The slight rumble of thunder overhead alerted Chloe to the oncoming storm. For a moment she sought out Kaze to recall him, but recalled that the Charizard was still tucked safely in her PC box, and breathed a sigh of relief. She missed her partner, but knew that she needed to train her other Pokemon as well. So Kaze would have to settle for his little vacation for the time being.
Speaking of vacations, it looked as if hers was about to be rained out. As the dark clouds gathered, Chloe sighed, trying to seek out any sign of cover in the scarce vegetation of the mountain's side.

Her scavenging didn't turn out to well, as all she could find were small, rather pitiful trees, which were much too covered in ash to offer any shelter. Figuring she would tough it out, Chloe pressed on, deciding to head her way down the mountain, putting off her mountain top excursion for a day that had slightly better weather. Her Pokemon following along with her, Entreri still perched precariously on her shoulder as she slid the last few yards back to the ash dunes that decorated the thin ledges on the side of the mountain.

The two continued in silence, as they attempted to beat mother nature to the punch. Chloe hoped to get off the mountain before the rain started, but it didn't look too promising.

It seemed she had unwittingly uncovered her little hole from before. Or, to be more correct, Mikami's hole. The Flygon's little disaster.
Chloe decided that she hated holes.

As the thunderstorm finally kicked up, sending a drizzle, Chloe fell, dropping as Entreri leaped to grip the sides of the shaft, claws sending sparks on the stone as he tumbled along with Chloe. The two landed, Chloe with a flump, Entreri with a more than graceful skitter that had him in a defensive crouch, claws at the ready.
Wincing, Chloe coughed, sending ash scattering.
"...Ouch..." she muttered, shaking her head.
It was then she realized that she wasn't alone.

Deven decided that he hurt. Heck, everything hurt. His bones, muscles, skin, everything was screaming at him at his mistake. Falling through a giant hole hadn't been on his agenda today, very much the opposite. He had heard the rumors of ancient Pokemon inhabiting the underground caverns beneath the mountain. He had no intention of coming face to face with them...
Fate seemed to have other plans, however...
He was lying down, face to the ground, feeling as if he had fallen from a great distance, only to collide nose first with the rocky soil beneath him. Oh, and the ash, mustn’t forget that.
To make matters worse, it was raining as well.
He blinked, trying to lift an arm and push himself up. But his vision was blurry, and his body shook, trembling violently. He hurt. By God, he hurt.
After another moment of the rain beating upon his back, sucking what little warmth remained in his battered form, he struggled to turn over. Deven fought his way through a haze of pain to do so, wincing with each fractured movement. He attempted to push his beaten body off the increasingly muddy ground and somehow executed a half-sitting position, managing to peer about.
Only to have a sudden impact as something, or rather, someone, fell on top of him.

Chloe winced, pulling herself up, noticing then that her landing had been a bit softer than she had imagined. Looking down, she saw a piercing pair of blue eyes glaring at her. Entreri made his way over, helping Chloe up with a smirk, obviously amused that his trainer didn't have his agility.
"Uh... I'm sorry..."
"...Sorry? Is that all one offers when they nearly kill someone?" came the acidic response as the man struggled back into a sitting position, stretching slightly with a wince.
"I really am..." Chloe muttered, offering a glare of her own. "What, you think I planned on falling back down this forsaken hole? I wanted to av-"
"Hold on, what?" the man snorted, "You just said 'back' down here. Don't tell me you've been down here before?"

"No, and I don't plan on it," came the retort. "I'm getting out of here..."
"Yeah, I'm with you," Chloe nodded. "I'm Chloe, by the way, what's your name?"
She got no response from the sullen man as he stood shakily, examining the wall of the shaft.
"I don't see any way out..."

"Oh, that shouldn't be too difficult," Chloe grinned, reaching for her belt. "I have several Pokemon that can fly, Dragonite, Flygon, even a Swablu, they can... help... us..."
"Uh oh...."
"What?" the man looked up, not liking the sound of that. Chloe stood holding a Pokeball, Alkaid's to be exact. Not that it mattered. The sphere had a crack running through the release button on it.
A quick search had revealed that every one of her Pokeballs was in the same state. Although Lantis' Master Ball was unharmed, for some reason the release wasn't working, so she couldn't even summon the Latios out.
"That's not good," Chloe stated the obvious, muttering under her breath as her human companion sighed.
"No it is not..."
Entreri scrambled up the side of the shaft. And although he could very easily traverse the climb, it was clear that it was impossible for Chloe and the other guy to do so.

Chloe watched the Sneasel go, a bit concerned, but she figured he knew what he was doing. She was more concerned with getting out of here, anyway.
"So... any other ideas?" she asked, hoping that this mystery man would have at least one Pokemon on him that could help them out.
A shake of the head crushed that hope.
"No, I do not carry any Pokemon on me, I never needed them," he explained with a shrug, wrapping up a scraped hand with a roll of gauze he retrieved from his backpack.
"I travel alone, and I have never had any troubles up until now..." he muttered, shooting Chloe a glare.
"What, so its my fault you fell down here too?" she squeaked, not really liking this new guy too much.

"Well fine, I admit that much," although you probably couldn't get any coverage down here anyway, she added silently with a smirk. The man ignored her response, however, turning back to the wall once more.
"So, what happened when you were down here before?" he inquired.

"Nothing you'd be interested in," Chloe responded with a poke of the tongue out at the moody man. She wasn't offering anything if he wouldn't even give her his name. She turned to the wall as well, examining the way that she had come down before. It seemed that the ledge she had landed on was a bit too high up for her to reach... that complicated things.
"Seaaaa...." came the call from above, alerting Chloe to Entreri's decent. The agile ice type did a flip, landing on the cavern floor easily, holding a clawed hand out to Chloe with a faint smirk.

"What?" the mystery man came over, examining the item, faint smile appearing. "You dropped an Escape Rope before coming here?"
"Yeah, the first time," Chloe explained. "What's more important, we have a way out of here. And I plan to do so before those things decide to investigate us!"

As Entreri scrambled back up the shaft wall, Chloe handed the rope's end to the man.
"Now will you tell me your name?" she pressed, sticking her tongue out.
"Deven," he stated simply, before climbing up the rope.
Sighing, at least it was something, Chloe followed, making her way up the shaft, slipping a bit due to the rain, but eager as ever to get out of the forsaken hole.
