"Yeah..." James replied, "I was in the Training Center. I sort of did a number on myself while I was there, too. But, life goes on."

He sized her up, somewhat like she did to him. She seemed already accustomed to her new state, enough at least to move about without it being a burden. She seemed to have slept well enough too, which James wished he could say for himself. He wouldn't complain though, because he did indeed do it to himself.

"Seems you forgot what you called me as well." James mocked slightly, trying to turn something depressing into something more pleasant, "Anyway, the choice to go to Esthar is your's and your's alone. If you'd like to do that, then that's where we'll go. I may be a higher rank SeeD, but the trip isn't for me."

Her reply would come in time, and he expected it would come with more questions about the bandages. He was also sure that she'd ask about what she used to call him. He'd answer honestly, of course, but trying to rebuild the old Rainer wasn't something that he was keen on doing. There was something about it that just didn't feel right to him.

Mimi had made her way back to her dorm room late the night before. Just waking, she stretched her arms above her head and felt her back crack in several spots. Wincing, she rolled her shoulders as she sat up and glanced out her window. Balamb was still drifting lazily on the waters, which were currently a clear blue. The sun shone brightly, nearly blinding her as it reached through the blinds.

Standing up, she changed into a pair of jean shorts and a tank top before making sure that the ring was still around her neck. Checking the drawers, she noted that there wasn't much to take with her. Most of her clothes she had sent to the transport unit they'd be using once they reached land.

Slowly, her mind drifted to the conversation she had shared with Alistar the night before. Deciding not to think too much on it, she grabbed her sword, hung it over her back, made her bed, and left the room, shutting it behind her. She wouldn't be back to see it anytime soon - of that fact she was almost sure.

She made her way to the infirmary, hoping to catch Rainer. There was no need to say good-bye to Alistar anymore. Passing a few windows, she noted that Balamb had drifted close to land, perhaps waiting for them to leave for Esthar before drifting out back to sea where Alistar most likely thought it would be safer.

Standing in front of the infirmary, Mimi asked a nurse if Rainer was awake. Hearing that James was inside with her, she waited outside of the room patiently to let them finish whatever conversation they may have started. They would have to leave soon - hopefully without any delay or trouble.

((OoC: Just a thought. If bluangeltoh isn't coming back, should we just assume that she was one of the fallen SeeD members who passed on when Galbadia attacked?))

(It would work.)

Isaac had nothing to collect, really it saddened him a little. He should have brought more. And his outing the last night a wrought nothing but exhaustion. He shuffled up next to Mimi and didn't bother talking, or doing anything else. He waited outside the door as well, not really wanting to get picked about by nurses and doctors. He found that morning that he had several cuts all over him, the most noticeable was a large one on his cheek.

Rainer shifted uncomfortably at the mention of forgetting what she had called him. She stood uncertainly as James talked, trying to recall his voice and image in her mind. She gave a mental sigh as nothing came up.

"My choice?" Rainer asked exasperatedly. "I hate making choices for everyone. Too much pressure!" She shook head stubbornly and crossed her arms. "But if that's the way it's going to be, then I say we go to Esthar. If anything, the libraries and professors there may have something to say about this whole Sorceress thing."

Rainer let her eyes wander back to James' bandages.

"Why did you let yourself get so injured?" she asked softly, frowning slightly at the bandages. "I'm sure grats couldn't have done that; were you fighting a T-Rexaur?" Rainer's frown deepened as she looked back into his eyes. "You shouldn't have done that, James." Again, the name came strangely to her mouth. Irritated, Rainer asked, "I know at least I never called you James. What did I call you before...?"

((Turned out slightly longer than I expected. ^^; ))

"Worry about yourself, squirt." James replied sarcastically, "And to answer your question, you called me basically any deviation of the phrase 'Bossman.' It was kind of odd, really, but it's what you insisted on calling me. It turned formalities into casualties."

He lead Rainer out of the Infirmary to find Mimi and Isaac standing there. They said nothing, merely waited for orders. So, being the high rank SeeD, he had to inform them of Rainer's decision. To Esthar they would go, whether he thought it was a bad idea or not.

"We're going to Esthar." James's voice remained flat, "It was Rainer's decision, and that's what she decided on. For now, she's in charge. Yes, she is. Regardless of our ranks, Rainer will be in command. Why? This trip is for her. I'll take over if things get a bit hairy, but other than that we all listen to her. Mimi, although I technically have no right to give you orders, I ask that you do this as well."

His last comment, the one directed at Mimi, was not as a Commander looking to his soldiers. It was a request from a friend to a friend. He would have it no other way, considering all the danger she was about to put herself through.

"And as I'm sure you can see, it's going to be some time before I can fully fight again." James had already moved on to the next subject, "The three of you are going to do the primary battling for a while, and I will be strategist. I'm going to need some time to heal after last night."

