C'tanlik took control of the corpse that the Body Emperor's slave back in the Kingdom was connected to, and moved it towards the Necromancer in the black robe. Xanathos moved with them as they went. Before the Necromancer could use his charm, Xanathos looked down at him from his nine foot stature, and in a deep menacing voice he spoke.
"If this is a trap, I will personally make you eat your own face."

The necromancer wasn't listening, or just didn't care for his threats. He spoke an unintelligible, spidery sounding word and the charm he held flashed. The scenery around them melted away and was replaced by a long hallway, at the end of which were two massive, thick wooden doors, and a pair of regular sized doors on either wall around it. The necromancer placed the charm away and stepped up to the huge doors, knocking twice, waiting, then stepping back as the doors opened themselves. He stood off to the side, looking at the three.
"The master awaits," he said, gesturing for them to enter.

Xanathos felt no phasing as they were teleported to the floor where the supposed Master was awaiting them. Back in the Empire teleportation was an essential means of moving around, how else would one cover large distances in a short time. As the group were finished in their teleportation, Xanathos looked at the Necromancer briefly with a glare, before turning and sweeping his cloak around him, and walking into the room, awaiting the Master inside.

Beyond the doors was a huge study. Shelves were lined with dusty, old, leather-bound tomes, and there was the thick smell of mold in the air. Dust covered everything, giving it a semblance more of a crypt rather than a powerful wizard's study. The room was dimly lit and there were no windows.
Floating in the back of the room before a podium with an open book on it was the demilich, Valas Zauviir.
"Welcome to Necropolita," the floating drow skull said. "I hope there weren't any difficulties coming here."

Xanathos looked about the study with an air of disdain, he had personally never cared for Sorcerors, they held too much power, and he didn't like it, but soon that would be remedied in the Empire.
"We lost some Dead-men to your Labyrinth, although nothing that can't be restored back in the Empire. I thank you for your welcome to the Necropolis, it is a much welcome change than the living infestation above ground. So, what questions do you have over our offer?"
As Xanathos said this he muttered under his breath the words of power that held his armoured skull to his head. Slowly he removed the helm from his frame, and placed it on the demilich's desk. Behind the helmet lay a face that seemed perfect, sickeningly so. Its glacier blue eyes penetrated whoever gazed upon them, and upon his head a thick golden mane fell over his head. Although he appeared beautiful, it was one of those things that repulsed one, he was too perfect, too symmetrical, too manufactured.

Valas seemed indifferent to Xanathos' appearance, though curious as to why he needed a spell to take off the helmet. He had long ago discarded any feelings for beauty and perfection commonly held among his former kind. To him, beauty is power, and he has all of it.
"If we are to combine our forces to attack the surface cities, then obviously we need to share statistics," the demilich stated. "How many undead your empire is going to sacrifice to this cause, weapons, technology, strategies, the like. As you have probably seen on your way here, we have been preparing for quite some time."

Xanathos paused briefly while C'tanlik relayed information to the Emperor, and then back through to Xanathos. "We will sacrifice as many undead as it takes to conquer the land, although the Undead are a needed sacrifice for the war, you would be amazed with what our Body mages can do with live prisoners. As for weapons, most of our supplies come from within the Empire, and consist of mostly melee weapons, as our long distance forces are mostly mages. The great majority of weaponry are made from the metal you see in front of you." Xanathos motioned to the helmet sitting on the desk.
"It is extremely resistant to heat, piercing and slashing damage, making it we find the most effective armour for combat." Xanathos then paused again as C'tanlik drew more information to and from the Emperor."As for stratagies, we thought a more knowledged source would be more helpful, although we Dead-men do possess certain stratagies for crippling a city."

Valas was already analyzing the helmet, checking it for magical auras and the like. He didn't seem very impressed; though it was difficult to gauge any reaction from the demilich, seeing as how he was just a floating skull. They could still be useful though.
"That's good enough. With the ranks of both our armies bolstered, the mortal cities will fall quickly and the land will be rapidly plunged into darkness. Is there anything you would have to ask of me?"

"Our mages require that portals be set up between the Necropolis and our Empire, to ease the travelling of troops. It would also be helpful if you could mobilize your troops quickly, as ours are already in a state to go to war." As Xanathos said this he picked up the helm, which is the Demilich was looking for magic upon, he would have found a single rune on the inside of the helm. The rune allowed the helm to fuse to the Dead-man's face, essentially allowing the helmet and him to become one.
"Also, our Emperor had a target in mind for the first assault. He believes it will not be the easiest of targets to attack, but it is an essential one to cripple if we are to proceed through to the rest of Gaia. The Dark City of Lament is what he wishes to destroy. What are your feelings on this?"

"Lament is heavily fortified against both physical and magical assault. Every time we have tried taking the city, our agents have been overwhelmed. We will provide support, but our main force will be spreading out from Barton Town, which has already been established as a strategic point, and assaulting the neighboring cities. If Lament is still standing after all the others have fallen, then we will crush it."

"So you propose we attack this Barton first? Our preliminary scans of the place indicate the Eastern portion of Gaia is where many skilled fighters make their homes. Are you sure that it is wise to begin with the East? Perhaps the West is a safer choice." Xanathos said this in a negotiating tone. Lament was indeed a fortified place, he had told the Emperor this when first it had been suggested. The Emperor had even suggested that he himself ride into battle to give the troops morale, but it was decided against. He was too important to fall.

"Barton was sacked months ago. It is currently under our control, despite appearances," Valas replied. "We plan to use Barton as a hub to gate our forces directly into the heart of Gaia and spread out like a cancer from there, taking Durem, Gambino, and Aekea all at once. Once those three fall, we will move on to Latent in the east, Barthavos in the south, and Lament in the north, replenishing our numbers with the recently dead as we go along.
I will have one of the airships escort you back to your home. I will require the coordinates however, in order to attune one of the portals to transport you there at once."

"Very well then, Grashnak and Brashna will remain here in the Necropolis, along with the unit of Dead-men Elites and Body-slaves, you may keep all but one of the corpses if you like, although I assure you they're of no special material. I, and C'tanlik will travel with your fastest airship back to the Empire, where we will make the final preparations before making the jump through the Portal. You will be bringing along some of your mages too help with the portal drawing process from our end I assume?" Xanathos spoke this almost with authority, his large frame sweeping his cloak around him, not even waiting for an answer he began to ready himself to leave, before hesistating, allowing the Lich to give a responce...

Valas was silent a moment before he responded. "Personnel have already boarded the airship you will be taking back to your home. From there, they will build a gate similar to the ones we have here in order for travel between our cities to be possible. Before you leave, take this to your emperor."
A rolled up parchment with the wax seal of the Cult of Darshendros appeared before the demilich and levitated toward Xanathos.
"This is a formal alliance contract, just to make things official. It contains everything we have discussed, as well as a mutual defense agreement should either of our empires come under attack. It's already been signed from our end."

Xanathos smiled at the Demilich in the manner that seemed friendly, yet dangerous. With that Xanathos grabbed the parchment and turned to leave. As he was walking back away from the office he passed C'tanlik, who stopped him momentarily. As C'tanlik whispered into his ear Xanathos nodded, and spoke to Valas once more before he left.
"My Emperor feels there is much that can be learnt from our two Empires joining. He is pleased that you are so willing to co-operate with this. The next time we shall meet will be on the dawn of war. Farewell, and treat our sorcerors with care. Come C'tanlik" with that both the Necromancer and the hulking Dead-man left the office.
