Circling the tower, a single raven slowly decended from the air; tied to it's leg was a message intended for the only inhabitants of this barren, lifeless land.

Alofting upon a windowsill, the raven tapped on the glass.

Well, most everyone would be underground in the lairs, doing their own things whether it be experimentation, study, plotting, and whatever else they did. Tade however, would not. He did not exactly like being underground, stuck with a roof constantly over his head, with no sunlight, and breathing stagnant air, nope, it didnt interest him one bit. So, whenever he made a stop at Sorrow's Keep, he prefered to stay above ground, even if it was in the busted up keep. It really didnt matter to him what the condition of the place was in, because just like the neglected structure, his appearance wasnt all that tidy either.

Now, as a bird would be pecking at the glass window which still remained, the boy was excersising himself in the open room, swinging the cudgel around rather aimlessly until his attention was on the noise and the raven.

Oh look, a friend! "Hullo there!" the boy said with a smile as he opened the window to let the bird in, and perhaps let some fresh air into the building, lest it start to smell stale like the underground.

Caw! Caw!

At the open window, the bird took flight again; quickly circling the open room several times befores swooping through a low doorway and into the Keep. It decended through the hallways and, soon, the tunnels of the ruins making perfect turns as if it knew perfectly where it was going already.

It's path ended when it reached a barred door, however; and the raven was left to perch upon it and wait.

It was so sudden, so abrupt, that Tade would topple over backwards with a "Whoa!" as the bird flew into the room. He'd watch it circle around a few times, lying on his back before it would swoop out of the room. At first, he was just sort of dumbfounded by what had just happened, until he realised there was something tied to the animal's leg.

Well, considering that wildlife seemed to stay away from the place, and that the animal seemed to know what it was doing and where it was heading, it didnt take long for the boy to realise he should alert the boss. He'd roll over to his pack which lay on the floor not too far from him as he would dig around for a little bit before taking out a little silver bell. He'd shake it, but there would be no sound.

*****

Decruda would be in his study, reading up on some text labeled as 'walking along the dark road' or something in the like, being roughly translated into common. As he was flipping one of the pages in the middle of the tome, he'd be interrupted by a soft chiming sound which rung through the chamber. The chamber of course, was empty but for himself. It could only mean one thing; something was going on.

He had given the magic bell to Tade, because if the boy didnt want to stay underground in the lair like everyone else, he might as well be put to use on guard duty or the likes. The bell of course, would be rung if something was going on. In this case, there would be a bird carrying a message going down into the lairs and stopping by a door.

The spellsword would put a marker on the page he was on before closing the tome and getting out of his chair, taking the book with him, carried in the crook of his arm. He'd push the chair neatly back to the desk as he would head out of the little room, opening the door.

As the door opened, the Raven alofted again with a "caw" that echoed through the twisting labrynth. It circled once in the tunnel, passing near to an open torch flame, and then entered through the freshly opened door to find itself a place to perch upon the edge of an ancient alchemist's desk.

"Caw!"

The bird turned its head to the side abruptly, then set to work pruning its feathers.

The Message
The underground of Lament is a den of filth, full of crime, poverty, and death. From here we can move at our own pace, within easy reach of fresh meat. With the gates closed, the walled city becomes a prison. This city is a perfect place to harvest. We have only to take it for ourselves.

A blur of black feathers fluttered around and swept by him as he raised an eyebrow in surprise, watching it enter his study. And at that time, he'd notice the little note tied to the bird's leg.

"Ah, a message," he mused to himself as he turned about and entered the study to retrieve the note, "But who could it be from?"

He'd set down the book as he would remove the note from the raven gingerly and begin to read it, leaving the bird alone to do as it pleased. And when he finished, he would chuckle. Oh that Gavin, such a devious man.

He'd write several small notes of his own before he'd leave the study, and they were as vague and open as it was simple; 'Infiltrate Lament' marked with his name at the bottom. Obviously, with his word choice, it meant a great deal of finesse was involved. With each note, he gave to one of the many crawling claws which moved about the maze-like tunnels of the lair as he moved along to its exit in the ruins with the simple instructions of delivering them to interested parties of what Gavin would have planned.

As he entered the run down keep, he made his way up to where the boy would be, giving him some instructions. Others may not be directly influenced by Decruda, but Tade however, was one of his agents.

