Jake hadn't seen the curse coming so he was completely oblivious when Anna pushed him to the side to avoid the curse. He glanced back and shrugged at Anna-Marie's words. "Don't matter to me." Then he said loudly, "Russian blood is always a nicer color when stained on the walls than American anyway!" But the words became a distant echo as the distance between the four became suddenly greater.
Then, as if heeding his partners words, he turned a corner to head to the Astronomy Tower, his left hand still resting on the hilt of his blade.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daniel stopped mid search and he stood up straight rubbing the back of his head in slight embarrassment. "Right! Good idea, Neville!" He pulled out his wand and backed up so most of the Common Room was in his immediate and peripheral vision. "Accio pen!" The black clickie pen in his ear fell out and onto the floor as if the wand and spell were saying, "You gotta be kidding..."
The young Gryffindor looked down at the pen for a second before picking it up with a bright smile. "Hey! I found it!"
Dimitri stopped when he heard Jake, "I've decided what we're doing today." he snarled. His wand sliped back into his hand as he turned around. The Russian practically ran to intercept Jake and the Denali girl, "Vhat did I say, mudblood? Vhat did I say?!" he shouted, thoroughly pissed off. Dimitri Dolohov looked homicidal. He looked like a Death Eater. The Russian aimed his wand at Jake, "Crucio!" he shouted. He turned his wand on Anna-Marie, "Stay out ov it or I vill kill you vhere you stand!" he threatened. Dimitri trained his wand on Jake once more, "Say it to my face, mudblood. Say it to my face." he snarled. His thick Russian accent only added to his menacing image. The Russian's head was filled with demented, sick ideas. Violent fantasies and sick plans formed in his head. Dimitri just needed to hurt Jake. That's all there was to it.
Dimitri glared at Jake, "You vant to see Russian blood? You vant to prove your vorth? You vant to prove zat you are better zen a Death Eater and a pureblood? Zen duel me, filthy mudblood. Duel me!" he dared. If Jake was any sort of man, he would accept. If this wanna-be Harry Potter was a champion of the mudbloods, he would accept. Whether or not his girlfriend told him not to. She was Death Eater property anyways.
((hehe...so much hatred xd ))
Jake saw it, rather heard him, coming this time. So when the Cruciatus curse was fired off the Slytherin turned around and unsheathed his blade with his left hand right in front of him reflecting the curse away. He flipped the sword into his right hand and put out his left in front of Anna-Marie as if telling her to back off. "Now calm down Ruskie. I'm just stating a fact. And who better than to know better than a violent and death willing Nomad of the Siberian wasteland?" His words were calm and straight. He wasn't hesitating nor did he look worried as he knew this was coming.
Devin Williams rushed down from the Infirmary. Someone told him Dimitri Dolohov was back and he was ecstatic to see him. But when he saw Jake and Dimitri facing off he quickly ran to stop it. After all...one could not get support for the Dark Lord from a dead body. He stopped a few feet away so as not to be caught up in Dolohov's rage and from there he called out towards the two. "Wait! Stop! Dimitri...don't kill him at least!" His words almost sounded begging and he took a couple steps forward. "He is one of us Dimitri..." Devin hissed trying to keep his voice low so only he could hear him...it didn't work. "He has to play it out this way."
Jake glanced towards Devin whom he had cut just moments ago. He glanced between the two before keeping his eyes on the Russian, both hands now gripping the hilt of the sword. "What're you yapping about, Devin?"
Neville laughed when the pencil fell to the ground at Daniel's feet. Now he was sure the two of them were very similar. "If it was a snake, it would have bit you...."
Crucius chased after his friend as he rushed to see the scene. Why did Jake have to run his mouth? Seriously, I mean, apparrently he had a psychotic death wish. He always had to have the last word. As he skidded to a stop, he shook his head at the sight. Then Devin had showed up as well. As Devin was whispering to Dimitri, Crucius' gaze turned to Jake. "You don't know when to keep your mouth shut? Do you?" .
Anna-Marie had brought her hand up to her forehead as Jake ran his mouth. Didn't he realize the best fighting done now a days was the secretive quiet kind? Not the bold in your face approach. That usually got your butt killed. However, when she spotted Dimitri's wand pointed at her, she glared at him. "You won't kill me. If you do, your master will be quite displeased. No matter how much you are favored....I've provided him with valuable information on his searches for various individuals, and he will be quite displeased to lose his source." She explained moments before her eyes glossed over. "Now is not the time to attack, now is the time to strategisze and plan for the great battles ahead." That last statement was more or less stated for everyone around. As she finished speaking, her eyes returned to normal and she stepped aside. "Do as you please, I won't be a part of this..." She said, throwing her hands up and walking off. It was nonsense how males always had to one up the other. Girls were way more sophisticated in their fighting, dirtier too. Her time would come, she knew that. But she knew how to wait it out...
