MagusNecromancer Judging by all the information in FF7, one would have to say that Hojo is Sephiroth's father, plain and simple. If one looks at what Vincent has to say about Sephiroth and the SHM in the movie, one would have to reach the same conclusion. However, Dirge of Cerberus pretty much proves that Hojo is Sephiroth's father, and that he used his own son to perform an experiment that he would eventually duplicate on himself. And as for the Jenova thing, one interesting thing that has been pointed out to me is this: When Sephiroth breaks Jenova's headless body from her containment unit in Shinra Tower and immediately slaughters everyone in the upper levels of the Tower, her container is burst from the inside. Although MN has heard a lot of really bizarre reasons for this, he believes it is very simple: This is merely another example of Sephiroth manifesting into a random clump of Jenova cells, like the Jenova-DEATH fight mentioned in the first post. Any significant amount of Jenova cells (I.E. Kadaj and Jenova's head) is a potential Sephiroth, as long as Sephiroth's energies have not been absorbed into the Lifestream, which they obviously were not (remember the red Lifestreams escaping from Sephiroth's body at the end of FF7?)... I remember discussions about this years ago and...well to be honest he pretty much hit the nail on the head...That red burst of life stream wasn't a random death sequence it was Sephiroth escaping from the lifestream

mrs.toad In regard to the crater, i.e. the north crater, it's implied that however Jenova did get to the planet, her landing caused it. It's possible she did this via a meteor, though all we know from what Ifalna tells us is that the Cetra were there patching things up, the planet told them to go, they didn't, out came Jenova to screw with their heads. After she turned most of them into monsters, the few survivors banded against her. Right you are. The game confirms that she arrived on meteor. As does FF7: AC. Blatantly, I might add. In fact...Sephiroth's new intention in the movie was to "Sail the cosmos to search for a new planet, just like my mother did years ago." In other words, he wanted to turn the planet into Meteor.

Regrets and Romance So youre telling me this whole time Jenavo was a girl! eek Jenova isnt technically a girl but neither is it technically a man. It is a thing that has shapeshifting capabilities. Thus, we should refer to Jenova as an it since it has no clear clearly identified gender due to the presence of features found on either males or females respectively found on Jenova at the same time. Conclusion: Jenova is an it.

There is something I have never really understood as far as FinalFantasy 7 goes. I've been told that Jenova is Sephiroths mother. I've also been told that Lucrecia was the one who gave birth to Sephiroth. What exactly is the story with this?

Two things I have to say on that. One is that you really should read Squall_of_SeeDs post, since that explains it really at some point. Another, is that Ill answer you.
Jenova is not Sephiroths mother. Lucrecia is the mother and birther of Sephiroth. Hojo was the father and also the one who injected Jenova cells into Sephiroth while he was still in Lucrecias womb. That injection is what people claim made him Jenovas "son" even though its only something that formed up with his DNA structure, causing Sephiroth to become a superhuman so to speak.
Jenova is noones mother, only an alien whose cells, when entered into a humans body, can enhance that human to certain levels depending on the amount of cells injected into the body.
Lucrecia and Hojo are the true parents of Sephiroth.

I just had some questions that might have to do with this that I was hoping someone could answer. I feel like there is an inconsistency with the timeline concerning the videos at Icicle Inn. In the last video where Gast is abducted by Hojo (to get information on JENOVA, right?), Aerith is already mentioned as being born. So...would that mean that Gast was abducted before Sephiroth's birth, or after? And also, why is it that only some people infused with JENOVA cells were manipulated by Sephiroth? After all, all SOLDIERs have the cells, but many are fought during the game, and not seen trailing after Sephiroth. There's also Vincent, who must have JENOVA cells if he's capable of transforming like he does, so why isn't he manipulated? Just wondering if anyone could answer. Thanks! heart