His gaze fell upon Isaac, the one out of the three who had witnessed his battle with the T-Rexuar the night before. Isaac knew the kind of damage James had taken and so if any were to question the order, it wouldn't have been him. James hoped that Isaac would be able to use his higher rank to effectively guide the changed Rainer in the right decisions as well. His gaze upon his young student stated that clearly.

"Now!" He smiled to his students, his gaze once again falling upon Rainer, "Shall we head to that transport that I'm sure Alister already had prepared for us?"

(I've actually been waiting for you to post. While I waited I repeatedly watched the video in your profile that doesn't make sense to me... biggrin )

Isaac rubbed his eyes, mumbling several incoherent things. He thought he was saying, "You didn't have to tell us that, I'm sure we could have figured that out if we didn't already know. What is that? What's that look?" He suddenly realized that his grumbling couldn't be understood, after hearing himself, so he shrugged his shoulders and moved aside so that the two could move a little more. He didn't know where anything was, despite his exploring. He resolved to start visiting places after he was mission free for a while, to learn about the places.

Mimi listened nonchalantly, and nodded as James regarded her about commands. She smiled and began making her way towards the door. It was no problem for her. If anything, she didn't take the lead unless she had to. If other's were willing to lead, she left it up to them.

Glad that James knew Alistar well enough, Mimi made her way to the transport area. Having no one, really, to say good-bye to, this would be another fast departure. As the other's walked along behind her, another forboding feeling passed over her but she quickly shook it off.

Standing in front of a rather roomy transport with bunks inside, but no SeeD insignia, Mimi pulled out a key that had been dropped by her room earlier. Unlocking the door, she stepped in and slid into the driver's seat. Her sword she had placed in a compartment behind her.

Waiting for the other's to get in, she stretched before letting her hands fall to the wheel. Balamb was almost to the shoreline . . . and soon she'd be leaving once again.

James was second into the transport. Looking around, he was quite impressed by how roomy it was. Four bunks, more than enough for their group. He inspected the windows; all of them were bullet proof glass, which was good, should they be attacked. And there were also several secret compartments that he took note of, various handles opening things that didn't look openable. Some contained food and water; some contained extra weapons supplied by the Balamb SeeD; some were empty so that the group's own weapons could be placed in them.

He made his way up to the Driver's Area and slid into the seat next to Mimi. His movements were slow courtesy of the damage he had received the night before, but still enough for him to get around quickly. Balamb was slowly coming to a stop; he could feel it and assumed she could as well.

"You sure you can get us there?" James asked in a joking manner, "The Garden's likely stop will be Tear's Point. From there, we'd be able to travel about half way via car. Then, the rest will have to be on foot."

Isaac shuffled on after James, "Meh," he grumbled as he made his way to the back. He quickly unbuckled his pouch and slung it across into a locker. He dove head first into one of the bunks and sighed, maybe they'd let him sleep now. He hoped so, for their sake.

Rainer's eyebrows furrowed as she frowned. Bossman? No recollection of that, either. Rainer sighed as she followed James out of the infirmary. A nurse approached Rainer, so she stopped. The nurse smiled and procured Rainer's gunblade from behind her back, and Rainer took it hesitantly. The power coursing through her did not like the gunblade, and Rainer felt a sudden violent urge to throw the gunblade into the sea. However, she supressed this feeling and strapped it to her belt. It hung by with its familiar weight at her side. Rainer nodded in thanks to the nurse who then turned back and strode back in to the infirmary.

Rainer arrived in time to hear James' orders and instructions. She bit her lip, slightly uncomfortable. Despite her life-long wish to be in command of others, to have the privelege suddenly given to her made her unsure. The power surged through Rainer again, making her feel more confident, though more than a bit nauseated.

She followed along after everyone, slipping into the back with Isaac. A small smile came to her mouth as she saw him immediately make for the beds. Rainer wasn't tired, having slept well, so she merely sat back in the back seat and waited for the Garden to come to a stop.

Finally, the Garden came to a last, shuddering halt with much vibrating. Rainer clutched at her already nauseous stomach as the heavy vibration reverberated through her. But the feeling was stomped down as a large portion of the wall lifted and revealed Tear's Point to the SeeDs. Rainer grinned, excited at last, and leaned forward between the two front seats.

"So we go, eh, Bossman?" Rainer said, smiling at James. Sure enough, the nickname sounded more natural to her and Rainer was filled with hope that perhaps her memory would come back and she wouldn't have to hurt James any longer.

Rainer then turned to Mimi, smile still in place.

"Step on the gas, Mimi! Esthar is waiting for us!"

Mimi turned to James and grinned. "Are you contemplating that perhaps I lack skills in my ability to drive? That would be very unkind of you, you know?" She glanced back through the front window of the vehicle, which was rather large, but still tinted so that those outside could not see in. However, from the inside, everything looked just as if Mimi had been standing outside herself.

