"Have you ever had to take care of young children? Any sibs or fosterlings or the like? You lucked out with Nakoreth because is smart and able to reason with you. Nimakio here, however, is only smart enough to know how to get what he wants from you in the most direct way possible. I'll have Isskio keep an eye on him, but most of the job of training him will be your responsibility," Ray chuckles wickedly.

Kya looks sheepish, "No, I never had to deal with littles. Can I bug you for advice?" Ah ha! An excuse to track Ray down between duties. This whole flit thing was looking so much better!

Ray sighs. "I'll probably end up having to hold regular classes on Flit Training or something. Some of the little brats are absolute terrors. About the only real advice you need, though is that you have to remember that you are the person in charge, and make sure that Nimakio knows it. If you let him think he's in charge, he will take charge, and run roughshod over you.

((must ... sleep ...))

(bah, you're no fun!)

Kya nods, and continues feeding his much-changed flit. After a while, the the little pest is stuffed, and curls up to sleep next to the roasted wherry that caused so much confusion earlier.

Glancing around the dining hall Tolara groaned softly to herself. Too late to get a coherent weyrwoman. Shaking her head.

A few more hours won't hurt no?

It will if you come back with a hangover.

No drinking for me promise.

Tolara moved into the crowd, intent on keeping her promise.

Having finally found his way to the feast, B'ryan wondered if this was really a good idea. Many of those present seemed to be well gone on the wine. He was about to turn to leave when his stomach growled at him in protest. Sighing, he entered the confusion that was supposed to be a party.

Was every table taken by drunken older riders? Wandering about, he finally spotted a quiet table in a corner. He hurried over and seated himself before he realized that there was another person at the table already. "Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt." His stomach grumbled at him again as he said this. "Is it alright if I sit and have a bite here? I'm starting to feel like Iavoth's hunger was transferred to me. I'm Bryan." He offered the other boy a hand in greeting.

Out in the Weyr bowl, L'del rested with Blazeth in the sand by the lake. "I mean, it's a bit unexpected, don't you think?" he asked the bronze, continuing a conversation they'd started just after the Hatching.

Now that you mention it, I suppose it is.

"Think about it. Only one bronze, out of two hatchings?"

Why not? There were two golds that hatched from the same egg over in Fort.

L'del was about to come back with a smart remark when he heard a burst of drunken laughter from the feast. Why not go join them? You do need some human companionship now and then, too.

"Hmm. Sorry pal, you're not getting rid of me that easily." He turned to rub Blazeth's snout. "Besides, do you have any idea what it must be like in there right now?"

I know that everyone else is there, and having a fun time, the dragon remarked.

"They're getting rowdy. Another odd thing to think about: it wasn't like this at our Impression feast."

T'thia was at that feast. She's attending this one as well.

"T'thia?" Surprised, he looked up into the bronze's glowing eyes.

I imagine that she wouldn't mind if you asked her to dance right now, Blazeth said wickedly.

"Blazeth! Stop that! You know that I can't dance."

I seem to recall her offering to teach you.

"Blazeth, I'm not interested in dancing. Never have been, never will be."

Ah, I see now, The bronze said. You're afraid.

"What?!" Shocked, he took a step back, staring at his dragon. "I am NOT afraid of dancing!"

Blazeth gave a mental laugh. No, not of dancing. Of T'thia.

"I..." Hanging his head, L'del slowly walked back over to the bronze and sat. "It's not her that I'm afraid of. I just... I don't know how to tell her..." He sighed. "I like her and all, as a friend. The problem is that I think she's interested in me as more than just a friend." He dropped his face into his hands. "Man, I've never been good at this... " Another spate of distant drunken laughter made him shudder.

(not everyone of us older riders at the feast are drunk)

Kara shook her head, way toroudy for her to get even marganly drunk tonight....some one had to take care of the new riders.

R'nek grinned, and though it was warm enough, there seemed something aloof about his manner. "Not at all." He returned the handshake, glad the boy had stated his name, for he had certainly forgotten it. Ah, yes. This one had Impressed Iavoth. "R'nek. The dragonets do seem to get hungry often. Ah well, they're growing. They'd better grow, otherwise they'll never support us in Fall." R'nek chuckled.

"They're making right fools of themselves, aren't they?" He shook his head. "Alcohol. I never touch the stuff."

"Me neither. Never could understand why people would ever want to make such fools of themselves." He grabbed a platter of roast wherry slices and snagged several for his plate.

another uplifting tune was truck by the harpers that rang in T'thia's ears with a memory of unhapiness. her drunken grin quickly faded as the song seamed to be enough to snap her out of the drunken haze. she seamed to sober up real quick then and there. gathering some meat rolls in a napkin she stood on slightly shaky knees and excused herself

"i think i need some fresh air"

she quickly walked as best she could from the feast. once out in the cold air she shivered slightly as she bit into a meat roll.

"Arizath are you awake"

the dragons voice came softley to her greatful for it too

I am, are you alright?

before his rider could respond the bronze launched from the ledge it had been resting on in the night and came to crouch by his rider.

L'del has returned mine, and Blazeth

T'thia dropped the bundel of meat rolls as the name rung in her mind. tears sprung to her eyes and she burried her head in Arizath's hide

"don't play with me love"

she slid to her knees her dragon distraught now confused over what had caused his rider to leak, was she broken? at a loss at what else to do the dragon slipped his large head over the girls shoulder and rest it lightly on her back as she sat crieing into his sun warmed body.

Ray looks up as T'thia leaves the table, heading outside, wondering what prompted that sudden flash of unhappiness. Shrugging, she debates joining in on the dancing, then recalls that the last time she had been cajoled onto the dance floor, her partner--despite his wearing sturdy boots--had limped all the way back to his dragon. She seemed to do well at dancing by herself, but add another person into the mix and her feet always seemed to find themselves kicking out into unexpected places.

... She never had heard back from that lovely bluerider. Well, Ray reflects wryly, she did manage to bruise more than just his ego with her uncoordinated limbs.

"Is it just the wine," she comments idly to no one in particular, "or does this feast seem to be lasting forever?"

AndrAIa moved slowly across the room over to a small table a little away from the food... Cool, eh?
Yah. Cool I guess.
Whats up?
Nothing...
Come on! Im your life mate. Your siposed to confide in me!
Is if possible not to?
Guess not. She thought then absent mindedly leaned back on the table... "AAAAAAAAAA!" She screemed as the table tipped from her leaning on it. "Um... sorry?" sweatdrop
rolleyes ...
"Um yes..." she said and tipped the table back up. "How did I do that? I thought thease things where built stronger..." and as if on cue Lanith slipped out from behind a near by chair. "You whouldnt have anything to do with this whould you?" She said to the wild litle green.
The green stopped and looked at AndrAIa innocently.
"I guess you did. Hungry?" She said at Minth, Lanith, and Shoth at wich all three said yes. "Ok then." She moved over to the table and picked out some raw cuts for the flints and whent over to ask one of the older riders what to get Minth.

At a side table, Feather managed to finish her meal moments before Ivy, Scout, and Ace awoke complaining of hunger. "Hold on, guys! Give me a second!" She carried the trio to the kitchens, and asked one of the drudges if there was a bowl of scraps anywhere.

Having acquired a bowlful of food, she took the flits just outside the entrance of the lower caverns and sat there to feed them.