He'd give the boy a description of a person, the location of this person, and a message as well as gift to give to this person.

And with that, the two would go their seperate ways. Tade would pack his stuff and head off from the ruins towards civilisation, and Decruda would return underground as he disappeared into a dark tunnel.

The raven, its task completed, faded into nothingness as it was released from its binding to this plane.

"That's enough... let me down. I'll walk from here."

The being dropped to hands and knees, letting Descant descend from its shoulders. After looking at her right shoulder, she quickly slapped some stray hair from her face. "Go... shamble somewhere or something. Stay out of trouble." The five escorts were pretty much trained enough that they all left to the west, where they would simply sit upon the ground against the wall- and would be that way until Descant ordered them to do otherwise. The difference was between those who had the music still ringing in their soul, and those who had no soul.

She walked the halls of the Keep alone, a finger tapping against her cheek. The sample she'd gotten was of an elementalist female, but it would probably be useless. All the same, she could hold her own doomed-to-fail experiments while she was here, seeing about infusing her warrior choir with some powers that selected.

She had no doubt that there would be no success, and the method was so complicated that she'd only make a mess of things. However, with the others in Lament and she in wait, Descant needed something interesting to do.

"Bloody hell, I'm lost," the death knight grumbled as he brought his nightmare to a halt, gazing up at unfamiliar mountains, and an unfamiliar coast. He had started off in the right direction, riding away from Yaits City, but had somehow gotten turned around in the desert, and ended up looping around to the east, rather than staying west. Unfortunately, the Black General didn't realize that until a couple days later, when he noticed that he was still in the desert.

"Where am I?" the Black General asked himself as he gazed up at the mountains again. The death knight sensed a high concentration of death magic nearby. Another necropolis? Bringing his shadowy steed about, the Black General rode toward the Keep.

Some time later, the audience would find Descant cartweeling around the place she'd made for herself. The room was candlelit, and among the spiders' homes and extra rolls of cloth, other instruments hung suspended from the air by little more than a thread. There was some kind of organization system, but it mattered to none and nothing else but her. She looked up at the instruments and cloths, deciding after some time to pull down the pan pipes.

"Hmm..."

The Black General came upon the Ruins of Sorrow's Keep, pulling his steed to a halt. He put a hand on the pommel of his sword, gazing around and looking for any signs of life or activity. "This must be a crypt. I wonder if anyone's home."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 30, 2006 2:09 pm

Now was one of those times when people were home, but they were in the kitchen that was all the way in the back, and thusly wouldn't be able to hear. But one would think that the drab and dreary scenery would be enough to deter anyone who found themselves lost in this part of the world. Oh, what misfortune may await the poor unlucky beings.

Or, it could be just that the people in the house didn't want to be bothered, so ignored the one knocking and all the such.

Descant pushed open the large, wooden door that shielded her rom from the light of the dilapidated balcony, seeking to play a passing tune on its rail. This is when she'd notice someone out on the horizon. It didn't look like Decruda, and none of the others were planned to be here... in fact, she was betting that they were at Lament before her and had arrived in that place before the citywide lockdown.

A whistle, and she opened her palms in the figure's direction, touching her index fingers and thumbs together.

"...Well, hello there."

She mused on the approaching knight-type, waiting to see what the man would do before she bothered anyone else. It's not like they could have helped, but at least they should know.

The Black General wasn't just another somebody. He was a death knight, a creature of undeath and corruption - perfect for this type of setting. His helmed head turned upward at the figure that appeared on the balcony. Eyes glowing like embers stared at her for a moment, but there would be no hostile action. Other than the chill aura of dread that always surrounded him, the death knight would make no moves. Instead, he would ask a simple question.

"What is this place?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 30, 2006 2:25 pm

The two of them wouldn't be anywhere near each other (lest this author be incorrect about position) but the knight could scream his questions if he'd like. She wasn't going to return an immediate answer... instead, she shifted her focus elsewhere, hoping that she'd get some kind of "reception" from this far. Of course, she was trying to get to Decruda... she wasn't "close" with the others so he was the first person he thought of speaking to.

Decruda was busy at the moment. He wouldnt recieve the message. However, if the man would approach the ruins, he would be greeted by the wraiths, which of course, would question his presence, and his business.
