even more when you were with people and didn't know them. Okay she was on standby then now wasn't she? Very much so. So she mrerely crossed her arms and leaned her weight to one side. "So..."
Jump up run, latch to Malik's legs. There would be a lot of latching in the next few days or perhaps weeks wasn't there? Daddy wasn't hurt, he knew that because daddy had promised. Though he was quite happy that he was back so soon. "Daddy! You're back!" Weren't they a cute pair in thier armor too? "Didja make the bad go away?" Because that would be excellent news to his little world.
Keely had been with Zahara and the boys, she considred the children her one and only job right now since Piper was gone. That was the way it had always been and she assumed it was now. Besides, children were not easy to take care of by one's self. But a nod to Zahara, getting up and starting to follow after her.
Sevilin smiled, reaching down and picking up his son, giving him a pet through his hair. "Well, we didn't exactly get to. The enviroment did our work for us, so we didn't have to get close enough to be hurt or anything...but I don't want you outside right now, okay?" Hey, there was gas and such out there....kids got into everything. Though a frown at Zahara. "Did you not learn earlier? And anything you would of gotten from the east banks is gone now, and you can't go over there or you'll die a horrible death. If you insist on being a fool and going out, at least put on some chainmail or something..." That woman...he just wanted to shake her sometimes...she confused him so much.
