The Darth Vizzle
Works for me. On the pretty likely chance that Cyrus doesn't get in, Deitric is going to take over the exhibition arena anyways and just have his own fights every round for s**t and giggles.

We should do a tag team match with Tres and James Eradas vs. Dietric and Doji

The two biggest arrogant douche-bags in gaia vs. the old guys.

Though Dietric isn't that old, he gives off that air of being old school.

and This is how I will sell that clothesline.

The feeling of being an old soul is intentional; in his "classic" iteration it's because he spent a number of years at war and while it didn't do "damage" to him, it definitely changed him, and his "redux" version was subject to pretty abject poverty and living pretty violently on the streets as a youth, having a similar effect on his personality.

So even though he's only in his mid-twenties, he feels a little "aged" because, in the words of a 'Nam vet, he's "seen some s**t." Not extraplanar cosmic entities from beyond the stars, but plain old human suffering and the worst kinds of s**t that mankind has to offer to one another; the stuff that sobers you up as opposed to driving you crazy.

Tres has seen some crazy stuff. Not that kind of sobering human suffering but like you said, he has seen the lovecraftian far realm s**t.

He encountered it last year in the HOH, he encountered Radek, he has fought against Daemons in Sigil.

but seeing as how Tres is already subtly crazy and that far-realm/warp/lovecraftian creatures are the 'devil' of his religion, it has allowed him to rationalize as best as a human possibly could.

I need to do a bit more with Tres's worship of Ioun in the future.

Techpriest Enginseer
What a d**k move

I've been hit in the balls before, Doji. It's bad, but one survives.

Let someone prepare to run you through the leg with a sword once (it can be outright fatal), and tell me you're not going to do something about it.

I wanna scrap...

as for the discussion of wrestling/mma techniques being used on people. It's cool as long as you don't just ignore s**t like Crawley did to get the locks in.

If someone let's you get the lock in... they deserve to lose to you.

Yeah, this is my problem with people using wrasslin' moves. Often they have to basically auto the attempt at the grab, and from there hold the knowledge over the opponent's head of exactly what to do to break free.

I would not say it is an unfair advantage, but it is not conducive to a good RP fight for anyone, really. Because obviously the really technical grappling doesn't really fly so you just run out of opponents anyway.

Same with having advanced knowledge of any martial subject. I could enter a swordsman and pull all kinds of technical maneuvers out to shut the opponent down completely, but that's also just another form of "munching." I think it's fine if the knowledge confers some advantage, but this is RP. I also think it's fine if people can BS their characters being master swordsmen or sorcerers with no prior knowledge.

I mean, face it, most of us can't do half this s**t in real life except maybe Vizzle because he's all ripped.

Do any of us really know what it is like to handle a sword? To manage the actual balance and weight with proper technique to land a solid blow in the frenzy of melee combat? To handle the adrenaline and pain?

Any attempt to be overly technical or realistic is silly. Just be logical. Sensible.

That's my rant for the day that nobody asked for. Now I'll fall asleep on my rocker while you whippersnappers play your Nintendos.

I used to technical the s**t out of people, sometimes I still do. These days I'd rather just RP and not worry about googling a bunch of submission holds and opening a physics book.

Everything Deitric does as a wrestler is derived from what I know, it's just "more" of it in the sense that he's literally twice as strong as me.. because I took my numbers and doubled or 1.5x the numbers, so he's basically twice the athlete I am in terms of raw power, which is one of the primary traits of a wrestler. It doesn't translate nearly as well in, say, boxing, although there is a definite advantage if you've got a lot of explosiveness.

Whereas I'm a fairly strong guy, he's just a freak of nature. Albeit within human possibility, but still a freak; the sort of guys you see in world's strongest man competitions or something, flipping small cars and s**t for fun. He's physically modeled to some degree after guys like Goldberg or Aleksandr Karelin (one of the baddest ******** on the face of God's Green Earth).

Yeah, that's why Marc's style is so stupidly simple. The big sword, aptly named Armor Cleaver, is really just insurance for very hardy opponents. Don't even really feel like using it.

I do want to enter a swordsman, but I feel I would more easily fall into the trap of trying to get very technical, and it's harder making it work and not be so lethal. Been thinking of going with some kind of blunt sword or some such. Or maybe something of hardwood, but with a very thin slicing edge. Anyway, working on my post now between work duties.