Dimitri smiled at Devin until he heard what the boy was saying, "Devin, this is a muggle-born. They don't serve the Dark Lord. Jake is a mudblood! The Dark Lord would want me to strike him down purely for being in the same house as us and you know it." he hissed, waving his wand in the mudblood's direction, "Let me duel him, my friend. I will leave him alive, but he must pay for what he said about Russia and the insults he gave me." the teen looked up at Anna-Marie and raised his eyebrow, "I admit, you do have a point. I wouldn't kill you. I'd force you to watch as I killed him." he snapped. He wasn't listening damn it. Dimitri glared at Jake. It was clear that he would duel this mudblood, no matter the consequences. The Russian swung his wand underhanded, stopping the swing when the wand was aiming at Jake's chin. A gray-ish light issued for the end of his wand and flew at Jake. The Russian wizard assumed a fencing stance. Fencing was the muggle sport involving foils that Dimitri had based his entire dueling style off of. He put his right hand behind his back, placed his left foot forward and held his wand as though it were a sword. He still managed to look rather elegant.
Dimitri slashed and stabbed with his wand, spinning and twirling. He let off a bang and a gray light with every movement. Obviously, these lights were spells. Dangerous ones at that. Curses and hexes. Dimitri had been the reigning champion in the dueling club in his second year, when Gildroy Lockheart had been teaching. It was purely because he had already developed this style long before he even stepped foot in England. When Dimitri had been quite young, about six or seven, his wand had already chosen him and his father had taught him a few basic spells. While searching for the Dark Lord, he and his father had often run into Aurors. Dimitri had begun dueling at the age of seven out of necessity. It was for his own protection. Dimitri was a wonderful duelist and a brilliant wizard. Not many people could beat him in a fair fight and most of those who could were on his side in the first place. The Russian sent another few spells in Jake's direction before defaulting back into his fencing stance, "Want to help him yet, Ms. Denali?" his voice was cold and mocking. Dimitri didn't get like this too often, but when he did, he was dangerous to everybody around him. The only person who was safe from his rages was Crucius, "Want to stop me before I kill him and place the Dark Mark in the sky over his body like he deserves?" he spat. If the seer was dating this wretched piece of filth, she was no better than him. In his eyes, the only difference between Jake and Anna-Marie was that he was allowed to kill one of them.
((Yeah... Dimitri's a pretty hateful person xD))
Anna-Marie went to walk off before she was spoken to again, and then the curses started flying. Grr. Males,k always thinking with their emotions and not with their brains? It would save the lot some trouble. "I don't want you to kill him...mainly because I don't want anyone to die today. I just met him today and barely know him. And, from what I can tell, he always has to have the last word and can't keep his mouth shut. But that is not a crime punishable by death." She stated, staring right at Dimitri. "Once again, do as you please, the lot of you. I won't be a part of this senseless violence." She said with a sense of finality. With that, she turned around once again and made her way up to the Astronomy tower.
Aideen giggled at Daniel as his pen fell from his ear; she was thankful that something was able to lift her spirits because she'd been rather discouraged and down in the dumps ever since the deatheaters had taken over Hogwarts and Dumbledore had been murdered. She knew that something must be done, but she didn't know exactly what. Aideen was too preoccupied with worrying about her parents to even think about trying to come up with a plan. She let out a heavy sigh. Well, I suppose I should get back to studying she thought. Aideen reached for her favorite pen and found that it was out of ink. She looked up and saw Daniel and Neville still standing in the Common Room. "Hey Daniel," she called out "May I borrow your pen for just a minute?"
Oh great...a fencer...HATE fencer's Was all Jake could think of when Dimitri used his wand in that weird way. He glanced at everyone around them and stepped forward towards Dolohov, his sword point pitching to the left as he attempted to parry Dimitri's wand up. And then Devin stepped in front of him arms outstretched to the side blocking him from the Russian. The Slytherin had no time to stop the blade from his current stance and he winced immensely as his left hand slid half-way up the blades edge to stop the momentum before the cold steel once again bit into Devin's neck...this time though the cut would have been much deeper. "What the <********> are you doing?" Jake screamed, the use of a bad word meaning he was thoroughly pissed off.
Devin couldn't believe what he had done. His body had moved before his mind screamed for him to stop and now here he was being yelled at by the very person who had cut him just a few minutes ago. The very person who had just cut himself to stop a blade from striking him. He gave a lopsided grin and turned his head back towards Dimitri with the same grin. "If he were on the otherside...wouldn't he have struck me down knowing of my support for our Dark Lord?" Devin looked to back towards Jake and scratched the semi healed cut on his neck. "Please Jake...we should not fight each other over simple words exchanged. There is no point in fighting each other when we have others to fight."
"Goddammit Devin, you ******** up my whole momentum. What were you thinking?" Jake snapped taking a couple steps back and placing his hands back on the hilt of the sword just in case Dimitri were to attack even with the idiot in the way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daniel smiled to Aideen and offered her the pen. "That's okay, you can keep it. I have another one." He reached into his pocket and pulled out five pen's in his fist.

