Do not expect, of course, for me to speak at such a high level. I find it far too nice to speak like a common gentleman. After all, this is a harsh world.

I understand. Haha. I myself don't usually talk like that. Just being polite and gentlemanly.

I'm having to just sit and kill everything on !zOMG right now. Sadly, it would appear that my blackjack abilities cease to earn me prizes worth trading.

I do not take part in zOMG. My cousin didn't seem too interested in it and so I never tried it myself.

Hello.
And honestly, it is fairly terrible. The only good thing is, you make 10+gold per kill after a while, which you can basically keep hitting that one area, even after getting fairly above the strength for that area. It's such a bad game, that it can be good. Odd, to be honest.

Hmm. Interesting. You know, I don't really do much on Gaia outside of registered guilds. I don't role play actively anywhere in the forums and I don't play any of the games, etc.

Well, I find some of the games very good at keeping myself busy when I have nothing to do during the day. For one, I do one of their puzzles on insane (300 pieces) and spend about three hours doing them, for a hefty .5-.6k. Otherwise, I just earn gold to make outfits for RPs, hence why I'm looking slightly like a marine as of recently.

Interesting. I've tried fishing and some of the other simple games, but none of them captivated me.

It's amazing what one can find that shows the honest truth. Quote: As for the Marine Regulars, they are the more valuable part of the upcomming events in the RP. Sure the ODSTs kick a**, and kick a lot of it, but they can only kick a localized section of said collective a**. The Marines are the ones who do the heavy lifting, and they will have more toys and tools to work with than the ODSTs. This also means that you'll have more to do, IE, filling alien bastards full of holes and laughing as they drown in pools of their own blood! Taken from speech of The Hegemon. Bolded and italicized by myself. This shows the valid point that being a regular grunt has many, many, MANY advantages at times. And can be more fun.

I like Marines, ODSTs, and SPARTANs equally. Each unit is like a cog in a machine. The machine cannot operate if one of the three is not functioning properly.
The Marines are the main fighting force. They are instrumental in many UNSC victories. They are capable of wielding almost all weapons and driving almost all vehicles. They are well-trained, well-rounded troopers.
The ODSTs are the special operatives who do the dirty jobs and the stealthy jobs for which the Marines are not well-suited. However, they are fewer in number than Marines and don't take part in all the operations.
The SPARTANs are extremely rare, but extremely powerful. With their advanced armor and incredible skill with every weapon and vehicle imaginable, the SPARTANs destroy their foes ruthlessly and manage to complete missions that were deemed impossible.

I make my point simply in the large factor that the ODST are brought in, storyline-wise, for important missions, while the Marines, if they can handle it, are brought to almost every conflict possible. If you look hard enough, you find that the ODST make slight/little appearances throughout the games. Meanwhile, in the books, they appear slightly more.
With the book coming up about the ODST, I wouldn't be surprised to see them more. But, in all truth, they were, at times, deemed "minute-men." I believe this, personally, to be a reference to how you have the Rookie, who, at many times, would have died if not player-guided and deemed a worthy character in the Halo universe. Most of their battles, they're seen shooting into territory either heavily infested or under heavy watch, normally meaning a quarter to half of their men could be killed or wounded in the first portion of the fight.
In short, I think the Marines are far more skilled in open combat, while the ODST could only survive a fight, due to low numbers and simply terrible conditions, with large amounts of luck and aid. Then again, that's implied to be present at many times.

True. To put it simply, the Marines specialize in carrying out the "regular" missions, while the ODSTs specialize in carrying out the spec ops missions. That is the summary I would use if asked to summarize the Marines' and ODSTs' jobs. You simply don't see Marines conducting stealth and reconnaissance missions, nor do you see ODSTs on open battlefields.
