The only thing I might see with a padguard might be collection of bacteria...but you'd think a swab would do that too.
1-0-something people and two bands. whee Out of a total of like 350 in the entire school.

Erfaewen Miangel __penguin__ yeah our band is pretty big, we have about 120 people including the drumline. i think alto saxes might be the biggest section, its either us, trumpets, or clarinets. but i still can't beleive i'm the only freshman in my whole section eek Wow... we only have 65-70 people between two bands. Flutes is the biggest section overall... then clarinets and trumpets... then saxes. But in just my band (wind ensemble), saxes are second biggest. eek eek Only 65-70 people?!?!?!. . . .TWO BANDS?!?!?! We have one band of 39 people. Beat that. Only 4 saxes. One of our bands has 28, the other has 35-40. The 28 person band has 4 saxes (6 during pep season), and the 35 person band has 4 saxes. 3nodding We're really small. The next smallest in the district has 120 people.

Miangel Saint-Saens Well I feel stupid...... Padguards are these things that you put inside the main body of the sax. It's got like yarney stuff on it and it's supposed to do something for your instrument....Not sure what. Perhaps as a quicker way than the spit rag, except you leave it in the main part. Ah... yeah, I have one of those. I use it to clean the spit out of the body (I use the rag for everything else), but I don't leave it inside the sax - it won't fit into the case. So I stick it next to the sax. So you don't leave it in the sax.....I see.....*ponders* Well I'm not sure how they're supposed to be used really XD I heard they were good, before my friend said he heard they were bad. I just leave it in there. I take it home and wash it once and awhile, but you gotta air dry it, which takes awhile. Oh well...

Well, you can take it up 6 whole steps, or down 3 whole steps. I prefer the down 3, as it is smaller, but it is really your preference.

I am now a tenor saxophone player . . . sort of. I did make noise during the pep band rehearsal, and I did play two scales afterward. It counts!

Durza the Shade I am now a tenor saxophone player . . . sort of. I did make noise during the pep band rehearsal, and I did play two scales afterward. It counts! Yay! Tenor is awesome. ^^ You play clarinet also, right? My best guy friend switched from clarinet to tenor freshman year and he's now first tenor in jazz 1 as a junior. I switched from flute last year and I'm first tenor in jazz 2 (though it's kinda by default... since I'm also the ONLY tenor in jazz 2 XDD)

I play alto sax, tho I love tenors and baris sounds... I've played them once or twice, basically the same thing, but i like my alto, because its lighter and tenors/baris are too big for me to lug around to and from school. (our band doesn't have sopranos or anything like that) But ya. Saxophones in general rock.
