Paul: "Yep. There was this one place that said its strongest drink ate straight through the livers of 49 patrons...oddly enough, mine stayed in one piece."

Paul grins at this, and suddenly he feels obligated to represent his crew...

Paul: "Pour me in. What kind of pirate would I be if I didn't go about carousing and drinking all manner of insane alcohols?"

With that, he sets down his mug of ale somewhat regretfully and continues to watch the mixing process...

Damian finishes of the ale he is carrying. "This looks like its going to be a fun night night to night boys. Oh yeah, Owle I apologize beforehand for anything I may do while drunk. That includes setting this place on fire or accidently start eating a table."

Paul: "I too would like to apologize in advance for the mauling of any particularly good songs or people, the molesting of any customers male or female, looting, pillaging, and plundering that may occur, any artwork that may result, or my drooling of what appears to be blood while unconscious."

He grins sheepishly.

Paul: "I'm a very odd drunk."

Clapping his hands together he announces "Now that apologies are out of the way we must avoid those things. Do you want the rules to be the last person not passsed out or the last person who isn't to drunk?"

Owle waved off the apologies, shaking her head with a laugh. "Now, if you manage to do something I haven't seen before, I'll be impressed...till then don't worry about it."

Mauling of particularly good...people? Maybe I should start trying to figure out how to make people sober up...

"Rules?"

Athan quirked an eyebrow. There were...rules to drinking?

"We drink until we can't drink anymore. Whether that be 'til the place runs out of liquor or we run out of breath."

He scooped up his own mug that Owle had given him, then held it high over the table or whatever everyone was standing around.

"To the headaches and failed sobreity tests to come!"

He raises his mug too. "Cheers to that my friend! Hopefully we don't drink this place under." He say before getting ready for the clink.

Cro kicked out a barstool and hopped onto it, much like before, watching the display.

"I come from...a good distance, and I'm known as Cro Dena. Pleasures mine, Owle." There was a serious about him that was infectious, and it was easy to realize that he never said anything without meaning it completely. His ear twitched along with his tail in vauge irritation at the kitchen, as if he were wondering whether it'd be safe to go back to work yet.

"Would it be alright if I had some coffee?"

Owle smiled, thinking that was funny...he was Cro, she was Owle, and neither of them bore any resemblance to the birds their names suggested.

"Of course!" she responded. "Coming right up..."

And she vanished into the kitchen to make it for him. On finding an irate dwarf within, she just gave it a look as if to say What's your problem?

For whatever reason, though (probably for fear of what Rage would do to them) most of the dwarves seemed reluctant to mess with Owle. He said nothing, just fingered his damaged helmet.

Within minutes, Owle had returned with a steaming mug of coffee, plus a pair of cute little dispensers for milk and sugar, shaped like dragons. Those had been Owle's idea...she'd spotted them in the Gambino Marketplace and wouldn't leave till she'd bought them.

"There you are!" she said happily, setting it all down in front of Cro. "So...what brings you working in these parts? It sounds like you've come a long way; is there a story behind that?"

He might well be reluctant to tell it, but Owle was nosy.

Cro pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose in surprise and no little discomfort.

"Well I...um..." He looked down into the coffee, staring at his reflection for a moment.

~~~
One week ago -
Cro sat at the edge of the hospital bed and stretched. Infirmary had given a clean bill of health despite the problems when he'd first arrived, much to the curiosity of the doctors.
"...I know you're there, you may as well ask what you need."
A tall figure stepped out of the shadows and scowled softly. Knights was in no mood for Cro's usual attitude.
"I need you to watch a place for me. They show up there from time to time, s'bound to attract trouble...or to start it..."
"I'm not some cog to be placed where YOU will, Knights, or is it Jean calling the shots on this one?" The glasses gleamed as Cro looked back over his shoulder. "Or are you're orders coming from someone, I actually find worth listening to? Hm?"
Knights crossed his arms and looked down and Cro held up his hands. Finally the larger man broke.
"It's come from them, yes, but not through me or Jean. He's here too, you know. There's something dodgy going on there, everytime I ask about it he just laughs and says Deity could use a differant perspective...I'm not sure what that means exactly..." Those solid green eyes caught the ones that were shielded. "It's unsettling."
"You find anything beyond that strategic mind of yours "unsettling." I don't know why you don't just own up to being obsessive over control." There was a growl. "Okay! Okay, there's no need to get angry. You know I follow orders. Especially when it suits my own troubles. You say he's starting to experiment too? Well THAT should be facinating. Especially with the comming events."
~~~

Present -

Finally Cro looked up from his mug and grinned, tilting his head slightly.

"I'm just travelling. Sometimes, though, even journeymen like me need to earn some money, y'know? Figured with all the hubbub of Leviathan's new tournament, it'd be a good chance to get a good job."

(( xd ))

"New tournament?" Owle asked, curiously. She had this feeling that Vahn would be entering that...nothing could justify it, it was just a gut feeling.

After all, what kind of fighter has his own private suite at the stadium and doesn't enter into the new tournament?

"Well, this place is kind of out of the way, but I'm glad you decided to work here!" She grinned. "It's good to have company."

Not to be left out, Rage raised his mug, which was still sizzling and now giving off an unhealthy-looking smoke. "Well, I say let the contest begin!"

Momentarily, his eyes looked over to Owle and Cro when he heard that there was a tournament. He'd ask about it later....

"Thank you! I promise to try and not to get too much in the way of your current staff! Oh!" He got off the chair and moved into the kitchen, opening the fridge and avoiding the cold looks from the dwarves he pulled something out and brought it back to the bar, setting it down for Owle to see. It was a pie...an apple one, in fact.

"This was from this morning, I've made a couple of them, because..." He leaned down and looked conspiratorially into Owles eyes, she might see a hint of large, almond shaped eyes and maybe something more...

"The dwarves warned me about this tendancy Rage has for midnight snacks...they've also told me a lot of other strange things, but I thought I'd confirm it with you first." He smelled of caramel and coffee when he leaned in close, which strangely accentuated the colour of his skin and the sheer foreigness of him.

Even if Cro ever dressed like a Gaian he'd still seem alien, anything less would mean going against what he was, and his pride wouldn't let him be anyone else.

Caramel was yummy. Coffee wasn't, but, mmm, caramel...

There weren't too many dark-skinned people around Gaia, oddly enough...Owle tended not to take note of these kind of things, though, and she was certain his grab wasn't any weirder than the stuff she'd seen in her lifetime on Gaia. So it was a strange feeling, that she couldn't quite put her finger on, that he was alien...but, hey! He was here now, why bother worrying about that?

"That looks delicious," she said, finally regaining her breath after staring into his eyes far too long, disoriented by his closeness, and smell.

"Well, I can tell you he doesn't belch fire..." she said, half-jokingly. "That I know of." sweatdrop

A pause.

"What have they been telling you?"

His lips twitched as he tried not to grin at the returning curiosity to what he'd found out. She was a lot like her, no wonder...vaugly he wondered what had brought someone like this to be.

Leaning back he stretched and yawned, elbow thudding onto the bar and making the pie jump a little.

"Ohhh well, if he doesn't actually breathe fire, you don't wanna know the rest, they must all be falsehoods. Shoulda known I'd get nothing free from a dwarf." He flashed a grin her way, obviously teasing.
