"See? Exactly my point," Apex said to Nightshade, before looking to Victoria. "You're sharper than most other children your age, I'll give you that. So, do you have any sort of opinion on this?" he asked the girl; mostly to humor her, but she did certainly seem more astute than most other kids her age.

She looked between the two men before focusing on Apex's question. Lucky for her, she had been working out reasoning and proper responses for Apex ever since she decided to follow them. Impulse didn't want to sound astute... but she certainly wasn't an idiot and she would demonstrate that.... she would also show just how long she had been listening to their conversation. She pulled together a conclusion for him out of what she had heard so far.
"Your logic is sound. With your reputation, and IO's want for that kind of work, you have that opening.... I think Oracle should hear about this right away."

Kesshou had stood there and stared at the wall for a long time. Apex didn't get that she did in fact understand there was going to be loss, nor that she would rather the loss be her's than anyone else's. She would openly admit to anyone that asked that she was a hotheaded, quick to act, not think about her own safety kind of person. She was ignorant of her own well being at most times.
Ignorance is bliss... That's what they say right? She thought only to herself before looking at Barbara's communicator. "I'm leaving." She told Oracle before turning her body into electricity and walked out instead of going through the light socket, just to get past Apex before jumping into the electric lines.

Apex noticed the streak of electricity rushing past him, but did not realize it was Kesshou. And even if he did realize it, he wouldn't have cared. He ignored the phenomena except for a single, cursory glance as it passed, and said to Impulse: "I agree. Though I'm unsure of how much she'd like to pretend to be Calculator. They have a bad history. Then again, I assume this mission is one that demands old hatreds be put aside... Or something like that."

A separate transmission piped in for Oracle.
"O, it's Robin. Do you have any time to help with a bit of research? We've got a nasty case over here, but a part of it reminded me of someone on your end."

"......this group is supporting people who have been killing our friends, and they're probably directly responsible for it as well. I looked through the files with my sister. The people they killed...we knew some of them personally, and some of them helped us train."
As Impulse continuously stared at Apex, she couldn't help but portray her anxiety and grief.
"Maybe she won't like it, but that 'hatred' isn't going to stop her from making the right choice."
Or the logical one. This little girl had just compared herself to Oracle. Maybe the ten-year-old did feel hatred towards these people, she wasn't clear on that herself... but Apex should know this wasn't an 'old' feeling towards these people. It was a fresh wound, and she still had the capability to reason the way she knew how.

Apex looked to Impulse and didn't seem to react to her words, not at first. He looked at her for a moment, surveying the emotions on her face. She had lost people she had known and cared about. The only people Apex cared about were gone already.
He grunted, and without another word moved back toward the base.

Oracle was beginning to feel like a switchboard operator, as she felt the migrane coming. Switching on her comm link, Babs responded to EVERYONE. First to Kai: "RC, we're discussing options right now. I'll keep you posted."
Then switching to respond to Tim, "Go ahead Tim. Send me the file.", then switching to speak to a direct link to the lightning felinoid streaking away on the power lines, "Kesshou? Where are you going?"

The screen in front of Babs started pulling up a large file one piece at a time. The case file that Tim had mentioned with a note at the end that read ' ^n.n^ Hope this is enough because that's all we've got so far. I'm going to talk to my contact in the Yakuza while you catch up. I'll keep you posted.'
"Out." Was all that Kesshou responded before turning her communicator off.

Oracle sighed heavily from Kesshou's curt response and the comm link cut off, "Wonderful... Okay I'm opening the file... Oh Holy Mary!"
As a wide eyed, Barbara stared at the file photos of the butchered mobsters -- mostly cut into ... chunks.
Songbird peered over Oracle's shoulder and was instantly mortified, "HOLY @#$IN; FREDDY KRUEGER!!!"

Apex walked back into the War Room as Songbird screeched in shock and disgust, and moved over to the files themselves. Unlike the two women, he didn't seem to have... any reaction. He could probably sit through the entirety of "Offended" and not react at all.
"An amatuer's work," he muttered, looking from beside Oracle. "I don't know who did this, but they're likely a rookie."

When Jaquelyn glanced to the screen after the files were pulled up, she gasped and quickly turned away, covering her mouth with both hands. the young speedster watched as Apex walked in realizing that her sister would soon follow, so she sprinted for the door to stop Impulse from entering.
"You... really don't want to see what they're looking at right now. Let's... explore more."
After a second, Victoria took her older sister's word for it, seeing how pale she had turned.

As Songbird glared at Apex's comment, Babs held a more professional eye on the gory photos, "Robin, I assume Kai's up to speed on these murders too, since she's right there? It looks like, according to the M.E. reports here, that all these men were killed with a series of slashes -- five blades on each swipe. The M.E. also notes that there is a slight variance in the distance of each swipe. I'm also seeing notes from the CSI's observing part of a cut iron girder with the same pattern with blood smears. The CSI's noted the arterial spray at each crime scene being consistant with the M.E.'s reports. My God... whoever this is really can slice through industrial steel like it was butter."

Apex looked over at Songbird as she glared, and he said quietly: "When you've seen people get thrown into industrial meat grinders, for example, something like this is nothing to you. I've seen much, much worse in the past five years."
His voice was calm, and emotionless, as he looked back at the files. Whoever had done this had... claws of something at least somewhat akin to Promethium if they could slice through gun metals like butter...
