Crustasian just something came up the other day about inducted guard in witch hunters. are they allowed 2 have doctrines? "When using Allied or Inducted troops, only the basic versions of these troop types published in the appropriate Codex can be used. No variants of any kind can be incorporated." Codex: Witch Hunters, p.25. It then goes on to give the example that Steel Legion could be used as normal Imperial Guard for the purposes of these rules. So, by RaW, no. If it was a friendly match and it was fluffy, sure, assuming you weren't being abusive with the system.

Couldnt that also just be summed up as, no doctrines, but if it already has an entry: steel legion like you said etc. its all good?
And you beat me to it, but then again i guess it works out, I didnt have a quote, I just knew from experience that marines and gaurd that are inducted are 'stock'.

It's always my practice to find the quote when people have questions of policy, so they know exactly what it says and can draw their own conclusions. As I'm sure it'll come up at their FLGS next time. biggrin
Lots of folks answer rules questions from their experience, casual reading, or interpretation, and that can all be easily altered - intentionally or otherwise. Without a quote it doesn't mean a thing in my eyes. whee
That's not to say interpretations or house rules are bad or wrong, but every rules discussion starts with rules and then becomes discussion. wink

I've seen the Witch Hunters and all and how they fight, after all...i've fought them. Lost too. ouch....Anyway I can personally say that the capability to use allies overpowers them. fought with my imp. guard army and couldnt hold on to a single vehicle because of a damed exorsist and a dreadnought. the accursed thing blasted all my vehicles away then a penitent engine walks up flaming my first platoon. dam armies set to overkill wit the allies power.
burn the heretic kill the mutant purge the unclean
and so on....

NC,CC, but I think they cheated. Dreads are Heavy Support for Marines I think, and they're not allowed heavies as allies. Unless Dreads are Elites, but like I said, NC,CC.

Crustasian just something came up the other day about inducted guard in witch hunters. are they allowed 2 have doctrines? No they cannot. Steel Legion was mention earlier but the example was more in reference to the Models. It judt used steel legion as a I.E. instead of Catachans, Valhallans, Mordian, Paetorian, Tallarn or Tanith.

Well, for the model, id say got to a hobby store. Most will special order what they dont have.
As for other nice models. I am a fan of storm troopers, so your basic troops can be pretty nifty. Obviously inquisitors themselves can be pretty damn powerful, and itd be good to have one for games where youre not using special characters like Celestine. Also assassins. Im a fan of vindicaires, but they all have their own little batch of win.

Mews, "Ok, this is possibly something someone already asked, but this is where things get a little hazy and questionable for me. I have asked like 5 games workshop workers, and gotten like 6 different answers, plus I called the help number, and still is hazy, now I am asking you guys for the same thing. With the witch hunters as Allies. Does the ally, the HQ, Troops, Elite, or Fast attack, count for going with your say, Space marines, meaning, you'd have 1 HQ for Space marines, that you can only include the HQ for Witch hunters? You cant have 2 HQ's for Space marines and 1 of Witch hunters or not?" she sighs, "A few workers, looked at the book, it doesnt say it replaces your main forces, but it also doesnt say it is Included as well. A few said it is included till the new codex is out, and others told me that it's not included that is replaces them. Now, I called the help line for rules, they told me it's how you interpet it. So... what do you guys think?"
