But the guardians are such a good unit (being an Ulthwé player as I am, I know this stuff). They can let down a rain ochshurikens on troops, not even a mighty 10 man squad of marines survive long enough against a 20 man guardian squad. Seriously 40 shots at BS 3(4 if you are playnig Ulthwé) are not bad. The only thing that are a weakness ís the range, but the new rules gives you the opurtunity to fire 40 shots and then assault and still get +1 attack, giving you 20 more attacks (weaker though). A 10 man Space Marine Squad can fire 20 shots and then not assault or assault with 20 attacks. So they got 20 attacks, and we got 60!!! Thats good odds to kick almost everything!

What I don't get is why Eldar have guardians...if they are so few in numbers why do they have a force of true fodder that can fire a gun? It just doesn't make sense to me.

The Guardians are actually the ordinary Eldar on the craftworld. They do not trian for war as the Aspect Warriors, but just live thier life. In time of war these eldar are employed as the guardians, this because of the few troops eldar can muster. They are practically worse trained than an imperial guard, but they must fight for thier craftworld.
I understand that. I'm not that stupid. But they should be concentrated on making MORE Eldar that follow the path of the warrior. Not to go get themselves killed.

One statement. 4+ save...Mass Dire Avengers are better. Unless you have Black Guardians of course.

Yes but the Eldar cannot afford their population TO be used as fodder. You overrate the amount of Eldar that are left.

From a strictly Imperial point of view any Eldar is to many at all. Besides tactically #'s win battles. Every army has some type of cannon fodder, or armor. Regretably eldar are to scrawny for all of them to wear armor.

Space marines are proof that numbers are not what matters in battle.
