"Of course you're not," Remi smiled at her son, then looked back at Stephan. "I just didn't have a clue he could eat so much so fast."

She hoped Gavin didn't think he was in trouble over eating pancakes too fast. The last thing she wanted was to come off as the overbearing mother who harped on her children about everything. It made her feel better when Gavin smiled back.

"I try eating slower next time," he beamed, now that he had a goal to work toward. "There's a next time, yes?"

He wanted pancakes again.

"Sure, whenever your mom wants," Stephan responded, then turned his attention back to Remi, "I'm guessing it's not the first time he's surprised you?" He knew just about everything about Gavin so far had surprised him, and that there'd be a lot more in store. Kids were odd.

Remi cracked a smile, hopefully confirming that there would be a next time. Hopefully many next times.

"Everyday's a new adventure with Gavin," she laughed. "You know, the night we first met I came home to find that he'd draped his entire room in toilet paper."

Which she hadn't cleaned up until last night, but Stephan didn't need to know that. As much as she liked cleaning, going into a toddler's room was not an easy task in that regard. Still, it provided entertainment.

"Woah, that's something," he laughed, finishing the last bites of his own breakfast, "I'd have probably left it like that for at least a week." He hadn't really thought about it, but once he had a toddler to deal with his apartment would probably degrade into a cave. So why was he bothering to decorate it? Because he could hire a maid of course, that'd be good.

"You and I must think along the same lines because that's what I did," Remi said, finishing off the last of her pancakes. By the time she'd actually gotten around to cleaning it out, most of it had been pulled down anyways. Gavin seemed to be sick of it too by that point, so it all worked out nicely.

"Well that was delicious," she stared at her empty plate.

"The wonderful line of cleaning hatred," he laughed, reaching for his wallet when the waitress came by with the check, "I think maybe I'll just hire a weekly maid." Maybe twice weekly, or daily if the kid turned out bad enough. He had cash on him this time, so instead of having to wait for the woman to bring his card back, he just put cash down and stood up, "Should we be heading back to the complex now or did you have something in mind?"

Remi felt a slight pang of guilt watching him pay, yet again, for her. Even though last time he said he didn't mind, the nagging voice in the back of her mind was running her through the guilt trip. She'd make it up somehow.

"I didn't really have anything to do today," she paused to consider what to do next. "Though I don't know what's around here. I haven't left the complex much."

She gave a sheepish laugh, realizing how she should probably try to get out more. Being locked up inside an apartment all day couldn't be good for one's social life.

"Well, I was looking on the net to try and find a gym around here and I found this site with a bunch of things around here. There's a zoo not too far from here?" He offered, tucking his wallet away. Everyone liked animals, right? And it was a nice day, didn't look like it was going to rain or get too too hot.

Gavin perked up at the word 'zoo.' He knew what a zoo was from his coloring books. They had lots of animals there, didn't they.

"Zoo!" he cried, trying to mimic the way Haki demanded such things. She always seemed to get what she wanted this way, so why not let him have a piece of the fun?

"Zoo would be great," Remi smiled, standing up and taking Gavin up with her. Gavin cheered. Zoo it was then.

"Then back to the car!" He laughed, heading for the door. He hadn't been to a zoo since high school, when he'd had to write a report on the lions. And from what he remembered from the website, today they were doing a show about birds of prey. Maybe they could catch that while they were there? When he got to the car he swung into the driver's seat. The zoo was less than an hour's drive, so he had enough gas to make it without having to stop.

Remi followed him to the car, placing Gavin again in the back seat, strapping him in. Once he was taken care of, she made her way to the front seat.

"So how long a drive is it?" she asked, not that it mattered. Her schedule was completely empty, like it usually was. One of these days she'd find a hobby or something. Well, a hobby other than taking care of a toddler.

"Ah.. Less than an hour," he told her, starting the absently, "About forty minutes, maybe a little longer if the traffic's bad." Not that he really thought there'd be any traffic. Not at this hour at least. The work crowd was mostly gone by now, and it wasn't yet noon, so it should be fine. "Think he'll be alright for the drive?"

"He should be fine," Remi looked back at her son, who was staring intently out the window. His eyes darted from side to side, trying to catch things as they went by. "I think he'll be distracted for a while at least."

So they had about forty minutes. She hoped she could hold up interesting conversation for that long. So far she seemed to be doing alright.

"So are you still keeping in contact with your fraternity?" she started, wondering mostly for knowing that if the answer was 'yes' she'd probably have to meet them eventually. That would definitely be an interesting experience.

"Some of them yeah," he admitted, "They throw some interesting parties." Not that he'd be quite so interested in them now that he had Remi to think about, but they were still fun sometimes. "I've known a few of them since we were kids."

"They must be close friends of yours then," she commented, wishing she'd kept in contact with some of her childhood friends. The most she'd done to contact any of her old friends was sending a note recently to one that she knew was still nearby. Chloe. Not her first choice on her list of contacts, but it was someone.

"What kind of parties?" she asked with a mischeivous grin, thinking she might already have an idea. She'd never made time for parties much, but the few that she did have a chance to go to had been interesting by her standards. It made her curious to see what a frat house could possibly come up with.
