"Signs? You want me to stick up a bunch of signs that say 'get off my property' or something? That sounds more like something a hermit would do." "Seriously, what is more obvious than stomping my feet into the ground? They stink pretty bad as is, the friggin' cat would've had to be robbed of her nose to not smell that."
He made an irritated rumbling noise and shook his head again, sighing irritably. At Sabin's question, he went very quiet. He knew one wrong move here would ruin his planning before it had even begun.
"I just wanted a picture of the Doctor Moreau guy. I had this idea ages ago to build a statue of him somewhere. Like... a momument or something. And for that I'd need building stuff. You know, like.. concrete, wood, a saw, wire for shaping and reinforcing. Wire cutters to cut said wire. And shovels for mixing up concrete and that sorta thing. D'ya know what I mean?"

"Well, who knows, maybe her sense of smell hadn't kicked in. Or maybe that you had just been in the area and not understood territorialism. Who knows. And is there really much difference between hermitism and what you're trying to do anyway?" He smirked
"A statue of Moreau..?" Sabin asked incredulously and shook his head. The hell? That seemed like quite the non sequitor. Especially for an islander who hadn't been particularly 'touched' by the madman like Lauren or Jordan. Still. Hell, maybe he wanted to give it a mustache and throw darts at it, and just didn't want to say so over the intercom with his request. It seemed innocent enough at least.
"Well, I guess so. Photograph, eh? Why not. I can have one delivered to your duplex by this afternoon. As for the other supplies, most of those should be in the supply room, unless Gaius has spirited them away to his construction site. Let's see... yes, concrete mix, the wood, saw, and wire should all be there - even some chicken wiring. "

"I'm not a hermit," Seth said, his tone defensive. "I just like the peacefulness of the south side of the island, that's all. I prefer being down there alone with just myself and my whiskey. Plus I don't have to hear the dramas of screaming people around me, especially when I'm trying to sleep during the day. I don't need to hear about other people's problems, especially when I have enough of my own, thanks."
"Richard was the one who didn't understand territorial boundaries." He grunted again. "I marked that bit as mine, long before she moved her fat arse in. And if I go back, she's liable to give me a second beating with her claws. I've heard stories about other islanders being worse, but... so far she's the biggest threat to my survival."
Upon hearing Sabin's comments that most of the supplies were available in the supply room, his tail and ears perked with his happiness, and he sounded more enthused than he really should have.
"Oh, good!" He nodded, overall seeming quite happier than he was just mere moments ago when speaking about his predicament with Richard. "Chicken wiring should work well for holding stuff up. Is there anything else I need? I've never done this before and want to do it right."
The thylacine grinned from ear to ear. This was going much better than he hoped it would.

"Well, if you say so." Sabin responded mirthfully. It sounded like the definition of a hermit to him - after all, they all had their reasons he supposed, justifyable or not. But he didn't particularly care to argue the point with the man. He seemed thoroughly rooted in denial, but at least was making an effort to be more social with his project.
"I can not think of anything else, although I am not exactly an expert in construction. Perhaps you should speak to Gaius about that, although I doubt that he would be very enthused about the subject matter of your project."

"Ah, Gaius hasn't had any problems with the stuff I've spoken about before. But yeah, I can see your point here - he probably wouldn't like to help build a giant hulking statue of the guy that got him stuck here. No matter, I'll mention it next time I see him."
The cogs in Seth's head began to turn even more and he had to smother an amused chuckle as a particularly evil thought came to mind.
"Hey, is it possible for me to get a chainsaw delivered to my door? Or at least a hand saw? I'd like to clear down... some bothersome trees in my territory."

"Have to turn you down on the chainsaw there, Seth. But I could get you a handsaw without too much trouble."
The cogs in Sabin's head were turning. Even IF Seth were building a legitimate statue in honor of Moreau, which Sabin had doubts, it would focus the islander's attention on Moreau as a representative of the labs and not him. It would likely be vandalized and help form a front against the mad doctor. And, in Sabin's book at the moment, that was a very good thing. It primed people to be more prepared if he were to approach them with an offer of how to stand up to Moreau himself.
"But! I wish you luck with your project. Maybe Gaius will give you a hand. Who knows."

"A hand saw will work just as well." Seth nodded in approval. "That would require more manual labour. But it's not like I'm going anywhere any time soon, now is it, hmm?" Seth grinned.
He vaguely wondered why the doctor was allowing him such things without even so much as a question. The thylacine quickly shrugged this off however - as long as he could get what he needed, he didn't question why it was being enabled for him. Despite the he still hated the island itself, and detested being there, he couldn't find himself hating Sabin, especially when he was providing most of his requests like this. Every time he had asked for something, the guy had more or less come through for him. It was weird.
"Thanks for the help, doc." Seth finally said. "I'll call you if I need anything else, but if most of the stuff is in the supply shed, I shouldn't need anything."

"Not exactly." Sabin chuckled along with Seth. "I've found that most islanders who develop a hobby tend to keep their wits about them better." The same could be said for most prisoners, and it was interesting how it seemed to assist individuals in fending off feral tendencies as well.
"Good luck with your project, and I should be able to get you those items by this afternoon. Have a good day." And with that, Sabin closed the connection, and typed up a simple acquisition request for Seth.
The photograph and the hand saw, as promised, were left in a small parcel on Seth's doorstep about four hours later.
