Naruto looks to Rikku and then looks to the Blitzball in his hands. He would like to learn how to play and found it cool he would be able to breath underwater, but he didn't really feel up to it, it was still pretty early in the morning and for once, he just wanted to be a little lazy. Besides, they had all day, not like they had anything planned. Setting the ball into the water to float away, he smiles at Rikku, "Maybe later, we can do whatever we want all day today!" he says, moving back to float on his back in the water again.

"Later's great!" Leaning back Rikku floated beside him, kicking lightly to send the ball towards the correct shore. She did not want to lose it. Rikku sighed happily, raising a hand over her face to shield her eyes from the sun. "Whatever we want... " She intoned with lazy happiness.
She stayed quiet for a while content just to float beside Naruto. Every so often as she kept herself in place they would touch briefly, sending little shocks through her but otherwise simply making her innocently happy. "What do you want, Ruto? To do."

Naruto had kept his eyes close, getting a happy jolt every time he and Rikku happened to touch, his mind beginning to wander. He opens his eyes half way when Rikku asks him what he wants to do and he shrugs, "Well, trying to play Blitzball sounds fun later, maybe we can do some exploring. I was going to do a little training later on in the evening, and I guess we can get something to eat whenever we like!" he says softly.

"ooo... That sounds like fun." Normally her words would have more exuberance & bounce, but Rikku felt surprisingly calm at that moment. "I'd love to watch you train..."
A dreamy little smile touched her face. "It's just fun being with you, Ruto."

Naruto smiles as he looks over at the female theif, "It's fun being with you too. I love....being around you Rikku..." he says softly, confused onto why he paused at saying love.

Her heart fluttered happily though Rikku could not fathom why. Turning her head to meet Naruto's gaze she smiled brightly, then reached over to tweak his nose for no apparent reason. Then she giggled. "That's good... 'cause you're stuck with me now!"

Naruto chuckles and rubs at his nose cutely, smiling. Then he sighs and looks back up at the sky, "I kinda wish, if you had lived in my world and was training to become a ninja, I wish you would have been on my team...I think I would have been alot happier..." he whispers softly, closing his eyes again.

They were back on this. Not that Rikku minded in the slightest. She hade been thinking about it too. "I think in your world I definitely would have wanted to train as a ninja." She giggled softly. "But teams were randomly assigned right? I may not have been in your team even if I was in your school." Reaching over she took his hand lightly in her own. "But I know we'd be best friends, regardless. You're so much fun, Ruto. & so good."

Naruto wasn't sure if teams were randomly assigned or not back in his world, he really didn't look into it. He opens his eyes and chuckles a little when she mentions what they have is good and he smiles, "Do you think I would have made a good....Al Bhed?" he asks.

Rikku giggles & fixes her gaze on his blue eyes. "Not with those lovely blue eyes of yours! It'd be a dead give-a-way you weren't Al Bhed." She squeezed his fingers playfully. "Though you sure drive the hover-cycle like one! But you'd have made a great Guardian! Or a Sphere Hunter! And considering how you beat me in our swimming race you coulda been a great Blitzer!" She winked jauntily at him. "But we'll see about that later... after you've learned to play."

Naruto chuckles as she talks about him being her world with such enthusiam, he almost wishs he was born there, but he figured the chances of meeting and getting to know Rikku probably would have been slim. He then seems to frown as he thinks about her saying he would make a great Guardian and remembers her saying something about a Guardian having to die, "If I did become a Guardian, would I have to die for the person I am guarding? That would mean I would have never really gotten to meet you..." he says sadly, moving to float in the water, wiping at his eyes as he tries not to think about it.

Rikku floundered, slipping half under the water except for where her hand was entwined with Naruto's. When she relocated her bearings she switched hands & tread water putting her face beside his, an earnest expression on her features. "A guardian puts their life on the line for their summoner, yes... but even before Yunie's Eternal Calm only one summoner & one of their guardians died every thousand years or so to defeat Sin & bring the Calms. Sure, others died along the Pilgrimage... but that happens when fighting fiends sometimes." She tread water only with her legs to gently run the back of the fingers of her free hand across the whisker marks on his cheek. "I was only thinking... how you'd have to have been a Guardian or a Blitzer or a Sphere Hunter for us to have met in Spira... though I suppose you could have joined the ranks of the Youth League. It wasn't like I was out there mingling with everyone on Spira you know. Those were the groups I tended to meet... except for followers of Yu Yevon & then New Yevon... but if you were in those..." Her voice dropped and she automatically hid her green eyes from view. "You would likely have been convinced before we ever met to shun me the moment you saw the color of my eyes..."
A splash of water stirred the surface of the lake underneath said eyes that had nothing to do with the Al Bhed's treading of the water below.

Naruto quickly grabs Rikku when she started to go down and he held her close. He did like the idea of becoming a Blitzer and he knew he would have to ask about a sphere hunter and what Yu Yevon, New Yevon and the Youth League was, but it certainly didn't sound boring in her world. But he gets incredibly tense when she says he would have learned to hate her the moment he saw her eyes and he can feel his blood boiling in rage. He suddenly kisses her fiercely on the lips, pouring alot of his feelings into it, even though he doesn't really understand what those feelings are. He then pulls back after a moment and looks into her swirling green eyes, his own blue eyes very fierce with loving emotion for her, "I would NEVER shun you and I would NEVER hate you! You mean too much to me to ever do that to you Rikku! You're my best friend and no one will ever, EVER convince me to ever leave you!" he whispers.

After a little gasp of surprise Rikku closes her eyes to immerse herself fully into the kiss. When he pulls back her eyes open in wonder at the feelings -both his & hers- that she can still feel from the kiss. The intensity in his blue eyes takes her breath away.
Her legs scissor beneath the water against his, keeping her afloat as she puts her arms round Naruto & manages a smile. "Oh, 'Ruto! I know you'd never leave me! You promised, & I believe you! I don't know what it is about being with you & thinking of Spira that brings to the surface everything that I tried not to feel before... that I hid deep inside, not wanting to let it show how much it bothered me." She caressed his cheek lovingly, green eyes sweet & bright. "Especially when all that matters is here... & now. With you."

Naruto smiles sweetly and kisses her again, this time more gently then before. He holds her closer as they tread water, not wanting to let go, scared she will disappear back to her world where others shun her because of the color of her eyes and he knows he finally found someone, something like a kindred spirit and the loneliness he constantly felt finally seems to wash away and replaced with something new and unexplainable. He pulls back from the kiss before it gets too intense between the two and he lets her go, "Come on, lets go get dried off before we turn all pruney in the water!" he says softly and he turns to swim back to shore, his heart feeling much lighter.