Dimitri grabbed Devin's robes, "He missed!" he snarled, moving his friend out of his way roughly. Dimitri slashed through air with his wand, sending a curse flying at Jake. The Russian jumped back to avoid the reach of Jake's sword, "What you fail to understand, Devin," he flicked his wand, sending another curse towards Jake, "is that this mudblood insulted me. I am not trying to kill him. I am trying to teach him his place!" Dimitri was pissed off. He was angry because Jake had been goading him. He was angry because Devin was trying to stop him. It just wasn't a good first day back for Dimitri. The Russian was prepared for anything in this fight. He was prepared to fling his friends out of the way of incoming swords, he was prepared to avoid swords, and he was fully prepared to seriously injure anybody. Really, he was amazed that a professor hadn't put a stop to this. They were right in front of the school. That was also something he was prepared for, scattering when a professor showed up. He was rather good at that. Lots of practice.

"Oh, thanks Daniel" Aideen said while her face turned bright red. "I owe you a favor now" she mumbled while she quickly looked down and began to fumble with her books and papers in an attempt to hide her ever growing blush. In her flustered state she dropped Daniel's pen on the floor. "Well, uh...I guess I better be getting off to...uh...the Astronomy Tower. I...uh...think I left a book in there." Adieen rose from her chair and began to leave hurriedly, stammering behind her "I'll...uh..see you later Daniel." As she neared the door she realized that she had left her wand on the table she was working at. Aideen scurried back and picked her wand up and looked up to see Daniel. She smiled a goofy and embarrassed smile while her face went from a slight red to the color of a lobster and then quickly exited the Common Room. As Aideen started her walk to the Astronomy Tower she started to scolded herself for always being so clumsy around cute boys.

