Who really knows.... well- I bet the creators of Final Fantasy Characters know....
...
But as for me, I just his arm thing is Hott... So I guess I dont need to know.... if so, it might ruin the hottness of it all whee

There are two answers to this question. Depending on which camp you're in.
A. An arm. It's a gauntlet.
or
B. Circutry. It's mechanical.
In AC it sure looks like a gauntlet to me. But I'd love him no matter what he was made of.

If I recall correctly, in the game, Hojo shot him, correct? well, it just HAPPENs to be like....right at that shoulder....
So whilest experimenting on him, Hojo found that his arm would be useless to him...so instead of amputating it, Hojo decided to torture him further and give him that....a metal arm (somewhat like Ed's auto-mail from FMA) to use...though it's a TERRIBLE one, and was more to be shown as a joke more than anything else.... but underneath it all, is an arm...that is scarred, and cannot be used somehow without the metal claw above it....
That is my speculation, however....along with the Hojo shooting thing.... sweatdrop

Still it can be a bit sad though- Cause it seems he was deprived in getting a better arm. All the more- the big claw makes him look.... rugged? haha I know thats not the word but its the only one I can think of. I think you all get the idea

Maybe the side affects of the experiments did something to his arm and he covers it with the claw gauntlet.

i just thought it was a mechanized arm thing. kinda like barrets arm gun only, vincent's is an arm. not a gun ^.^
