Rei had to select the best sword to deal with Kaji, the fact that he was likely to keep his distance ment that a Naginata [Eng: Horse Chopping Sword. Like a katana crossed with a partisan] would be the efficiant choice, but he wouldn't be able to take full advantage of his Iai Strikes. "Daito [Eng: Longsword Katana] will have to do. Nice and balanced." Rei thought to himself.

He reached into one of the pouches on his belt, and pulled out a weapon scroll, which he then held out in front of him. With a puff of smoke, it turned into a Daito and Saya [Eng: Scabbard]. Rei withdrew the sword partially, to reveal that the blade was wooden to Kaji. This was sparring after all, he had no intention of dealing death, even though he was taking this seriously. He then sheathed the Daito again, and attached the Saya to his belt. Rei took a sideways stance, right hand gripping the sword behind him.

"Prepare yourself!" Rei shouted, ready to begin. The distance between them was approximately six meters.

The (now revealed as fake) Rei didn't appear to be doing anything to defend itself while Kaji's onslaught rained towards him. It hardly mattered, because the real Rei found the opening in Kaji he was looking for. As Kaji swiftly moved towards the Bunshin on the offence, Rei noticed that Kaji withdrew a kunai. From the tree which Rei had been hiding himself in since the Kawarimi Technique [Eng. Replacement Technique], came a shout of "Raikousao!" [Eng. Lightning Rod].

Rei had used his Raikousao Technique, which allows him to focus on any metal object and a chakra lightning bolt from the sky hits it square on, and he was using Kaji's withdrawn kunai as the Lightning Rod. That's gotta hurt. However, Kaji's projectiles reached the Bunshin, and it vanished with a "Poof!".

After his technique, the real Rei leapt down from the tree and back to the ground (approx 18 meters away). He smirked, and said, "Gotcha."

Rei appeared to remain stationary as Kaji ran around him, he didn't make any aggressive movements. Suddenly, a hail of Senbon Needles rained down from a nearby tree, but they weren't aiming at anything in particular, mostly hitting just ground. It was a spread attack, and Rei appeared to be doing everything he could to avoid the needles.

Now, sticking out of the ground, were no less than a hundred Senbon Needles. Ground movement suddenly became a lot more difficult for the pair of them.

Strangely enough, Rei didn't appear to initiate an attack. Was this a trap he set up before the battle?

[OOC: I'd like to know how you can pull of Kawarimi in the time it takes for lightning to strike, but I'll let it slide because this scenario is more challenging twisted Only reason I had time to pull of Kawarimi previously is because you moved before you fired, giving me the precious few seconds (If you remember the battle between Lee and Gaara, you can't do Kawarimi in a nanosecond). Also, if you're fighting tactifully like I did, leave suttle clues in your posts, so that you don't start making it up as you go along. Battles are much more fun when you have to think a few steps ahead. Also, three feet, even five feet, is close enough for melee.]

Rei swiftly pulled out a weapon scroll and tossed it in the air as soon as the first Kaji appeared. When the scroll 'poofed' a large Cleaver sword (approaching 6ft in length) appeared on Rei's back, although this time, not make of wood, but pure cold steel. Rei kicked off his right foot, swinging the large sword in an Iai strike [Note: See Shintachi Iaijutsu], circular, into a spinning attack, "Shintachi: Tachikaiten!" [Eng: Heaven's Sword: Whirling Blade], an attack with a diameter of approximatly eight an a half feet (3+5 does not equal 10, rather eight), more than enough to deal with the Kajis.

Of course, Rei suspected that either Kaji was stupid enough to get close to him, or that neither of these were the real Kaji at all. Rei suspected the latter, but wasn't going to take any chances. After the second rotation, Rei leaped from the floor towards the tree which the Kaji's fell from. If these were Bunshin, the real one had to be up there. Sword on his shoulder, and with a cry of "Shintachi: Shiken!" [Eng: Heaven's Sword: Deathblow], and with one horizontal swoop, sliced through the trunk of the tree with the huge sword, and thus it toppled to the ground. If that didn't damage Kaji somewhat, it would at least disrupt whatever he was doing up there.

Rei also suspected that Kaji was going to pull off this Intimidation Technique that he was once introduced to at some point (See Academy Thread). Rei was aware of it's existance, and kept this thought in the forefront of his mind while dealing with Kaji.

Rei leaped away from Kaji, sheathing his sword and making some distance between them. He looked up at the roaring dragon, slightly concerned about whether it was going to reach him or not. "That must be the intimidation technique he was talking about... maybe. That's a pretty high level jutsu for a student. It doesn't appear to be moving from the clouds so I'm safe for now." Rei thought to himself.

Rei kept an eye on Kaji as he landed after his fall from the tree. Surely after that jutsu, any student would be struggling to stand from chakra-deprevation. "I think you should call it a day." Rei said to Kaji, "You're not ready to best me yet. Work on your jutsu, and don't be reckless with your chakra when you practice."