Starting the ignition and placing her hands on either side of the steering, Mimi tested the motor before letting the rumble of the gas die down. Glancing back as Rainer spoke, Mimi laughed. "Gotcha'." She floored the gas, and the transport flew out of the garage of Balamb Garden onto Tear's Point.

Glancing only briefly at one of the camera screens facing towards the back of the transport, Mimi watched as Balamb Garden's doors shut and the large goliathe of architecture traveled back out to sea. With a sigh, her eyes turned back to the road.

She was unsure as to whether or not she would return to the garden anytime soon. And whether or not she would ever see certain individuals again. Shifting in her seat, she drove on, following the road out of Tear's Point towards Esthar. They would get as far as they could before having to leave the transport at a town and walking the rest of the way. In the back of her mind, she recalled that the grounds around the limits of Esthar had grown raged with monsters. Hopefully they wouldn't run into too much trouble.

"I have complete faith in your ability to drive, Mimi." James's gaze drifted to the side mirrors, watching Balamb Garden drift back out to see, "I just know the road. Esthar has been my home for thirty, long years."

When his voice settled, the pleasant hum of the engine was all that could be heard. Occasionally a monster flew by, roaring as it past overhead. Some ran with the vehicle, keeping in toe for a short distance before eventually falling back. It was an interesting sight, really. Fascinating, as well.

A myriad of thoughts passed through his mind as Mimi drove them in the direction of Esthar. Many he would never share with those around him. Others, though, he considered. It would be on a need to know basis, though. They were all safer that way. The longer they were kept out of harm's way on James's part, the better.

As Mimi drove, she was allowed to let her thoughts roam freely. When in Esthar, she would have to leave the group for a short while to visit him. On Alistar's behalf of course.

She hadn't seen him in a while. And she wasn't even sure if he, with his crazed mind, would remember her. With a sad smile, she let the car cruise along the road. The scenary passed and a series of monster's came and went.

Slowly, the road became less smooth and the surrounding area harsher in appearance. At last, there was no more road and Mimi drove for a short while off-road, the transport rocking about as they pummeled their way over racks and uneven ground.

With a sigh, she pulled the brake and slowed the transport as they came to a small town in a small clearing. She was surprised the place could even be called a town.

As the vehicle stopped, she passed a few huts and homes before finding an out-of-place garage at the town's boundaries. The transport pulled into the garage, the only vehicle there and groaned to a halt. Until they arrived back from Esthar, the vehicle would remain here.

Turning off the engine, Mimi stood up and grabbed her blade. Facing James and the other two in the back, she smiled. "You guys ready? We're gonna' have to go on foot from here . . . or find some other means of transport. Chocobo maybe. But that's only if we're lucky. It's all up to you Rainer." She stopped talking and waited patiently for the other's to either make plans or make their way out of the transport. A shiver passed over her. A testament to the mission she was on.

(My biggest post so far! And it's still smaller than all of your's! crying )

As Isaac fell out of the bunk, and hit the floor of the transport. He rubbed his sore face as he got up to get his pouch. He simply stood outside the transport, hardly thinking about what was being said at the time. Though he was amazingly groggy, his mind was working overtime as he thought of his puzzle.

"What possessed Rainer to agree to that? Or was she forced? She must of been forced by that Sorceress... But then how did they reach her? It can't be easy to sneak into a garden... Was anything said in that battle?"

Isaac thought back to the fight between Rainer and the two men. The barrier had muffled the conversation inside and the sound of Isaac's pounding on the barrier with his fists filled his ears most of the time.

"They must have had help, but from who? Not Rainer, me, Alistar, or James. That leaves Mimi or Beatriz from our group... Mimi so far has been a help and is very unlikely... And Beatriz was killed... They wouldn't kill a successful spy..." He started at a low grumble that slowly progressed to, "UUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Isaac yelled aloud. "It's maken' my head hurt!"

Rainer sighed and stepped out of the vehicle, completely missing what Mimi said to her. She stood next to Isaac as he stood apparently deep in thought. However, she moved away as he yelled. She threw him a puzzled look but didn't ask. Some things were better left unknown.

"Jeez... this place is a dump," Rainer grumbled, shoving her hands in her pockets. Her gunblade hung to her side, a heavy weight and reminder of herself. Her fingers itched to pull the gunblade out to confront bypassing monsters. This place wasn't safe. There were Malboros, Toramas, Imps, Behemoths and other deadly forces. But the thought of monsters only made her Sorceress blood race with excitement.

"I think perhaps we should talk to some people here, and then get going. But maybe it'd be best to wait till morning. Spending nights in the Great Plains of Esthar wouldn't be wise."