Devin stumbled a little as he was pushed out of the way, slightly shocked that his actions to protect Jake didn't work to stop it all.
Jake dodged the curse again and kept dodging, obviously bent on personally cutting Dimitri instead of relying on curses. Though he ran away from his attacks like a coward each leap, each roll, each flip brought him closer and closer towards the Russian. The pain in his left hand subsided due to the adrenaline rush he was experiencing from the duel. At one point or another though he realized his tactics weren't working. That he would have to back Dimitri into a corner somehow for Jake to get close enough.

Dimitri snarled as he slashed the air and twirled. His fighting style was so elegant, it looked as if he was dancing with an angry look on his face. The Russian wouldn't be backed into a corner, he was too good to fall for that. Dimitri twirled his wand aggressively, issuing a stream of fire from the tip. The flames formed the shape of an oriental-style dragon about twice Dimitri's size. The dragon rushed from the tip of Dimitri's wand towards Jake, moving in a snake-like motion. The Russian cackled manically, tossing another few curses in Jake's direction. He would put Jake out before the burns became fatal... Maybe. He wouldn't use the killing curse... He assumed. It would be amusing, if it wasn't so damned frustrating, that Jake was avoiding so many curses and spells. If it was wand on wand rather than wand on magical sword, things might be different. Dimitri's fighting style was efficient, elegant, and was not designed with swords in mind. Fencing involved foils, not swords. That, and Jake seemed hellbent on cutting Dimitri rather than cursing him, "I'll give you this much, mudblood. You're a frustrating opponent!"

Jake didn't expect as much. For him to back Dimitri into a corner would be for Jake to be a Master at dueling. But he was not. On his last roll Jake came to a stop on one knee. He quickly drew a square around him, then stabbed the floor int front of him as he stood his ground against the flaming dragon and the few curses right behind it. Right before either of them got to him he twisted his sword and screamed, "Descendo!" The chunk of ground Jake had outlined suddenly separated from the rest of the floor and suddenly sunk 50-feet into the ground avoiding everything. Then the teen pulled out his sword and stabbed the ground in front of him screaming another form of words.
The ground below him suddenly shot up back to ground level, but other spaces in the ground all around both he and Dimitri shot up creating pillars all around them. And Jake used one to roll out of sight.

By the time Aideen had reached the Astronomy Tower her mind was so full of thoughts of Daniel and how stupidly she acted that she had completely forgotten why she had went there. Aideen plopped down into a wooden chair and pulled out her nootbook so she could doodle, but she realized that she left Daniel's, now her, pen in the Gryffindor Common Room. "Crap!" Aideen exclaimed. Suddenly, Aideen heard a noise in the room. Oh no, she thought, this is going to be the end for me. Voldemort's going to have his deatheaters do something terrible to me to get back at my parents. She picked up her wand and looked at it as is laid in her hand. Well, I'm not going to go down without a fight. My name isn't Aideen Caley for nothing! She raised her wand in the direction of the noise. Just as Aideen was about to yell "Crucio!" she saw that her wand was pointing at Anna-Marie, and putting two and two together, Aideen realized that it was Anna-Marie that was made the nosie and not a deatheater come to do her in. As Adieen lowered her wand she said, "Sorry Anna-Marie. I didn't mean to do that; it's just, I thought that you were a deatheater. I know, it's an absurd notion, but I'm rather paranoid about it with my parents being who they are. Please forgive me."

Crucius had backed away from the two dueling, mainly to make sure he didn't get caught in a crossfire. Besides, the whole thing was quite amusing to watch. However, he averted his gaze for a moment to focus on an approaching figure. "McGonagall! " He yelled out in a warning to Dimitri.
Anna-Marie had seen what the girl was going to do moments before it happened, which is why she stepped into Aideen's line of vision before it happened. "It's alright, Aideen. I'm sorry if I scared you." She apologised, walking over to one of the windows and leaning against the stone sill. "The only Death Eaters here are the Carrows and Snape. However, that won't remain true for long..." She said, referring to their Halloween ceremonies. There were going to be quite a handfull of new Death Eaters roaming the school. Immature ones at that. It was going to be a pain to deal with..
