Hearing Austin's voice Mizuki returned to the present time, breaking out of her daze from the flashback. "Oh, I'm sixteen. And you?" She asked, brushing a stray strand of hair with one hand and taking a bite from her salad with the other.

('sokay) "Me? I'm eighteen." Hearing that she was younger than him made him feel guilty somehow, but he brushed this feeling away and took a bite of his ribs, chewing neatly since he was in female company. "What's your hometown?" He took another rib from his plate, having finished the first, and took another bite.

Hearing him reply to her question confirmed her thoughts from that morning. "I came from Sapporo, Japan. We have a family shrine there. And yours?" Mizuki asked again, feeling comfortable despite sharing all of this information with him. Looking to him she noticed some barbeque sauce on his cheek. "Um, you have some sauce on your cheek, Austin." She said, pointing to her own for reference.

Austin brushed off the sauce with the edge of his finger, and wiped it off on his rib after setting it down on his plate. "I'm from Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas. And thanks." Austin took a small sip of his Coke. "Do you play any instruments?" Austin felt slightly awkward; Talking with girls like this was something he was still a bit new to.

Encountering another question Mizuki answered it easily. "Violin, though I have not picked it up in a couple years." Taking her Coke she looked at him. "In the U.S? That must be nice. And what instrument do you play?" Sipping the drink she felt the cool liquid go down her throat, leaving her feeling rather refreshed as they sat in the noon sun. Mizuki scooted a little closer to Austin, comfortable with being this close to him now.

"I play bass guitar, but I haven't played in a while either.." Austin recovered his rib from his plate, and finished it. He picked up another one and got started on it. " Yeah...It's not too bad. I like Texas moreso, though, because Texas is a republic and the only state that can fly it's flag at the same height as the Country's."

"Really? Is the state flag not allowed to fly as high as the country's?" Mizuki asked, having no knowledge of this topic. She had studied about the United States in school, but not in that much detail. Finishing her salad she put her bowl down in the sand, deciding to wait for Austin to finish his food. Looking out at the waves she had a sudden yearning, an urge to feel the water. "Austin...have you surfed before?" Mizuki asked, knowing that the question was a bit out of the blue.

"Well, no. Of the 50 united states, Texas is the only state that didn't merge with American soil as a state. Before it was integrated it was recognized as an individual republic. And part of the terms for Texas joining the US were that it remained recognized as a republic. It's part of the reason Texas gets away with stuff like the "Castle law", which states if somebody invades your property, you can shoot them for it." Austin finished his ribs, and wiped his mouth with a napkin. When the second question came, Austin was a bit surprised. "Umm..no. Not really..Though my dad used to tell me all the time that he did in his youth."

Listening intently to his explanation the history lesson came back to Mizuki, but was surprised at the Castle law. "But, isn't there the 'Make My Day' Law which pretty much says the same thing?" She asked, standing up after seeing that he was finished, prepared to throw her bowl away. Upon hearing his answer for his second question her face softened. "Ah, my dad used to surf too. We used to go to trips to Okinawa and he taught me to surf." She turned toward the table for a moment before looking back at Austin. "Want me to teach you? I could get us a couple of boards in a few days, if you want." Mizuki knew that she could send a letter home asking for a couple boards and that her relatives could send them to Tenshi.

((Enter up stage from Entrance to TU))
Labryna and Andrew walked along the wooded path for some time in silence, even holding hands for a bit before Labryna got embarassed. Within a few minutes the trees began to thin and Labryna gasped in wonder. Beautiful sparkling beaches streached as far as she could see, and the sea was a calm blue that gently flowed along the shore. "It's the most beautiful beach I've ever seen," Labryna said with bated breath as she caught hold of Andrew's arm lost in the moment. They walked together again and as they got closer they started to hear sounds of people and laughter.
Arriving at the beach Labryna was surprised to see Bruce there manning a huge grill where he was cooking burgers and other barbeque."Hello again Bruce. I didn't know you'd be here."
Bruce looked up from the grill and waved at Labryna. "Well you couldn't expect me to miss the chance to cater the annual bon-fire could you?" He called back jovially.
Labryna looked around the beach now that they were closer and saw less people then she had expected. Andrew directed them to the buffet and started filling a plate for Labryna, asking her what she wanted of each dish. When they had each gotten a plate they walked down the beach together.
"You are very beautiful Labryna." Andrew said out of the blue.
"Thank you," Labryna said, not really knowing what to say. She started to blush slightly and looked down at her plate. She was charmed by Andrew, but she didn't know what to think about him saying that. "You are very handsome too." Andrew smiled then laughed musically, and they continued to walk.
Labryna looked out to see several people struggleing with what seemed to be Watermellons out in the water, and she laughed. She couldn't make sense of what was going on with that, but figured that she would find out if it was important. As they continued along the beach laughing and talking Labryna caught sight of another couple of people sitting on a log and talking together. She and Andrew approached the people and she held up a free hand, "Hello, my name is Labryna. Could we join you?"

After finishing her food, Inuki continued to sit watching the water. Resting her head on a knee, she eventually drifted off again.

Austin thought it over for a moment; his dad had always offered to take him on a trip to go surfing in his youth, but it hadn't happened yet.
"Sure, why not? I'll stick around for a bit." Austin had plans to return home soon, but this sounded like something interesting. And besides, if he learned how to surf, that would at least be worth something, wouldn't it? Austin collected his and Mizuki's trash, and wandered off after a brief "Be right back" to throw it away. He returned momentarily, dusting off his hands.
"Well, i'm full. Care for a walk?"

Thanking Austin in taking her trash Mizuki mentally told herself to send a letter home requesting a couple boards. Gazing out toward the water again she thought that it would be fun teaching someone else how to surf. Turning when he returned she nodded. "Me too. Sure, a walk sounds good. Want to go by the water?" Mizuki bent down for a moment, taking off her flip-flops and holding them so that she could walk barefoot in the sand, a smile on her face.

Austin looked down at his sandals, and remembering that this was a fresh-water lake, took them off. There weren't any washed up jellyfish or sand-crabs stuffed away here. "Sounds good to me. Lead the way." Austin gathered his sandals into his hand, gesturing her to take the lead with his right gently.

Walking towards the water Mizuki came close enough so that the water lapped up her feet. As the waves washed up to her ankles she sighed, feeling rather content. "Austin...are you human?" She asked, finally saying the question that had been bothering her this entire time. Looking into his eyes she hoped that he wasn't offended by her question if the answer was no.
