Roobarb
I use Adobe ImageReady to make my gifs - which came with my newer version of Photoshop. It wasn't included with my old version though so it depends what Photoshop you're working with.
I tend to make all the individual frames in Photoshop, save them into a folder then import the folder into ImageReady.
But then I like making my own transitions too which Isidar says is insane. So depends what you wanna do...
Can't help you with the fonts. When I need fonts I usually just look them up on Google... but I haven't for ages.
Roobarb, it IS insane. To make that little think I did for Sushi man was 22 frames. No transitions, no tweening of any sort. If you look at the long..epic animations you do, and imagine how many frames that took..and then count how many transitions you would have added...*shudder* My computer would not be happy with me if I did that. It'd freeze almost immediately. Although, I see now why you import a whole folder in. I have slight suspicions doing that with my computer so i just click 'edit in Imageready' and take the layers across to play with.. But I suppose your own transistions DO make it more interesting..I just don't like doing it because it takes my computer long enough to do it without already in any case.
Yup umm..there's imageready 7 with photoshop 7, There's the CS versions and the newest CS2 versions, but I doubt anyone here has them.. Any older than that I don't know..I don't think there are..
For animations you could also use Flash..more annoying, less ways to directly edit graphics..but it works better than Imageready. Smoother at least. I'd recommend a combination of Photoshop and Flash to anybody bothered to do it. For quick things for the web, I just use Imageready.
Maybe I just don't have as much patience as Roobarb..I mean, I only ever have a few hours aafter school each day, to cram everything I have to do into..which leaves a bare mimimum for the extra luxury like things..like detailed animations. We have a 30 day trial of Flash MX I might use someday..
You know what I'd really like? The Maya thing..for 3D animations.. VERY expensive..and I probably won't use it much..so no point, but it'd be cool.
